Disclaimer: This is NOT an RP about religion or faith. This is purely a work of fiction for the sake of fun. In this instance there are simple divine creatures - some what we call good; some not so good.
You are a new angel. Angel, at least that’s what you call it. You have no other word for it. But it would be hard to compare you to biblical angels. But you are most definitely not human. You grew up believing you were an ordinary human - and then you awakened.
Standard New Angel Abilities
Disease Resistant - you never get sick anymore, at least not from mundane causes.
Unaging - You stopped aging. You may have been a teenager; you may have been an older man. Some believe the age at which you awaken is determined by the purpose you will serve. A teenaged angel might be used to help guide fellow teenagers through the early stages of their life. An older man might be used to impart wisdom, or inspire older people.
Hypersenses - Your 5 senses are at the peak of humanity, bordering on superhuman.
Attunement - You can use attune yourself to the senses of a mortal - see what they see, hear what they hear, etc. True, their senses probably aren’t as good as yours. But you might be able to detect whether a mortal is dyslexic, deaf, in pain, etc. This ability is line of sight.
Divine Sense - You can see other angels (or demons). Elder divines may be able to cloak themselves from you. Mentors often do so. (See Obfuscate.) You can tell demons and angels by their auras and eyes. In the case of lesser divines only the eyes are apparent. But as they grow in power their whole body begins to glow.
Aura Vision - This is how you see mortals. Some give a glow. Others live in shadow. But it only occurs in your immediate presence (or if highlighted by the presence of another divine). It resembles fluorescence of minerals by UV light except that some become darker. Whether they glow or are shadowed is determined by the nature of their soul.
Celestial Chorus - this is basically just the ability for angels (and demons) to speak with one another telepathically. It is NOT mind reading - though another angel may know you aren’t being completely honest (and an elder may know the truth). This ability is limited to line of sight. (This might not apply to elders if that have remote sensing.) Demons can call this the Infernal Channel.
Toughness - You may be unaging and resistant to disease but your body is not immortal. You can be shot, stabbed, killed, etc. Granted it isn’t easy to actually kill you. So long as your survival is reasonably explained, you can survive. But no you can’t suddenly come back from the dead. The Powers That Be frown on that. Miracles aren’t how we do things these days - at least not the blatant sort. But your Mentor may collect you and give you a new Identity. Fortunately the same is true of demons.
Environmental Toughness - You can’t starve to death or die of thirst. But you can suffer the effects. You can withstand temperatures that most mortals would succumb to allowing you to perform some truly heroic feats. You can hold your breath for periods that are superhuman, but within belief.
Peak Human Condition - you are capable of physical feats not unlike those of heroes like Batman. Of course, you will lack their skills. But you can perform those feats you hear about like a woman tearing a car door open to rescue her child. Please note: if you are not already in such shape normally, use of this ability will have a devastating effect on your body.
Elder Angel Abilities (Known ones)
Identity - This is the ability to assume an identity. It is an ability that must never be abused. Most often it is used upon New Angels to give them a new mission in life. Once used everyone around the angel will see and know the identity as constructed.
Ascension - much like it sounds, elder angels can become creatures of pure energy.
Obfuscate - the ability to make oneself invisible to the minds of others.
Angel Rules
Never tell a mortal what you are - not that they would believe you. This rule applies to demons as well.
Never take the life of a mortal. This applies to demons as well, though not as stringently. There is a reason for this. The Dark Ones prefer to let mortals or natural causes take the lives of mortals. Bottom line for a demon is - get permission - and don’t ask question is the answer is no.
Angel and Demon Hierarchies
Demons especially are organized much like the maffia. Someone down there has rules for them to abide by. But different maffias compete. And in that light demons compete with angels for the souls of mortals. Of course, you have no idea why exactly. It is some sort of a war. And there are rumors that angels can become demons or simply cast out of the ranks. The reverse is far less likely.
Characters
For this RP I plan to have everyone start as a New Angel. Your age will reflect the sort of missions you will typically pull. You will be newly awakened and thus very new to this angel game and have a Mentor checking on you constantly. You should have a normal mundane identity. However, if you like we can arrange for your “death” and a new identity as per the Elder ability. Usually though, it is simply an awakening. And you may be freaking about seeing other angels and demons.
I would also like people to double up and play some of the mortals.
I plan to run a Mentor. I may also run a new angel - likely in fact as a Mentor tends to be OP compared to the rest and that is just no fun.
Demons - For now, no. I do plan to run some. Odds are I will pick some of the more active members with angels and ask them to double. But I don't want to start out the RP with half a dozen demons.

This is really going to depend on the characters. If a mortal is in a gang we’ll have one setting. If they are a teenager in school, we have another. And your character identities will influence how you handle things. In the case of a teenager mortal, you might be a teacher, fellow student, the new student … Or maybe they have a friend getting into drugs and are thinking of taking drastic actions - like going after the dealers. Maybe the mortal will be some depressed college dropout trying to make ends meet and losing hope.
There is, of course, a deeper plot. It is my hope that you new angels will meet up and get to know each other. You don’t have to agree with methods. Sometimes tough love works better. You don’t even have to have faith. For all I care you can be an atheist or agnostic. You can even deny what you are. But you should know that is a painful process.
New Abilities
This question is bound to come up. NO .. you may not add your own. This gives godmodding a whole new meaning considering the nature of the RP. But eventually I may give young angels a new ability. If so, it will be somewhere between new angel abilities and Elder. Please do NOT ask for these abilities. I will only award them to the most active, best writers whose efforts improve the stories.
