@MrDidact I also wanted to ask because I'm curious. How much Dragon lore have the Targaryans recovered? there are several key things specifically I'd like to know if the historians would know and any charcters would know.

1. Targaryen's aren't fire proof
2. A dragon due to it's long life can have many riders
3. That not all Targaryen's can ride dragon
4. that riding another person's dragon is a suicide (I recognize this contradicts 2)
5. That anyone with targaryen blood including Tyrion can attempt to tame and ride a dragon

As an additional note, are dragons comfortable with non-Targaryen passengers?

I could do a collab with ya btw, but I'm not sure how to work the setup of it all, and whether or not Ellion does any more fighting is really dependent on if the GM wants to keep things moving, which I'd be inclined to given that I want Ellion to do some non-martial things.

@Greenie This time with boats!

@agentmanatee Look forward to reading it!

@Masterkeun They know all of those things since they have access to all manner of histories and treatises on dragons written by maesters and other historians

@kingkonrad It really depends. As far as I can tell in the actual series, a potential rider's success is greatly influenced by how much valyrian blood they have. The only non-Targ riders in Westeros history however have been Velaryons and I think the current Targs would want to keep their monopoly on what basically amounts to WMDs.

So a non-Targ and non-Velaryon might be able to ride a dragon but their chances of ever having the opportunity to do so are incredibly slim. Especially because the Targs hoard their eggs and would be unwilling to bestow them on anyone outside the family. You'd have to find another dragon egg somehow, hatch it somehow, and then tame the beast somehow.

After manatee posts, I'll probably start working on a mini-update that doesn't include the evening festivities but will have the opening rounds of the grand melee. So all the fighters might have an opportunity to get fights in there before me and Nightwing finish up with the later phase of the melee.

@MrDidact

More to do if, say, a Targaryen and a Non-Targaryen rode one. (ask Abe, he knows ;) )

Theon was also a soft man who paid the gold price and pissed into a pot instead of the sea. :v

@kingkonrad Oh I think as long as the dragon's actual rider is present, the non-Targ passengers have a decent chance of making it out alive.

@Greenie Me too. Let's just say said conflict may or may not erupt over the course of the adventure scenario I'm planning.

@Asura Them Ironborn and their progressive culture amirite?

They differ greatly from the mainland nobility.

In that, they're honest about being thieves and murderers. :p

The only question is, is how heavy handed Victarion's boy is. Gregor or Sandor?

Mah gawd, all these hardcore PCs might cause King's Landing to implode with testosterone.

I like to think Asha wouldn't raise her nephew to be a soulless murder machine like Gregor but who knows?

I was under the impression Victarion lived long enough to instill some piss and vinegar in at least his firstborn before croaking. Asha doesn't honestly seem the 'raise a child who isn't mine' type.

Asha to me seemed like the kind who doesn't worry too much about blood, rather potential. But I may be wrong, still have to read more.
