The year is 2073. The world has been very, very busy.
The human genome contains around 20,000 genes, that is, the stretches of DNA that encode proteins. But these genes account for only about 1.2 percent of the total genome. The other 98.8 percent is known as noncoding DNA.
Or, at least, that’s what we initially thought.
You see, there was always something peculiar about how a person’s genome overlapped with a banana’s by a margin of fifty-odd percent. Scientists rationalized it as evolution. For the most part, they were right.
Mutation is the driving force of evolution, and recently mother nature has been going through a lot of heavy stuff- because from what it looks like, everything we thought we knew has been taking place at a rate far faster than we initially thought.
Over the past forty years, a small but notable percentage of the human race began to display... characteristics for the lack of a better term. Super strength, the ability to manipulate the elements, telekinesis, and other incredible powers began to pop up across the globe. Most of these gifted people were killed out of fear. However, those that survived used their powers to gain influence or control. As areas became affected, the government of that place began to work to contain and neutralize the situation.
And it worked.
Well, temporarily. You see, these situations happened several times, always with the same results, and always with some loss of life. It became a trend, and the populace began to notice that it wasn’t just over-dramatization by the media.
The United Nations called for research, and research they did have. Some form of energy was pulling some form of genetic trigger in the chromosomes of affected individuals. No two metahumans were alike. Even those with similar powers always seemed to have completely different active areas- often overlapping with the areas that other, seemingly unrelated powers had. No one knew who would be affected, what caused the mutant genes to activate, and where the trigger even was. All that the world knew, was that it was only affecting babies, and humans of incredible power were being born. Despite such limited knowledge, human understanding of power rocketed forward. With most if not all adult metahumans exterminated, society underwent a paradigm shift towards these gifted beings. Babies began getting tested at birth for active metahuman genes, and those affected lived slightly different lives that the common man. Men in black, government officials, stopped by your place or residence once a week to monitor your development. If one’s living conditions were bad enough, they were brought to live on government ground in one of their ‘Academies’.
Superhuman education was a large part of your life. You know what you are, and you know what will happen if you abuse your power.
And now, those government officials have arrived at your door. You have either been asked and accepted the invitation, or have been forced, to take a trip outside the Earth’s atmosphere- and to the United Nation’s most progressive endeavor yet.
Welcome to The Promise.
The school among the stars.

|| Rules & Notes ||
[1.01] The usual rules. No godmodding, metagaming, powerplaying, autohitting, etc. Just don’t be a dick.
[1.02] Swearing, alcohol, drugs, and sex are fully permitted in the RP long as you do not overdo it excessively. Although, good luck getting it on board a space station.
[1.03] There will character deaths in this RP. By submitting a sheet, you acknowledge that your character will have to deal with the consequences of their actions. If your character does something dangerous, then they may get injured or die. Don't Godmod your way out of it. I won't purposely go out and kill characters (That I like), but I may purposely injure them for the sake of the story.
[1.04] I’m pretty easy going when it comes to posting. If you can only post once a week, dont hop into an interaction that’s time sensitive out of courtesy. If you can’t continue, please say if you're leaving the RP, especially if you're in the middle of any interactions/important subplots. Inactive characters will likely be forgotten about, or killed off if they were significant enough to the story.
[1.05] I don't care too much about post length. I rather have a short meaningful post over one full of filler. That said, all I want is one paragraph. Just one. Be prepared for some long posts every now and then. However, I expect average writing at least. I also recommend that, once we get into the mix of things, you do plenty of collaboration posts.
[2.01] Respect everyone else at all times, please. Solve conflict with civility. Last thing I want is for things to become toxic. The golden rule is: Don't be a dick.
[2.02] Me and my GMs have the final say. We aren't tyrants, but if things get out of hand, we'll have to settle things ourselves.
[2.03] I'd rather that we talk on the OOC as much as possible - even if it's irrelevant chatter. I makes the RP seem more lively, and keeps everyone attached to it.
[2.04] I’m pretty relaxed with character sheets. Please don’t make me regret that by thinking my criticism of your Edgelord McDarkness character is a personal attack.
[2.05] Feel free to ask about anything, anything that I don’t cover here. I'll happily answer them.
[2.02] I plan to enforce a strict pro-shitpost policy. Send me all your spicy memes.
[2.07] Whatever you do, do not listen to anything @Mr Allen J has to say.
[3.01] This is a casual RP, but I expect a moderate amount of detail when writing your sheet. The one thing I tend to make people go back and edit is a lack of detail. On the same note, try to make your characters interesting.
[3.02] You have a great deal of freedom when creating a character. You can make someone of any gender, sexuality, background, etc. Long as it's written respectfully. I will not accept characters with mental illnesses unless they are written correctly.
[3.03] I'm gonna say it now; I'm not a fan of sociopaths/psychopaths, dark and tragic backstories (Without proper mental repercussions), one-note "badasses", perfect characters, and any of the sort. So keep that in mind when planning your character.
[3.04] "Magic" does not exist in the setting. This RP will be mainly scifi with slight paranormal themes here and there. There will a suspension of disbelief for artistic license but let’s not do anything too drastic please.
[3.05] The following powers are banned; "instant death" powers, mind/character control, time powers, anything with "omni-" attached to it, reality warping, darkness manipulation (that has to do with creating solid constructs out of it- same goes for light), gravity manipulation, life-force absorption, complete indestructibility/absolute defense, and probability manipulation. I also will not accept characters that have powers that can only be used in a fight.
