I've been interested as well, just thinking what my character would be... can't decide on if I would be a hunter who wants nothing to do with the war or a supernatural tired of getting hunted.
@omerta Again, I'm not the GM (so sorry for raining on your parade @AnaSilan Sunja but I'm a little bit of a nosy person) but it is mentioned in the starter post that:
you can play as any type of supernatural creature as long as they can gain a human form
So I suppose your own creation will suffice, as long as it is, of course, not too OP and can have a human form.
As for your other question, it's for the GM to answer, but currently, there are only three factions and no mentions of subterfuge, spies, espionage agents and the like.
(P.S: Btw, I love the gif in your signature XD )
@NightmareInd Hello there! Yay, new interests! Forgive me for being nosy (again), but it is stated in the starter post that the Inactive/Uncaring stance is not valid for Hunters, so if you are going to make a Hunter character, they have to be Active. Or they can be the Oblivious human at the start of the RP who eventually becomes a Hunter (or a Supernatural. No discriminations :P ). Also, if you can't choose, you can always have two characters ^-^
Retired hunter drops! Now I just have to figure out what supernatural I'm gonna be and with my imagination as the limit... I'm never finding a good one xD
Interested. Is there such a thing as mages or sorcerers in this, and would they potentially fall under either Hunters or Supernaturals depending on how they use their powers?
Name: Curiosity / Darkness | Age: Sometime B.C. or A.C. | Race: Phantom Tulpa | Personality: Curious / Evil
History: Created by the collective consciousness of all the people in the world derived from curiosity. As it was the collective thought and feeling of curiosity of the whole world that created it, it was already autonomous and possessed a conscious of its own. As it developed itself "psychologically", it became more and more twisted, affected by the negative energies that overwhelmed their counterpart. As it tried to make sense of what was happening, it convinced itself that this change wasn't meant to happen and so it denied and pushed away all the undesired energies gathered within, leading to the manifestation of a dark entity, a tulpa of it's own if you may. It wasn't as much as a tulpa but rather a part of itself. It literally divided itself in 2 separate entities, both dependant on different thoughts and feelings. One was the incarnation of curiosity while the other fed off all the negative energies around it. Both things knew that if their significant other exhausted it's existence, they shared the same fate.
Strengths Curiosity has a lot of knowledge while Darkness has the strength of a poltergeist.
Weaknesses Only the Darkness has any notable weakness, as it's made of pure negativity it can be easily countered.
Stance Passive for the manifestation of curiosity / Active for the being made of concentrated negativity
Special Power/Skill The manifestation of curiosity can phase in and out of planes while additionally having the ability to turn invisible It's appearance changes, different for everyone, so as to draw the least attention. The dark entity only has the power of a poltergeist, that "haunts" Curiosity, as it's only the manifestation of negativity the curiosity tulpa has gathered itself.
I suspect that things like dream invasion and human possession will develop in due time and be available as a usable power for Darkness. The entity is still in its infancy after all. For now though, it can only throw things around, turn out the lights etc etc, the usual poltergeist things.
Also, they can both teleport and walk through objects, being spiritual and all, but every spirit can do that, just thought I'd mention it.
Under his coat is a number of harnesses and holsters
Personality: Erin has transformed into a cold, sadistic hunter who very much enjoys his violent work. However, if you were a human, you’d have no idea. Erin appears very cool, calm and collected around the presence of regular humans. However, when he is on the hunt (which he very much enjoys) Erin becomes creepily gleeful. In fact, his work gives him no greater sense of joy.
Erin has developed a deranged sense of self-righteousness, however, when a target gets away, he fills up with such rage and hatred that he flips into a brief rampage… in which case you will find a slight dilemma of random property damage. There is nothing that frustrates him more than a failed hunt, which makes him so persistent if you are being hunted by Erin.
History: Erin’s hatred of supernaturals wasn’t taught but triggered. At the age of 14, Erin’s parents were fed upon by a Vampire. Erin heard a loud slam and crashes from his parents’ bedroom. Erin rushed out of bed and barrelled into the room, to find the sight of his father face down in a pool of blood and a pale human with his mouth around his mother’s neck, two small streams of blood trickling down. Erin launched himself at the vampire who knocked him aside, crashing beneath the very window pane the vampire crept through. The vampire laid his mother on the bed and began to creep back over through the window pane, seemingly satisfied with his meal and stepping over the dazed boy, who was about to fade into unconsciousness.
A gunshot echoed out, snapping him back to reality, and the assailant crumpled to the floor, writhing in pain. A heavier pair of boots thumped in front of him, and a shadowy figure crouched down and plunged a stake of wood into the creature’s heart. The shadowed man turned around, and lifted Erin onto his feet, while he was still stunned and confused. This man turned out to be his future mentor, and trained him in everything he knew about being a Hunter.
However, this mystery man also met an untimely death much like his parents. After spending two years of harsh, rigorous training, he had decided to let Erin join him on his first hunt for a supernatural. A werewolf, to be exact. This was when he acquired his iron sword, the same sword he carries to this day. Erin was not given the full history of the target, and it turned out that the werewolf had no victims. However, he was taught that a threat was still a threat, whether it acted or not. His mentor, and adopted father for the past two years, charged at the grey humanoid, firing two rounds of pure silver bullets, each whizzing past the beast’s head. The experienced hunter had misplaced his trust in his aim, and in a flash, the werewolf was upon him, keeping him in a tight headlock. The wolf took a bite into his upper torso, blood spraying out, covering it’s maw. His gun scattered across the concrete pavement to Erin’s feet. Shakily, the 16-year-old picked up the gun, and aimed as steadily as he could. With a squeeze, the gun fired, and the bullet flew through the cold night air. The bullet struck the wolf in the chest, sending searing pain to the wolf, the bullet was enough to kill the wolf. However, it also pierced the hunter’s chest, and that combined with the bite wound was enough to allow him to bleed out. However, it was not sure whether the werewolf bite had already infected his mentor, so he gave his student one final task. Decapitate him. This would ensure that he would be dead and did not become a werewolf. His body was beyond help. Tearfully, Erin fulfilled the master’s wish and scavenged all of his gear with him. He walked away, prepared for his life ahead as a hunter, and over the next 9 years, his hatred for supernaturals only grew, and his dedication and obsession with hunting only grew.
