I try never to be offended by anyone who is a player as long as they are civil then I react in forums not by debate but by silence. It comes from observing many a tabletop game fold because of politics or some trite reason or misperceived slight, we are here in text only and it can get quickly touchy because of someone's choice of comment or grammar mistake.
My Uncle who owned the Store I worked at from 14 years old actually was friends with Gary Gygax and owns a complete set of the Chaimail game. They are on mimeograph type of paper and fade if exposed to air but my Uncle paid to have them scanned and the copies enhanced so you can read them. He ran the tournament at the store only allowing GMs to join an me his sweetest most loving and faithful niece who worked like an indentured servant in his store/salt mine.
When my mom and I moved here he had just opened his store and I was 12 years old and curious. The store was close to the house so when I got bored I’d go down to the store and read comics wondering what he and his friends were doing around a table. Then I saw them; my lovely, lovelies those tiny sparkling gems called dice; sorry dice are and obsession of mine I have maybe 6,000 of every size and type…...better stop or write a three paragraph description of my collection.
By 13 I was learning how to play and then I began GMing when I was 15/16 years old my first game was D&D as both player and DM.
See I warned you that I was a Geek Goddess LOL
I try to never be offended, but well, I'm just about always offended. I do it better than the hulk probably :P
That's not actually true, but yeah. I do try to keep my temper in check and tell myself I need to hold my tongue for a while before saying anything, because odds are it's just a misunderstanding. Sadly, being rational with my emotions doesn't seem to work.
You might find this odd, but I am actually curious about this dice collection of yours. Please, tell me more.
See I actually think I would've loved that. Being able to start so early, I mean.
I didn't start D&D or any tabletop game until recently because I didn't want to make a fool of myself in front of friends, didn't know how/where to find a group that I could join, and a few other fears and probably pointless worries. But I'd wanted to play tabletop rpgs for years. Took me... oh... 7 years to finally start.