[3.06] I encourage a written description for the character's appearance section. If you want, you can provide a picture. It must be a real photo, or a realistically drawn one.
[3.07] You can make a non-Metahuman if you want, although they’d have to be on The Promise for a reason.
[3.08] Please don't post a "wip" sheet. Post the complete version or don't post it at all.
[3.09] You can submit your own NPCs, long as they are important enough to the story (Or your character) to warrant one.
[3.10] You are free to make as many characters as you can handle. Unless it gets really ridiculous, I won't chime in.
[3.11] Remember, when a person is invited to The Promise, it is because they were either selected in a random lottery draw, or because they are criminal and The Promise is the last thing between them and being shot into the sun.
Mutants, Freaks, Overhumans... Commonly called Meta-humans are normal humans that were afflicted with a strange condition that has given them powers that defied the laws of nature and physics. Men with super strength, women who can teleport, children who can control nature itself. These powers are extremely varied. These abilities stem from a strange energy that resides deep within them. It is an invisible energy that is extremely hard to detect through normal means. This energy inhabits a Meta-human's entire body, from their skin, to their bones, to their blood. The energy isn't detrimental to them, or the environment, not even in the slightest, it can even be called beneficial. What is interesting is that scientists have observed that while the trigger seems to universally act the same, everyone’s activation zone is in a different spot. This is believed to be related to how no Meta-human has the same exact power.
Meta-humans are born with their genes activated, but some do not trigger until later into their lives. Powers received are sporadic at best. There is no way to predict what power a Meta-human will have, nor when they will develop powers. That said, any power a Meta-human receives is almost random. Completely unrelated to race, culture, education, or physical activity. It is also theorized that every human being has the potential to become a meta-human if they were to have the genetic trigger mechanism. However, there are such a thing as hereditary powers. Powers passed from parents to the children, or simply run in the family. These are relatively uncommon, but this is the reason why there are entire families of Meta-humans. However, while inherent powers do exist, anyone will get a different version of a passed down power. In what ways vary. Sometimes it's a slight difference, then other times there's a difference in function, or they will have an ability that nobody else have. Like it's been stated before, Inherent powers are uncommon, but there is a chance family members will get a power. Which will be explained below.
Meta-human’s powers are very much like a muscle in that they are normally only capable of using a fraction of their full strength. These natural limits are theorized to be in place so that they don't hurt themselves. However, similar to flight-or-flight, high-stress situations allow Meta-humans to push themselves beyond their blocks, and develop them in the process. However, while powers are truly incredible, they come at a price. Powers have a toll on the body and mind. Excessive and unrestrained use would cause what could be described as physical overexertion. They'll get tired and weak from use, along with some bodily damage. Pushing powers beyond their limits in high stress situations cause even worse problems, and at it's most extreme, it may cause an effect known as "Ashing". This is basically an extremely deadly aliment where a Meta-human self destructs. Their powers shut off, and all their cells will die at an alarmingly fast rate. Their cells will drop off their body like specs of ash, and this process will continue until there is absolutely nothing left of a Meta-human. This state is extremely deadly, and there's a mere 4% chance of survival - Even if a ashing victim does survive, there are some permanent physical damage (Amputation, Brain damage, loss of powers, etc, etc - Are a few). Ashing is what Meta-humans truly fear, as any meta-human can ash if they are not careful.
The North American Metahumans were regulated by state governments in the past. Now the United Nations has taken the reins and has a more socially aware way of dealing with Metahumans. Metahumans, young and old, are educated and made sure they are mentally well and adjusted. Assisting them in getting jobs, and are properly integrated into society. So far, the UN’s plans are certainly working effectively. The main thing that UN changed was how Metahumans were registered. Opposed to previous habits of concentration camps, Metahumans are uploaded to a database with their information, whereabouts, superpowers, etc. Their DNA are uploaded into the system, and a registered UN ‘visitor’ (of which two will visit a metahuman once a week on a weekly basis) have a DNA scanner in which they can quickly access the database and access their information.
To avoid scrutiny from some countries, and to avoid breaking several Geneva conventions, Metahumans are not allowed to join any official army, nor are they allowed to participate in any wars. There was always a prejudice against Metahumans, organizations in the past did what they could to alleviate it, but they couldn't do everything. There would always be people out that hate them. After the many previous battles, society’s fear of them was far from justified. Tension is at an all time low, but is ever present.
A meta abilities stem from energy. Upon stepping aboard, metahuman’s on The Promise are injected with nanomachines that limit the maximum potential of a metahumans abilities. These limiters do this by monitoring the amount of energy being produced. If it gets too high, it forces them back down. Most people are on The Promise for eight years- from high school until they finish a collage level course, or until they finish the four years of power control training should they decide not to attend further schooling. After each year their power modifiers are modified to allow a larger and larger percentage of their power to be used. Once they hit eight years, it is deactivated, but can be reactivated remotely if necessary. Teachers are almost always much more powerful and experienced than most students due to having deactivated limiters. For example: A first year super strength metahuman, even if they normally have the strength to lift four tons, may only be able to lift a ton. A teacher with the same power would probably have no issues lifting four. It should also be noted that limiters are used on a case by case basis- with the more dangerous powers being more heavily regulated.