Weapons: - Collapsible Iron katana - Modified Glock 17 9mm automatic pistol, fires silver bullets. Named “Reaper”. - Standard Supernatural Hunter gear (stake, silver cross, holy water, pure gold knuckle duster etc.)
Supernatural Target: His favourite prey are Vampires, but is prepared for all targets and situations.
Strengths: Very skilled with his katana due to practice, as well as a good aim with his gun. Extremely combat capable, and agile too, able to keep up with most supernatural.
Weaknesses: Easily prone to rage, frustration and has a big ego. He has a shitty personality, and is extremely uncaring and unempathetic towards supernaturals and even humans, only concerned with hunting and hunting alone, giving him a one track mind. Persistent and bullheaded.
@omerta On that one I'm actually gonna have to say no to the non-pre existent supernatural. I want people to at least be able to look up the race if they feel the need. You can, however, use the supernatural name of something similar and maybe shift a few pieces in your CS to fit it. You can also have half breeds, as I've mentioned before that one of mine are.
Secondly, I don't even really know if spies are a viable choice, given supernaturals can identify each other (Oh fuck I forgot to mention that oh my god I'm so sorry I'll add that) so they'd know if a human was just lurking around. Unless it really is just a human not trying to hide they're a human? Like...pretending to be on the supernatural side? It wouldn't work on the supernatural side because Hunters have thier personal spaces protected.
@NightmareInd I'm sure you can find a good creature :) there are several worlds and cultures of them out there, you just gotta know where to look.
@Bishop looks pretty good. one question though, is there any other way to word "The manifestation of curiosity can / can't interact with objects and be visible / invisible" because it gets a little confusing I think, unless I missed something. Also, I still need age; it can be relative or perceived given that your entity was formed into existence.
@GingerBoi123 Looks awesome! Where does he hide the Katana while in public? Is it collapsible?
Supernatural Creatures have a way of Identifying each other. They can have tattoos or hidden symbols on their skin that appear should they so Will it. (i.e. Darnies has a shimmering crescent moon under his eye that appears should he let it, and Chasa has her Chai tattoo, which shimmers to show she has Supernatural energy imbued in it, not just average tattoo ink.)
Whether or not you choose to add this to your CS or reveal it later in the story is up to you. Darnies and Chasa are my characters and you can read their CS's in the OOC.
Been quite some time, but I have an interest in this.
However, I do have to wonder if it would be possible to be considered a pagan god? Such as, due to the rise of other religions within in the world; their power would have dimmed but still potent nonetheless. Just a thought and look forward to an insight to this.
@Yojimbo I'm fine with that. As long as they aren't over powered, or if they're like the child of one so have half the power or something-or-the-other.
Age: Unknown, presumed a few millennia though he appears approximately thirty to thirty-one.
Supernatural Race: Aesir
Ethnicity/Race: Scandinavian (Old Norse)
Appearance:
Personality: Alphonse is considered charismatic amongst those that have met him or converse with him from day-to-day. Being a figure of celestial heritage, he is looked upon in awe of his confidence and ability to take the lead if need be. Many of his followers (who are far fewer than they once were) claim he is benevolent, but is known to have fits of fury when provoked. Being one of many patrons for warriors, he cannot find it in himself to walk from a battle if drawn into one. Though, being of lesser strength in the modern times, he would prefer to pick his fights before they actually begin.
History: *Work in Progress*
Strength(s): Enhanced strength, endurance, and longevity. Due to his consumption of the golden fruit of Iduun, Alphonse has been granted near immortality that has slowed his aging to a crawl. This also grants him to immunity to all forms of disease for normal humans, but not any that pertain to the supernatural world.
Weaknesses: Prolonged exposure to dark magic will incapacitate him and render him useless in combat. With powerful enough dark magic, there is the possibility of removing his longevity and could kill him. Though he is naturally resilient to cold magic, he isn't immune to other forms of natural elements of magic. As with all supernatural beings, he isn’t immune to the disease that could infect their kind. This could range from putting him out of commission for a few days, months, years, or could lead to paralyzing him for a few centuries.
Stance: Uncaring. Alphonse cares not for the war, nor the struggles for others within the supernatural realm. His sole goal is the restoration of his beliefs and to have new followers restore his former power.
Special Power/Skill: As an Aesir, Alphonse is gifted in many forms of combat with melee and hand-to-hand combat. But his greatest ability stems from his parentage to Odin himself: the ability of near limitless knowledge. With seemingly unlimited wisdom, he is able to look into past events and nearly predict the future from those occurrences. There are limits to this power however, as he can only articulate things within the last few hundred years. Being as old as he is, he is susceptible to forgetfulness and has forgotten more about things in the world than all the histories combined.
Other: Due to a decline to his culture’s worship, Alphonse’s potency has greatly diminished to a small portion of what it once was. However, he still carries a great deal of power with him and is capable of subduing his opponents if need be. Being underestimated is a flaw many of his foes have inflicted upon him in his long life; but many have learned through death or the hard-way that he is hardy.
@Yojimbo looks good so far! Is his knowledge limited to events, or would he know about people as well? And how would normal magic affect him as opposed to dark magic? My character is a witch, so would he be able to give yours a talisman or would the magic become void once on his being?
