Avary nodded. "Do you think we're going to make it out of here?"

Amalia hesitated, not wanting to make Avary more scared. "Honestly?"

"Yes." He said. He knew she had held things back from him before, to keep him from fear. Everyone always thought Avary was weak or couldn't handle things.

Amalia bit her lip, worried. Father had always warned Levi and her about Avary's mental state. He had always seemed to be a bit more flighty than his siblings- a fact that had worried the whole family. Levi had completely disregarded Father's warnings, while Amalia had been gentle with him.

"No. It's rare for royalty to survive invasions, especially by two forces at once. Most likely, we'll be killed by Dante, or if we actually make it to where the armies are invading, we'll be too weak from defeating Dante. When armies invade, they usually take the castle and have the royals publicly executed." Amalia said.

Avary nodded calmly, but his eyes were alive with fear, and his breathing was becoming shallow.

Oh, no. Amalia shouldn't have told him that. How would she calm down? She pulled him into a tight side hug.

"It's alright, Avary. I'll protect you, alright? If anyone tries to hurt you, it'll be over my dead body. Got it?"

Avary nodded again, but he was close to hyperventilation. He had tears in his eyes as he hugged Amalia in return.

"It's okay, Avary. I'm here for you." Amalia said in a hushed, comforting tone to Avary.

Avary was full out crying now. He felt embarrassed to be crying like a baby in front of his sister.

Amalia, smiling with sympathy pulled Avary's head into her lap. She stroked his head comfortingly.

"Like I said, Avary, it's okay to cry a bit. I'll protect you, understand?"

"OK." He said, he was calming a ligtle bit.

Amalia gave a tiny smile. "If anything goes wrong, we'll leave the castle with Harold."

Levi left Dante and pulled a cloak from the dead body of a soldier from the opposing army. He disguised himself and stepped into the march.

When Lucien heard the war drums of the impending mystery army he became fearful for his life just like everyone else, for he was no soldier, and had sworn never to touch a weapon, those ghastly tools of savagery, ever since his son passed away. So when the prince told everyone to leave the premises so he could deal with Dante and the invasion force, Lucien did so without hesitation. He retreated into the safety of the castle, hoping its thick walls would protect them all, where he met back up with the steely Princess Amalia, frightened Prince Amary and the little Prince Harold "Oh thank god you're all safe dear children, I was worried you would get caught in the crossfire"

Avary looked at Lucien when he came in, fear still in his eyes. He looked back to Amalia. "How would we get out of here alive?"

"I dont know dear child" Lucien said truthfully, but with conviction he said "Fear not, I believe in your fathers and brother Levi's ability to get us out of this"

Avary looked down. He himself wasn't that confident in his father and Levi. Dante used magic and had means of winning no matter what. Levi and his father didn't.

When Amalia saw Lucien come in, her expression turned unflinching yet again. Weakness could not be shown in front of anyone but those closest to her. She simply would not tolerate it. "It's good to see you made it out of the crossfire as well, Lucien." she said in an unfeeling voice.

She turned towards Avary. "Fear not, brother, for I am sure that father and Levi will protect us. If not, we will find a way."

Avary shrugged. "How would we get out unnoticed? If Dante doesn't sense us leaving, the army must've surrounded the castle."

Amalia thought for a moment. "There are other ways out of the castle. You think the people who built the castle didn't think to create ways to escape if something went wrong?"