The purpose of these limiters is to prevent ashing, and prevent students who are not experienced with their power from causing damage to themselves, The Promise, or other students. As the student becomes more adept, their limiters are adjusted accordingly.
|| Classifications of Metahumans ||
| Cerebral |
| The Mind | Easily the most straight forward out of all the power types; Cerebral powers have something to do with the mind. Any power that has something to do with the mind. Out of the three primary power types, Cerebral powers are the least diverse. Usually falling under powers that let people gather information, alter minds, or exert their wills on the outside world. Telepathy and Telekinesis are the primary Cerebral ability - with a great deal of the Cerebral types have differing versions of those two powers. There are a variety of other Cerebral abilities (Astral projection, Memory Manipulation, etc). Subclasses:
| Extra-Sensory | The Extra-sensory class entails powers that allow people to gather (and sometimes share) information on a extra-mental level. A sixth sense you could say. Powers under this sub-class strictly deal with gathering information. Telepathy is stated to be under this class, yet the powers that are mainly under this class are Extra-sensory powers such as ESP, Precognition, Retrocognition, etc.
| Domination | Domination class powers are abilities that are mental in nature that allow people to manipulate the minds of those around them. This class can work in many ways; from control of animals, to affecting emotions, or outright mind control. Unlike what the name implies, not all powers have to do with mind control. They can be the subtle powers that are suggestive in nature. Many of these metahumans are put down by their ‘Visitors’ at a young age.
Domination Powers include: Mind/Emotion Control, Animal Manipulation, etc.
| Super-System |
| The Body | Super-System type Meta-humans have abilities related to the body of themselves and/or others. Super-System powers are easily the most diverse out of all the Power Classes. Any power that changes (or enhances) the body in any way can be classified as a Super-System power.
Powers such as Super strength/speed, flight, and Regeneration are prime examples of Super-System abilities. Subclasses:
| Bestial | A very common sub-type of Metahuman, Bestial Metahumans have traits from the Animal kingdom. Most, generally, have the traits of one Animal. These abilities are divided into two functions; either they're permanently altered with the animal traits, or they have the ability to transform into animals. They don't exactly have to be based off an animal, a Metahuman can simply have animal-like, or have bestial traits..
| Biological | Those under the Biological class have the direct ability to actively manipulate their biology and anatomy, rather than have permanent alterations. They have the ability to manipulate the biological makeup of themselves and others. Bones, blood, skin, muscle, etc. This can include shape-shifting, growing new muscles, and skin-manipulation. Many of these metas are carefully monitored if not neutralized as soon as their powers begin to develop.
| Mimicry | Mimicry type powers are the set of abilities that allow the user to adopt or completely copy certain external aspects of other objects. Men that can change their appearances, women who can change their volumes, children who can multiply themselves all fall under this category. Metahumans like these can be incredible hard to keep track of.
| Elemental |
| The World | Those under the Elemental class have the ability to warp matter and energy to their will. Most Elemental types have control over one, or several similar, elements. Many of them function the same way, in the way that each Elemental-type has the ability to move the Element that they have control over, along with a few extra tricks. However, not all Elemental types are the same. Any ability relating to a kind of matter falls under the Elemental Class.
Subclasses:
| Energy | Energy-types are Metahumans with an affinity over Energies. They operate similarly to Elemental-types, they can generally create and control an energy they are attuned to. This is a very broad definition. It can range from electricity, to fire, to sunlight, or sound.
| Physiology | Physiological elemental powers are a set of abilities that allow their user to transform themselves into an element, or otherwise take the properties of it. These abilities are quite versatile as their main class. They can be any element, even tethering into the energy sub-type at times.
| Power |
| The Essence | The least common type of Meta-human out there. Opposed to altering the mind, body, or the world, Power-types alter the very essence of Superpowers; the Meta-human energy. For example they can alter it (On a large, or small, scale) to give themselves different powers (Power replication comes to mind), or enhance, or weaken, the powers of others.
Subclasses:
| Replication | Replication type abilities are another form of Power type. Replicators are known as those who can mirror the abilities of other Metahumans, and use them for themselves. They are known to be the most versatile brand of Metahuman, as they can figuratively have any power within the spectrum. However, many of them are limited in how many abilities they can hold, or alternatively can only replicate certain kinds of power. Many have limiters that adjust the complexity of the abilities they can copy, oftentimes simplifying the power they receive from their host.
| Charger | This is the other Power-type, Chargers are Metahumans who can either enhance or weaken the abilities of others. Depending on whether their genes work to dampen or enhance their surroundings such powers can include power boosters, upgraders, nullifiers, etc. Many of these are limited by the amount of power they can cancel out, or limit the area of effect.
| Anchor | Anchors are Metahumans who have abilities that prevent chargers and replicators from limiting or adopting their characteristics and abilities. Almost all power anchors have some visibly mutated aspect of their beings that have permanently changed their physiology and physical bodies. Most power class metahumans copy or limit the energy that is produced by another metahuman's genome. Most anchors on the other hand do not produce this energy in the same form. Anchors cannot be charged, or nullified. 90% of Anchors are Beastial or Biological in nature. But there ARE some exceptions.
| Other |
Powers that simply don't fall under the above categories.
|| The Setting: The Academy Program ||
Academy programs are world-wide organizations that work in conjunction with the many governments of the world in order to produce safe learning environments and to teach Metahumans to use their powers. They are a global organization that caters to this specific goal. There are hundreds of Academies based in North America, and thousands around the world.
