@Morose Do you think Thalken and Virginia would have met before? Considering both of their families' line of work, I would think their families would have worked together before. Not sure though that she would have met Thalken. She could have met his father or uncles?
@mnkee Definitely possible. I could see the Crypt family contracting out a hit to them potentially. I think it's more likely that they'd know her father, unless they've had recent business with each other in the last few years, then they could know her
@Lady Amalthea@Morose I went ahead to sit down and make the edits and write up my relation sheet. Here we go.

Sexuality: Heterosexual Relationship Status: Single, and certainly not looking Personality: Who is Thalken at heart? Few truly know. He’s a mystery wrapped in a rough and rougher exterior. He walks through life with this dark intensity about him. It’s disconcerting to say the least. He prefers to keep to himself, finding a relatively secluded spot where he can view the world without having to engage with it. This is fortunate indeed for he is greatly lacking in proper social skills and etiquette. He is a man of few words, but his unnerving, calculative stare and brazen scowl speak volumes. What words he does speak typically have a harsh bluntness to them. These attributes alone can land him into trouble. Generally speaking, he does not intentionally start a fight, but he sure as hell will finish it. The weird thing about him, other than the obvious, is that it is hard to evoke emotions from him other than his usual cold exterior. He is not particularly impulsive and instead takes a more calculated approach to things. He also does not falter under pressure and has a quick-wit, making him a formidable adversary. He can work his way around almost any problem.
This brings up an important question. Is there more to Thalken than just his coldness? People would be shocked to learn that there is a softer side to him underneath all of those layers of rough exterior. Most just associate him with being just as ruthless as his father has been. Quite frankly, Thalken couldn’t give a crap what others thought of him, but the truth of the matter is that he is not like his father. He does not live his life merely for his own gain. Granted, he does look at the world through a cynical eye, but he honestly does care about the lives he could potentially destroy. He does not hunt for sport but would rather have a justifiable reason for it. He wants to protect rather than destroy. But it seems that life isn’t always that simple. Ultimately, it is hard to gain his trust and loyalty, but once you do it is hard to lose.

History
Family History: The Talink family has not always had the title they do now, but it was hard earned over many generations of service to the British crown. In the early 18th century, with Britain’s need for soldiers, the Hessians, German mercenaries contracted for service under the crown of the British Empire, came about. The Talink family was one of thousands of Hessians serving in various conflicts throughout Europe and America. However, Hessians are most commonly known for their service in the American Revolutionary War fighting against the Patriots. It became a tradition so to speak for Talink men to join the Hessians for the sake of the honor and monetary gain to be had when one returned home to Germany. But in more recent generations, this has since morphed into something more—unethical.
The Talink family became mercenaries in the more traditional connotation of the word, a bounty hunter if you will. It was a somewhat slow progression, each generation becoming a bit harsher than those prior. Over time they aided more and more in the atrocities committed under the British crown. They took part in the press-ganging of men into Hessian service. They took part in the beating and executions of deserters. Eventually it climaxed into assassinating enemies of the crown and collecting the bounty on the men’s heads. They did all of this for the sake of private gain and to get them by in life, all in the guise of service to the British crown. Along the way, the Talink family lost the loyalties they once had. They were blinded by their newly gained title and money and selfishly desired more and more. Eventually they took on more criminal endeavors, jobs that were not sanctioned by the British crown.
The present day Talink Estate was established by Thalken’s grandfather Leopold and passed on to his three sons: Thalken’s father Beowulf and uncles Lycus and Arend. The estate is in an advantageous position near the London Docks. This has ultimately promoted and aided the nefarious intentions this family cannot seem to shake.
Your personal life: Thalken and his twin sister Thalcona were born on a cold March night in 1800 London, England. They were born into a dark lifestyle that was destined for tragedy, and for many years, Thalken embraced the darkness wholeheartedly. In their younger years, he and his sister spent more time with their mother Anne, while their father and uncles were out doing God knows what for money. Anne tried to shield them from the violence and develop them into people of good character. She started their education at a young age, finding a private tutor to teach them up until the time they would be sent away for more formal training. Ultimately, their mother did more good in their lives than they could ever say of their father.
At the age of 8, they were quickly thrusted into a world that their mother had tried so hard to shield them from, as their father pursued a working relationship with the Three Harmonies Society, a transnational organized crime syndicate. The entrance fee so to speak was for Thalken and Thalcona to train under the Three Harmonies Society for 10 years and for the Talink family to swear allegiance to them. Their father quickly accepted the terms, and his children were shipped off to China for intensive physical and mental training. As they got older, they were exposed more and more to the criminal activities of the Three Harmonies Society. Brutality, violence, and manipulation became their new norm. Over the course of their training, they would see their father once or twice a year as he checked up on their progress and did work for the Three Harmonies Society on the Chinese mainland.
Fast forward this to the fall of 1818, 5 months away from Thalken and Thalcona’s 18th birthday and the completion of their training. Tragedy struck the Talink family with the murder of their mother Anne. This single event forever changed Thalken’s outlook on life. He had always been gruff in manner, but he became darker and more standoffish after his mother was murdered in cold blood. He solely blamed his father for what had happened and grew increasingly resentful of him. Thalken saw the fragility of life and began to cherish it more. He knew his new way of thinking would be seen as weakness to those around him, so he shut most people out. At times, he even shut out his own twin sister.
Thalken left China before fully completing his training to “help” his father on the job. Truthfully, he wanted to keep an eye on his father so he could minimize the suffering the man causes to innocents. His sister Thalcona stayed behind in China to finish her training and returned to London shortly after her 18th birthday. They continued in their family’s line of mercenary work as it was all they knew; however, Thalken tried to find jobs that did not include killing people, if at all possible. As the Soulless threat increased, jobs hunting Soulless became all the more prevalent for Thalken.
What you want for your life: What does Thalken want in life? Well, there is not much he aspires to in life as he focuses more on the here and the now. However, there are a few things he would be glad to see occur in his lifetime. For one, he would like his mother’s killer to be brought to justice. Secondly, the more outlandish aspiration of his is to bring the Talink family out of the darkness they reside in and onto a less destructive path. He wants his family to be protectors of humanity rather than destroyers of it. But let’s get real, that probably won’t happen any time soon.

