Traditional Fantasy RP

With so many different and unique settings out there, sometimes it's fun just to go back to the basics. A Big Bad has risen up, and Big Good has called all Heroes to action! You will play the role of a Heroic Protagonist. You don't have to be a protagonist indefinitely, nor do you have to be powerful, but you must be notable enough for Big Good to summon you.

There are a couple things you'll want to know first, though. Firstly, I want every player to have their day in the limelight. Every new character must have fodder for a Subplot, in which your character undergoes important development. All the other characters will help you in your Subplot, and by the time it ends, you will have acquired Something Important that will help you in the Final Battle. It could be a Love Interest, Legendary Weapon, Sudden Realization, and such like. Secondly, I'm the sort of GM who likes to have major twists and turns. A good guy may turn bad, a bad guy may turn good, somebody could die, stuff like that. Keep your eyes peeled for clues and hint-drops, and prepare for the unexpected.

Your grammar must be impeccable. I don't care whether your post is a one-liner so long as it's grammatically sound. Capitalize, punctuate, avoid text-speak, use good English. As for roleplay etiquette, don't leave your fellow players hanging. In other words, reply often and try to leave hooks so others can easily reply to you.

No, but really. Im interested! I actually never been in a Traditional fantasy RP(unless you consider SAO clones and Dark Heresy to be fantasy) and would like to take part. Brilliance in the basics and all that good jazz.

For those who are worried about sudden player character deaths, don't be. I won't do it without your express permission. NPC deaths are much more likely.

Character sheets are going to be totally secret this time around. PM to me what your character looks like, what their powers & abilities are, and some pointers about their personality and background. You will introduce them in-game like you would in a proper story.

If there's character overlap, I'll let the involved parties know (without telling them who's overlapping with them). Besides, I think some players try too hard not to overlap and end up shooting themselves in the foot by making their character really off the wall. I'll do all the worrying around here; you guys just have fun making characters you really want to play. ;)

The world is the usual high fantasy one, with humans, elves, orcs, dwarves, and the like.
* Humans can live up to 120 years. They show few signs of aging until they're around 80.
* Wood elves live as long as humans. They're more frail, but their senses are better. Their hair starts to blanch at around 80 years old, but they otherwise show no signs of aging at all.
* High elves are strong as humans and have the sensory powers of wood elves. They can live for many hundreds of years, but as a result, they cannot reproduce as often. Off-limits to player characters; GM-only.
* Dwarves are short humanoids with the same strength as humans with the sensory powers of wood elves. Unlike either of their genetic cousins, dwarves lead considerably shorter lives and age rapidly.
* Orcs are the strongest race of them all, but also have the worst sensory abilities. They're green, hulking, and a lot smarter than they look.

There aren't too many limits on character power. The main thing is that magical ability generally scales with age. You won't be hitting Big Bad with lava pillars, invisibility, black holes, or tidal waves at 20, and an 80 year old wizard should be capable of more than a strength buff.

* Personality & Bio: (Don't go too overboard here. You'll need to save your creative energies for the story. Take this opportunity to tell me any important bits about the character you want me to know about up front. It also serves as an excellent way for me to gauge your writing ability, so make it look pretty.)
* Subplot: (Must be something that can support a storyline within the overarching plot.)

I find I don't really have a lot of time on my hands, and you've already got a pretty decent player base here. At any rate, I made a wizard archetype character for a different role-play on this site - a role-play I pulled out of for my own reasons - but I'm not sure whether they would or wouldn't have fit into this well.

Nevertheless, if I have time I'll keep an eye on where this goes -- that's a pretty big if mind you, since I'm multitasking badly.

Could i possibly make a humanoid slime character, just curious...