The students are the purpose of the Academy, for they are trained in how to use their powers in accordance to their nation's standards. The students are given real skills so they can possibly survive out in the world. The main thing the students are put through are trials, some of which are tackled in groups whilst others are faced alone. Students are scored based on how well they perform in these trials and those who score higher have a tendency to graduate at a faster rate. The Academy excepts a wide variation of student age groups, ranging from students just learning to walk to elder men and women, all coming from a variety of different backgrounds. There are two types of student: "Fresh" students are the boys and girls that are fresh to the Academy. "Full" students are the people who choose to live on the Academy full time, either to because they have not completed their training, or because they don't have a stable home nearby. That's one thing that the Academy Program is known for - they house Metahumans who are wards of the state, where foster parents are incapable of taking them in.
The Academies are usually staffed by Metahumans (as that's the best way to teach someone how to use their powers), but they are also staffed by regular people. Many of these empowered teachers are known as Instructors. The Instructors are Metahumans that teach the students how to use their powers in efficient, safe and practical manners. There's a large team of them, though nowhere near as many students. Each of them specializes in a different type of power. Whether it's Elemental training, or Shape-shifting and transformations. They do it all, and they can help their students.
The Promise is the largest and grandest academy ever dreamt or built. The central column of the space station is over five miles long, with the thirty seven hexagonal living spaces branching off of it being two miles in diameter and having their own various environments. Each most students under the ages of 18 live in housing complexes, or dorms. Older students have the opportunity to purchase private housing with credits, the currency of the stations. Credits can be used to purchase most anything available on earth and are earth by going to classes or performing jobs that benefit the station- be it doing repairs or simply working a job at one of the retail centers around the station.
Credits are distributed by Terabyte. The entire space station’s main operating system is run but an AI named Terabyte. Terabyte was a Metahuman who died on The Promise- and was arguably the most powerful technomancer to ever live. Due to her late stage lung and heart cancer, her last project was to copy and convert her mind into that of an AI's. While she might be gone, her legacy keeps on living by assisting the staff and students on The Promise. Most other functions such as the private internet connection, the station economy, and grades are also managed by Terabyte. Terabyte is on constant surveillance of all indoor (and even some outdoor) areas, but due to ethics cannot repeat what she sees unless specifically requested to by authorized personnel.
When a student graduates from The Promise, they are sent back to earth to live their lives. However, The Promise is known for extending an invitation to graduated students that fall within the top ten percent of the graduating class. Some do take the opportunity, and some do not. Oftentimes seniors preparing to graduate will shadow instructors or staff that have been hired for positions similar to the ones they are on track to hold.

Jasmine is a very pronounced teenager in terms of appearance. It's because of her pronounced looks because of her Ethiopian heritage. She just has that distinct Ethiopian facial shape. That means that Jasmine here is African-American to her very bone. Afro-textured hair, brown-skin, thick lips, and of course the African facial-shape. She has a slightly nerdy vibe about her because she is utterly blind without her glasses, and hates the fact that she has to wear them. However, the girl is much more in line with urban girls. It's the way she dresses and acts, after all. Jasmine has the aura of a model, mostly because she loves to pose, and take pictures of herself. She's a girl that loves to be in tip-top shape, instead of being a slob. Because of this, the girl's body is pretty well-toned from exercise and the biz. She has the build of a runner because she's a track runner in school. The rest of her body is well-toned because of yoga-stretches, and body building.
All of this means that Jasmine is a tad muscular. Almost like she is aiming to become a model. She does have a bit of body-fat, and all it does is make the girl curvier. I'll go into that later. The girl isn't painfully tall at five-three, but her build more than makes up for it. She has a pear body-shape, instead of the famed hour-glass - but she makes it work. With her lower body being the wider part of Jasmine, her breasts aren't anything to write home about at 34B, but her hips and behind are wide. Her perfectly round behind is the butt of many jokes.
Jasmine walks with a swagger in her step, and sways her hips left and right. She definitely gives off the aura of a vain female with all the looks she gives people that tells them she's the queen bee. Though, she certainly has a playful side. It shows when she smiles - and that's only when she's around the people she trusts very much.

A tad abrasive. Jasmine is a girl that is very vain and haughty about her talents, and appreciates all the love and admiration for being her home town's finest child. She has a lot of confidence in herself, and the skills to back it up, of course. She's normally laid back until someone sets off that flaming temper of hers, then she turns into a screaming maniac that is blunt as hell. Like, she'll give people the most savage verbal beatdowns on the planet. Jasmine is blunt in general, but honestly, she mostly reserves that for the people who annoy her the most. She speaks in a casual and friendly manner, and uses the lingo and slang you'd expect a eighteen year old to use. Not overly energetic, but she puts enough passion into her interactions that leaves a good first impression. Usually putting on a confident smirk. Certainly playful and confident with other people, and tends to spout jokes, and the sorts. Jasmine is so confident in herself that, when she makes a mistake, she owns up to it, and takes full responsibility for it. Most importantly, looking down on people who don't.
The other main trait about Jasmine is that she's incredibly competitive. Like, she wants to be the very best in the world, and will go to insane lengths to achieve that. She doesn't like being number two, and instead, will fight tooth and nail, going to illegal ends to become the number one. Either by bettering herself, or sabotaging the opposition. It all stems from an innate inferiority complex.