Character Quote(s): “Sometimes I aim to please, but mostly I just shoot to kill.” “It’s hard to resist a bad boy who’s a good man.” “The only way to survive in this world is to be strong.” “I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.” “Resistance—because if we fight we might lose but if we don’t fight we’ve already lost.”

The Notebook
"Sometimes I aim to please, but mostly I just shoot to kill."
❦ ❤ Thalcona Talink ❤ ❦ "She is my best friend, if not my only friend."
Thalken and his twin sister Thalcona grew up being practically inseparable. Where one went the other was sure to follow. They spent countless hours together, confiding in each other, getting into trouble together, and training together. Ultimately, he always saw her as an equal. He didn't her ability to protect herself, but of course he still worried about her wellbeing, as any good brother would. However, when their mother was murdered he began to shut her out, even left China without her. He went into a dark place, one in which he still resides in. Yet she always had this uncanny way of bringing the good out of him. And for that he was truly grateful.
❦ ☢ Beowulf Talink ☢ ❦ "One day he will pay the price of his actions."
In Thalken's younger years, his father wasn't that much a part of his life. What little time they did spend together was toxic, something Thalken didn't realize until his mother was murdered. He used to look up to his father, but now he only harbors resentment. He blames his father's selfishness and greed as the cause of his mother's death, and he reevaluated the direction his life was headed. Thalken realized that the path his father had laid out for him was headed straight for the grave. Now he tries to minimize the damage his father does and turn his life in a more positive direction. Unfortunately, old habits die hard.
❦ ❤ Anne Talink ❤ ❦ "She raised me to be better than what I have become."
Thalken's relationship with his mother was always much different from his relationship with his father. His father tried to push him to become a better warrior, while his mother tried to push him to become a better person. She was strong but also kind and compassionate. She tried to shield her children from the violence, and she didn't approve of her father's descent into more criminal endeavors. She certainly could have done more to stop her husband, but Thalken never doubted her love for her children. He loved her with all his heart, and her murder sent him into a downward spiral.
❦ ☢ Lycus Talink ☢ ❦ "He's just as bad as my father."
Thalken's uncle Lycus might as well be another version of his father. He's just as selfish, just as greedy, and just as dark. The two brothers frequently "hunt" together and take turns going out of the country on missions for the Three Harmonies Society. Thalken certainly keeps on eye on him. Unfortunately, his uncle seems to be more perceptive than his father.
❦ ☯ Arend Talink ☯ ❦ "I don't hate him, but I also don't love him."
Thalken's uncle Arend isn't nearly as bad as his other two brothers Beowulf and Lycus. He can actually be enjoyable company, considering his more humorous nature. However, Thalken doesn't doubt the man's ability to leave destruction in his wake, so he tries not to let his guard down when around the man.
☯ Virginia Crypt ☯ "I've never met her, but I've heard of her family. They're peculiar."
Thalken has heard plenty of strange things in the rumor mill about the Crypt family. Many seem to be wary of the family, but he doesn't buy into the hype. As far as he is concerned, they are just another criminal family like his own. After all, they have contracted the Talink family to take out some hits for them. As it stands, Thalken's already got enough problems to deal with to waste his time dealing with the Crypt family.

@mnkee Okay, looks good to go. I was gonna suggest that Millicent and Thalken knew each other in passing because they are the same age and both trained in China together. (Plus their mothers are gone) - but love what you have. Move to CS tab. Since he is already in London you can bring him into the event at anytime if you wish or hold until later.
@Lady Amalthea I figure what I will do is post for Fyror today and bring Thalken in next round. That will give me more time to come up with a good first post for him.
@rivaan I honestly don't think he is the type of person to drown his sorrows in drinks. Instead he would probably throw himself into his work and training. XD
@mnkee Question stands though... will he refuse a request from Mosi? She'd be inviting him to her home for a drink. Cause well all that wine needs to be drunk xD and as we all know it's starts easy with a glass... then they chat so fine that they drink another one... and by the third you don't even notice it!
@rivaan Eeehhh, well he may have one at her house *if* her family was present. Fyror would see it as dishonorable to be drinking alone with a woman. Additionally, neither Fyror nor I personally would promote drinking to get drunk. That's when you are more likely to make choices you will later regret. Fyror wouldn't want that, and I wouldn't want that.
I feel like I have so much potential for character development in Thalken. He's a bad boy trying to become more like a good man. :3 Here's another inspirational video:
Oh I can't wait to reveal what happens tomorrow but first must finish today. Once Riv posts I will make another post. Things are about to get interesting.
