I'll try to integrate Link Summon after this current tournament is over. Until then, we will be using the old mechanics. After we go to the next turn though, I'll try to introduce the VRAINS mechanics.

Easiest thing to do would just be to say that the rules set changed and leave it at that. Though, I don't think anybody's actually had more than one extra deck monster out at the same time, so it's safe to say that the mechanic's always been around.

Users of Link Summon, for now, will be consolidated into the Dark Magician House unless they favor another summon mechanic.

That is, if everyone is in agreeance. I'd really like to, but if a majority of users prefer I didn't, I will not.

@KOgamingi think we should stick with the current rules because it kinda makes no sense if we suddenly change it
don't think we even have link cards yet

Edit: I mean this is supposed to take place after/during the GX timeline right so it doesn't make sense to change it all the sudden lorewise

If we're going to change the rules and rulings, make it an event in-game. Much more fun to have our characters react to this change and presumable new house just like we are.

@The book of bad jujuI agree with that, though making it the new format while we had been dueling with the regular one and heck I am returning to yu-gi-oh and I am being enforced these new rules already? i think it's TOO early to change (also link cards aren't out yet right?)

So I googled that card you used, and it said you can't activate Crush Card Virus during the damage step?
So how does that work, exactly?

I couldn't find what you were talking about, but I don't believe it matters.

Every time you attack with a monster during the battle phase, you first "declare the attack" before the damage step happens. It is during this time that your opponent can still activate cards like Negate Attack or Crush Card Virus in response.

To be activated during the damage step usually only makes a difference when you want the attack target to be flipped face-up, which can be important for, for example, Sealing Ceremony of Mokuton, flip effects like Man-Eater Bug or continuous effects like Jinzo.

@Ryik

Neither of those cards have to do with monsters being face-up or the battle phase though.

Also, I'm still pretty certain I want to implement the new rules. If no more people speak against this, I'll be making an official announcement tomorrow.

?

Edited it several times for better examples soon after posting and now I don't know what you're referring to.

In any case, my point for Menhir was that Crush Card Virus doesn't need a face-up tribute, nor to be activated during the damage step to respond to an attack.

So, anyone seen the new Link Monster Reveal yet?

I'm going to spoiler my thoughts cause it's big damn news.

The one monster that immediately crossed my mind and would be nuked to shit probably most of all is Utopia Kaiser.

Not that it was a super good monster to begin with, but now it's basically unplayable because 'lel multiple xyz monsters wazzat?'.

@KOgaming

Tekkan had Photon Strike Bounzer and Castel out at the same time against Mike iirc.

Well, I don't claim to understand how that works, but okay. You're the cardgames expert.

But really, if you could have just done this whenever you felt like it, wasn't getting mad for a whole week kind of silly?

@Menhir
It's a lot clearer if you play the Yu-Gi-Oh games. If the option isn't disabled to only do so when holding down a certain button, it will prompt you if you want to chain things every god-damned second. During the battle phase, there is a very clear distinction between activating cards in response to an attack being "declared" and activating the card during the damage step. If you don't activate them when the attack is declared thinking you can just activate them during the damage step, then find out they can't be, you're out of luck.

As for the week of absence, I was sick as sin when you originally posted and spent a good two or three days lying in bed only getting up to eat, blow my nose and waste time online finding theme songs intended for other RPs. I didn't want to make posts while dizzy. That's on me.

I won't deny I dreaded playing it out against Vanity's Emptiness, and I forgot Vanity's Emptiness could destroy itself, or that Crush Card Virus exerts field control. I didn't expect Crush Card Virus to be so effective either, (without it, you were 700 points off of lethal) but even with all that, come now. I wasn't that spiteful. I was pissed, absolutely. I expected you to put thought into planning what would happen throughout the duel like a GM whose place you were filling would, only to be told you don't know how the actual deck I was using works and that you basically didn't care if you created an impossible scenario. It even seemed like you were just rubbing it in with the open field because Elly's deck had no way to actually take advantage of it with Vanity's up, but I got over it. Really, I did, with the very first response in our PMs. No, rather, we moved on to how much you hated how I RP.

6 days ago, I asked you if you wanted to collab a post, because it seemed like you didn't want a post-by-post duel despite insisting on it previously. You spent two days not giving me a direct answer. You took such issue, insulting me for not having Elly give these one-sided speeches every post, calling it hard to work with and dull. Despite this, you didn't want the back-and-forth a collab offers. You suggested I change her character, suggesting ideas that frankly, seemed neither more robust nor more interesting. You said I didn't seem to like interaction at all while having your character ignore what she says and does as if the latter half of every post is retconned along with actions taken after negations. (Which was kind of annoying, since you declined taking steps to prevent that too) It was this that, you could say, I got "mad" about, and we went on about it for a while, but ultimately, all of that isn't important.

4 days ago you said I should just go ahead and post, but since I got the message late in the day, I said I would post tomorrow, here, in the OOC tab. My sleep schedule at the time is kind of wonky, so RPguild says it was posted 2 days ago, but I did post it within 24 hours, and we continued to here from there.

I know I'm a huge asshole, and I'm sorry about that, but no, I don't feel silly.

At least there aren't all that many xyzs that relied on multiple xyz monsters to be out at all, unlike a certain other kind of cards with white backgrounds...

What's really weird about this is how much it hurts those tier 2, rogue and legacy decks that went off once in a blue moon but were so iconically yugioh. Grandsoil loop is gone. Electrogustav is gone. Those kooky Outer God and Goyo cards and anything involving Synchro Fusionist, also gone. Any strategy that relies on synchro summoning multiple synchros and feeling like yusei while you're doing it like debris junk doppel and quickdraw dandywarrior, gone. Any HERO deck that's not "how fast can I make dark law and have him stick?", gone.

I've decided to rule that for the sake of current events, a tag duel will use separate life points but a combined field/graveyard, and the duel isn't over until both players in a team are taken out, meaning that when one player reaches 0, as long as their partner is still up, they can still play. At damage calculation, the turn player will take the damage. If the turn player reaches below 0 LP, their partner will take the damage instead. Turns will rotate as they do in the Tag Force games where Team 1 Player 1 goes, Team 2 Player 1 goes, Team 1 Player 2 goes, Team 2 Player 2 goes, and so forth.

Unless Yuryuu lost half his Life Points against the Black Luster Soldier player, duels start with 8000 Life Points in this current battle royale tournament and don't carry over between duels. Just in case you didn't catch that.

@KOgamingI was playing with the idea it's not going to follow the real rules tag duels but more a battle royale with 4 players because of the event they are in

Edit: Reminds me... KO you gonna tackle that 20500 LP NPC?

Oh shit you're right.

Well uh. Tekkan definitely isn't taking them down.

@The book of bad juju, please tell me you intended that to be a joke as well as a means of knocking Aya out of the tournament.

Otherwise, we've got trouble.

@GarlandDaHero Her entire strategy is based around self-milling her own deck repeatedly to power up some okayish bricky monsters. If you can't make like Donald Trump and build a wall till she mills herself out, that's your own lookout.