Jasmine Nnamani was born in Germany to parents that were very important architects that made plenty of trips around the world. That made the money flow in for the young Jasmine, and gave her everything she ever wanted. She was always a ball of energy... like, she was a limitless supply of it. Which caused her to act out without any real outlet. It would be years before anyone would even think of putting Jasmine in a sport. She started by first joining the local soccer (or Football) team, which served her well, until she got into basketball where she did much better. Putting that energy towards winning above all else. Sure, she had the energy to do it, but Jasmine talented at sports that she was showered with praise at a young age... and that really filled her head with the idea that she needed victory above all else, and made her incredibly arrogant. It wasn't long until the girl had become obsessed with the idea of being the very best.
With the world showering her with praise, Jasmine felt unstoppable... that is, until her parents got a divorce after her mother found out that her father had an affair with an American woman a few years ago, and fathered a child with her. She didn't even want anything to do with Jasmine, so she was left in the care of her father as the two came to America to find new business. Moving to another country was hard, since she was leaving behind her life of fame... and then quickly found out that America had a big love of sports (even some large leagues just for women). The moment Jasmine touched down in Seattle, Washington, she spent her time practicing and training for the WNBA.
It wasn't long until Jasmine encountered her half-sister Phoebe Sarin. The two didn't get along that well... at all. Given that Jasmine thought that Phoebe was a loser, and not even worth her time. Which caused a noticeable schism between the two, but Jasmine didn't even waste time on Phoebe, and instead single-mindedly focused on becoming the best. It wasn't long until Jasmine became queen bee of her highschool merely by sports talent alone. Her name became known all over school... but, not all over Seattle! She tried her best to get noticed by sports agencies, but, just couldn't. That was such a blow to her pride that she went to some rather... seedy lengths to get to that level.
Then Jasmine graduated from highschool with rather average grades, school was for nerds anyway. Jasmine was just going to try a little harder. That's when she noticed a change in her biology. She felt much stronger and faster than ever before. Her wounds healed at an accelerated rate, and she didn't feel the need to eat anymore. When in sunlight, she felt so much stronger. It didn't take long for Jasmine to realize that she was a Metahuman. She heard about them... She hated the concept that she could become an outcast to her own people.
It wasn't long before she was outed as a Metahuman, and forced to go to fucking space. She was essentially dragged here kicking and screaming... but, she best get this over with.

Super-System
▼ | P O W E R D E S C R I P T I O N : | Solar-Absorption.
Jasmine has the ability to absorb solar energy through her skin to gain strength. Whenever she absorbs this sunlight, it is stored in her skin until it is needed later. What does she use solar radiation for? Well, I'll tell you. She can use this in two different ways. First, passively, Jasmine can substitute solar energy for sustenance. She won't need to eat as solar energy empowers her, and instead provides her with all the energy she needs without ever having to take a single bite (She only eats because she wants to). She'll need to drink water, though. Thus, it gives her to have much more energy during her activities, and holds off fatigue until lactic acids kick in like a bitch. Jasmine's body-heat is also a bit higher due to containing so much energy, but it varies depending on how much energy she has absorbed. The average human is around 98F. Jasmine on the other hand is a good 150F at her very max. Which is hot as a mug on touch. Naturally, she has a higher resistance to heat... not enough so that she's immune to fire, but enough so that she doesn't cook herself alive. Along with being fairly immune to the adverse effects of absorbing so much solar radiation. As for the other half of Jasmine's ability, well....
Regeneration.
The solar energy in Jasmine's being has fueled her regenerative factor. By absorbing sunlight, she can heal from wounds at such an accelerated rate that it's insane. Her regeneration at it's maximum allows her to heal from broken bones in a few days, and severe flesh damage should be repaired in an hour. That would require her to constantly bathe in sunlight as she heals, but that is still something that shouldn't be taken lightly. At it's lowest, her regeneration is only a few notches above her regular healing. The horrible wounds won't heal at a noticeable rate, but tiny scrapes and burns will disappear a little faster. Now, her survivability is brought up. She won't be surviving shots to the head, but she can sure as hell survive gunshots elsewhere without having to worry about bleeding to death. Jasmine's ability also helps her recover from contaminants like poisons, toxins, and diseases. I wouldn't say that she's completely immune, but she's definitely a lot more resistant.
Enhanced-Strength.
Jasmine uses the solar radiation to infuse her muscles with a newfound strength like no other. The more sunlight she has absorbed, the more strength she has access to. Unlike her regeneration, she actually has to activate this ability. Her body will undergo a transformation where her muscles will begin to puff up, and grow much, much, larger. She'll go from a fairly fit girl, to having the bulk of a body-builder. Though, I should say that her muscles were modified to exert much more force. So, even if she doesn't look like she has the muscles, she is strong af. Now, to get into the upper limits, I should start with the "floor" of her capabilities. Jasmine, when she hasn't activated her strength, has twice as much strength as she normally would. So, she would be able to lift around two-hundred plus pounds with ease. At the very most, she can lift up three-thousand pounds (But, that'll require hours of sunbathing to acquire). Which is a damn lot. Anyone who takes a full force blow from her is probably not getting back up. Now, I know what you're thinking; "Oh, Allen, how does she survive this?" And I'd say shut up. Obviously her body is reinforced to a degree that she doesn't tear herself to pieces, you dumbfuck. Once again, her durability scales with the amount of solar energy she has.
▼ | L I M I T S | W E A K N E S S E S : |
Of course, you probably realized this by now, but sunlight is a fuel for her abilities. While she stores an abnormal amount of energy within her cells, she also uses it up fairly quickly when she regenerates, or accesses her super strength. Which means she, essentially, cannot keep using her powers long-term, or she'll run out of energy. Jasmine will have to be constantly absorbing solar radiation... and the only way to do that efficiently is less than ideal to say the least. Speaking of which, to access the upper limits of her powers, she's going to be needing a load of preparation. Meaning, hours of sunbathing in skimpy bikinis. Which means it is possible for her to be cut off from the strength she needs if necessary. Thus, Jasmine is much weaker indoors/at night.
Unless she throws something, Jasmine will be restricted to close ranged combat. While she's strong, she's still limited by her stamina. Excessively lifting objects places a strain onto Jasmine. Like average humans, her muscles will tire out after doing it a lot. It's rather for her to overexert herself, and feel burnt out. Fighting at full strength isn't exactly ideal. While Jasmine is tough as nails, she still feels pain. A punch can't hurt her normally. Her durability mostly prevents physical attacks from hurting her, elemental (Specifically Energy) attacks are effective against her. Getting set on fire isn't pleasant (Her blood might boil!), electricity would knock her out, and etc. And, you know, she still needs air. Jasmine's regeneration, while increasing her resilience by a large margin, is not completely unfailable. Shooting her in the head/heart will kill her like any other person.
Now, Jasmine is much stronger than she is tough. Even at her very best, her strength still outpaces her durability. Throwing full-strength punches like wild would tear up her hand, and while she can regenerate, that's still not something she likes doing. In fact, by going all-out, she impairs her own healing ability. By activating her power, Jasmine immediately packs on a lot more weight because muscle (especially superpowered muscle) is very heavy. Which, in turn, fucks with her balance by a great deal. Now, in order to accomplish her regeneration, Jasmine needs to get the biological materials from somewhere. Either from the food she eats, sunlight, or... her body can start cannibalizing biological materials. Such as, her muscles, or her organs. Which she won't be able to get back until she gets other materials to replace them.

Phoebe is certainly a stand out girl in her appearance. Due to her genes, puberty kicked in like a bitch and "awarded" her with some pretty impressive height for a girl her age. Instead of being around the female average, Phoebe herself is five-eleven, and it's all but confirmed that she'll get much taller with age (Hell, she may be over six feet tall once she fully develops). She isn't exactly proud of her height, because she gets picked on alot for being so damn tall. This is mostly genes originating from both her father's side - he's really tall.
The way Phoebe walks is that she has a bounce to her step. She takes slow and deliberate steps, that are, while careful, are quite large. She rarely takes massive steps that cross much distance. Though, once she gets moving, expect her to make good use of her size. She's thin as a rail. Her limbs are devoid of thickness, but they are easily the most muscular part of Phoebe. Phoebe isn't exactly super curvy. Her chest size is a tiny 30B, while she has a fat behind, she is still pretty thin.
Speaking of which, it's not unexpected for Phoebe to have some kind of bruises or cuts on her. Especially on her knees because she fell over, or some other hilarious injury because she's clumsy. Phoebe is African American, with bits of Ugandan, Ethiopian, and Kenyan, in her blood, which contributes to her appearance. Her facial features, skull-shape, and hair-texture, match Africans. Her skin is a very dark brown-ish black color. Has plenty of moles, and marks - more specifically, a mole on her cheek that seems to pop up whenever Phoebe smiles.

There are a lot of words to describe Phoebe. Passionate, reasonable, mature, reliable... and incredibly overdramatic. Phoebe fashions herself as a leader with her great social skills, and her knack for decision making. It seems like she is naturally talented at leading people. Course, she isn't a perfect leader due to a simple factor... The first problem she faces is that she is really competitive. She's just one gal' that doesn't like to be one-upped. Phoebe, despite all of her well-intentions, just wants to be seen as the best, and feed her ego. And when she competes against other people... well, let me just say that she gets animated.

Phoebe herself was born from an affair that her mother had with a foreign architect. The man had to leave, but kept funneling the two money from the sides so they can support each other. While having no father was hard, her mother had quite a large family that managed to help fill the role fairly well. Phoebe herself managed to grow up fine and healthy in her city of Seattle... until the arrival of her father came. It turns out that the bastard got divorced after finding out about her, and then he came to America for some work. Best of all; Phoebe has a sister! The two met... and immediately started hating each other. Phoebe didn't care for Jasmine's pretentious attitude, and wanted to knock her down a peg. Starting a rivalry between the two, and Jasmine pretty much destroyed Phoebe in any sports that she tried, and was a lot more popular in school.
That is, until Phoebe formed a complex, where she desperately tried to one-up Jasmine. So, she instead took her time learning academics, the one thing that she had a head start in. Reaching the top of the student council, and becoming the student council president at her school. Priding herself on reaching a level that Jasmine didn't. That's when her power developed, unfortunately. She didn't realize what had happened, but she turned invisible, and semi-intangible. Since her vision was terrible in this state, she had no idea what was going on until she accidentally fell through the floor.... into the middle of a class. Fully reverting to her human form.
A few tests later, and Phoebe's ability became quite apparent. She was a Metahuman to her bone... and was sent to the Promise Station where she'll be safe.

Super-System
▼ | P O W E R D E S C R I P T I O N : | Ghostwalking.
Phoebe has the ability to adopt ghost-like qualities. On command, she can shift form into a transparent - near-invisible - version of herself. This form is hard to see, but is quite noticeable as Phoebe will be a shimmer in the environment as she moves around. Transparent, but no means completely invisible. If she holds still, then she'll be incredibly hard to see. Any object that Phoebe is holding will also be invisible. The other half of Phoebe's ability is partial-intangibility. She'll function like a gas; objects will go through her, but she'll be stopped by walls and whatnot. And she can phase through any solids, and liquids. Phoebe can bring other people with her in this intangible state, at the expense of using up more energy. Phasing through objects produces a liquid-like ripple as she goes through it, and it roughly feels like she's stepping through cold water. Eventually, Phoebe will be able to become fully intangible and phase through any solids (instead the other way around). Now, while in this state, Phoebe seemingly has a higher agility than normal; being able to make large bounds, and can even delay her falls. In addition, whenever she ghostwalks, the area starts to feel oddly cold, especially the places where Phoebe phases through. Which brings up the question of whether or not it's more than mere intangibility.
▼ | L I M I T S | W E A K N E S S E S : |
There is a set amount of time that Phoebe can remain Ghost-walking: a minute before she starts pushing her body past its physical limits. She'll have to take a break before going again. Unless she really wants to push it, and if she does, then she'll start to feel extremely fatigued until she shifts back into her human state automatically. Pushing herself past that limit would risk ashing. Whenever she phases through an object, it'll expend some of her energy, and she'll have even less time to be ghost walking. The same applies if she takes people with her as she ghostwalks. Also, she can't phase through any object freely, only objects pass through her. Which makes her a step down from true Intangible types. Also, the harder and denser the material, the more energy it'll take to phase through it. Phoebe also can't interact with any objects while ghost walking.
Merely by shifting into her ghostwalking form, Phoebe greatly limits her own vision. She sees things in a black and white color, and can only vaguely see shapes. She can see movement just fine, but cannot see colors, or objects far away. She'll have to rely on her gut to get around, basically. Along with the fact that Phoebe can't communicate while ghostwalking. Phoebe cannot phase through energy, however. If she comes in contact with a reasonably large amount of electricity (say the circuitry in walls), she'll immediately switch back to her human form. This doesn't just mean electricity - heat, kinetic energy, and so on, will force her back if she's exposed to an intense amount of it. In addition, her ability is connected to her emotions, and if she lets them get too intense, then she'll switch back to her human form - or vice versa. There are a few clues that could give away her intangibility. The ripples that are created when she phases through objects are a dead giveaway that she's there, along with the chilling effect.

Due to her ethnic background, Lynwen has wavy, dark brown hair that looks black when not under light which she keeps short in a messy bob-cut, the end of the longest strands falling just shy of the top of her shoulders. She takes after her mother in regards to facial features and lithe body structure. She has high cheekbones and an oval face that ends in a sharp and pointed chin, framed by short side-fringes that are just a little longer than the rest of her hair. Her fairly-even-but-jagged forehead fringe is parted to the left and stops just above her slightly arched eyebrows, high enough not to get into her eyes when she does vigorous activities, or merely tilts her head down. She has a straight nose, thin, firm lips that are faintly pink and a strong jawline, making her more handsome than pretty. Her eyes are gunmetal-blue, staring piercingly out from under heavy-lidded eyelids, giving her a consistently bored look, as though she is always a minute away from dozing off. Her usual outfits consists of sneakers, long-sleeved turtle necked shirts and slacks of blue, grey and purples.
As a yoga-enthusiast, she can add excellent flexibility and muscle control to her physical attributes. Due to her short height and legs, Lynwen has gotten used to needing to keep pace with people with longer strides than her, thus, her steps are always brisk and purposeful. Not to mention, her posture is ramrod straight no matter if she sits or stands as she wishes to appear taller. Her height is something of a sore spot due to her family members all being a good few inches taller, and her refusal to wear uncomfortable heels just makes her all the smaller compared to her sisters and mother.

Lynwen has many different aspects to her personality. She is often serious, maintaining a bland expression which can turn into a sharp scowl if faced with something – or someone – she dislikes. As a member of a small, tight-knit community, her status as a person with abilities is sort of an open secret in that everyone knows, but no one mentions is aloud, even if they do keep a close eye on her. Thus, she tries to appear bland and unassuming. Her average looks, casual clothes that allows her to fade into the sea of youths around her age and mild-mannered speech all contribute greatly in making her seems like an ordinary, boring person.
But unknown to mere acquaintances, she has a humorous side, often displayed in the form of dry or sarcastic comments, especially when hanging around the few people she fully trusts – those with abilities or otherwise. People on that list includes her immediate family, a few select childhood friends, and a little old lady running the local bakery. Lynwen only allows herself to be carefree, loud and active when in a place she feels safe, such as her home and her university’s club room for metahumans. She is relatively caring in that while she doesn’t believe in sugar-coating the truth no matter how harsh it may be, she will break the news gently if that person is close to her, or is in visible distress, close to breaking down.
Lynwen is extremely practical, and strives to be a woman of sound moral principles, and would stand by them no matter what it cost her. She can be stubborn and hard-headed when she believes she is right, and refuses to be convinced otherwise unless the opponent manages to bring sound logic into the argument. Though she has a sharp tongue and has no problems in standing up to others when she is in a temper, Lynwen is still the type of person who would give others a second chance when they had proven themselves worthy of it. She refrains from judging people by first impression alone, and usually reserves her opinion until she knows them better. While she might be a hard person to offend, she can't stand being belittled, and can get rather competitive, especially if that particular person proves rather challenging. Her temper is a slow simmering fire, not easily coerced to rearing up and retaliate, but the right trigger works like kerosene, making it explosive and abruptly, but dwindles down quickly. The right trigger? Threatening her younger siblings. The older ones can take care of themselves, but the younger were her responsibilities.
▼ | B A C K S T O R Y : |
Born in the small Dajia District in Taichung, Taiwan, Lynwen is the eldest daughter in a family of seven, and the third eldest child. She was there for the birth of every younger sibling after her, and thus grew rather attached to each of them, annoying as they can get at times. Her two oldest brothers were six and ten years older respectively, meaning that they were able to finish school and move on with their lives even before she entered high school. Her oldest brother left to join the army, sending home electronic emails every now and then. It was during his third year in the army did he discover he was a metahuman, or more accurately, his team discovered it when he deflected a misfired energy beam. The army kept him on and continued to do so when he proved that he wasn’t going to get a big-head and go on a rampage. Lynwen’s family decided to keep this a secret to themselves.
Unfortunately for Lynwen, a little incident involving her youngest sister and a school bully turned into something more when her anger reached boiling point, and purple wisps started to gather around her hands as her emotions grew. She didn’t notice it at first, and only when her fervent wish of punting the bully into the nearby river caused a portal to open beneath his feet and another to open above the river that she eventually realised. But it was too late for her to will them close, for the boy dropped through the entrance and out the exit, splashing into the river before anyone could move. As her abilities surfaced before she could finish high school, it meant she couldn’t leave the town and had to face the stigma of being the second openly known metahuman in Dajia, which wouldn’t have been so bad if the first hadn’t gleefully used his powers to wreak havoc. But the people of the District were realistic, if nothing else. So while they judged her each time she passed their sight, they knew not to discriminate against until she did something truly drastic.
With two years of high school left and not wanting her studies to be affected just because her genetic makeup was a little different, Lynwen began to take advantage of her assuming looks and swapped her normally brightly coloured clothes for something more sombre and generic. She also took to wearing long-sleeves so no one will see the faint traces of purple wisps that sometimes linger for hours after she practiced her abilities at home. Already having experienced one metahuman in the family, the appearance of another didn’t really faze them, and for that, Lynwen couldn’t be more grateful. With this change as well as not using her abilities in public again, people start to relax around her again. ‘Far from sight, far from mind’, after all. The two years passed quickly and peacefully, and when the next summer came around, Lynwen was studying abroad in Australia, taking an undergraduate course in Environmental Science at the University of Queensland.
There, they had a special club room built for metahumans where they could just hang out, make friends and test their abilities against each other in good fun. Slowly, she began to relax and display her powers in public again. Well, semi-public, in this case. It was during the final week of her first year that a representative of ‘The Promise’ contacted her, offering her a place in the Academy, where she can learn to better control her abilities as well as finish her degree. Seeing the chance as something too good to pass up, she told her family about the offer, accepting it with their support. This would be her first year aboard ‘The Promise’, and she is looking forward to see what this institution can offer.

Lynwen possesses the ability to create a teleportation vacuum in which multiple people or objects can enter at the same time and deposited anywhere of her own choosing. The portals do not need a required space or surface to be create upon as it can be opened anywhere, even in mid-air. She can close this portal at will, and anything that does not exit the vacuum as it closes will be cut off from this dimension, supposedly forever as she has never tried to find out. It can be used for defensive purposes, for example, she can confuse and disorient people by forcibly dropping them into a portal, teleporting them away from their intended destination. Or it can be used to transfer projectiles/beams/objects away from their intended target and send them elsewhere. It is much easier and quicker for her to open portals where she can see it. In cases of long distance transport, she has to visualise it before opening the portal to deposit the people/objects currently in her portals.
▼ | L I M I T S | W E A K N E S S E S : |
Limit 1: The size of the portal she can open currently is the size of an average human. Limit 2: She needs an entry and an exit portal currently, however, as her powers grow with her concentration and mental fortitude, she will no longer need to open an exit portal at the place she wishes the person/thing to exit at. Weakness 1: She can only open two portals at a time max, one entry and one exit. Weakness 2: The length of time she can open portals is directly linked to her stamina and endurance as it saps her energy each second the portal is held open for. She can hold it open for ten seconds, and is able to push it to fifteen at the cost of waking up with a sore body and a migraine. Another two results in bleeding nose and unconsciousness. Any further and death is very likely.

1) If the object does not distort space-time sufficiently around it (e.g. it is not moving at a sufficient percentage of C or if it is not of significant enough mass) then the distortion of space-time around it would not be able to overcome the integrity of the space-time "hole" of the portal, and the area of the object that fits inside the portal will be teleported while the outside that does not fit in will continue onwards. 2) Since the portal is not a solid manifestation but a manipulation of space-time, one cannot grab onto the edge of they miss falling into the portal, or they fall into the portal against their will. 3) It is easy to tell when Lynwen is using/has been using her powers, as her hands, wrist and lower forearms are covered in dark purple wisps of energy identical to the dark purple outlines of her portals.
