But where should I put him so he starts near someone?
Hello. I've been sitting in the fence for a while, but I think I could give it a shot.Liquidators:
The Liquidators was an organization borne of the ashes of the old world, perhaps in more ways than one. The 2017 UN directive, Disaster Relief and Oblivion Prevention (DROP) was passed just before the survivors of the General Assembly died by radiation poisoning. Not many managed to hear it, given how quickly communications degradated, but a cluster of survivors which comprised part of Geneva's populace as well as part of the staff at CERN who took refuge in the deep tunnels of the research complex in the Alps heeded the call. The order exhorted to action against the disaster that befell, and compell all those with a sense of civil duty to take upon themselves and help restore the world, so that the failure of the Old World would not mean the oblivion of the species. These survivors looked no further than the earlier, much smaller case of nuclear disaster, Chernobyl to find a name: Liquidators.
Liquidators are few in number, and their number dwindles each day, but they all share the same desire and strong conviction as their UN forebears. No matter the cost, and even risking their own life, cleanse the world and restore it so humanity can thrive in the future. Each liquidator wears a blue armband with a red blood drop, symbolizing both the UN and the squads whom they owe the name to.Rescue, Relief, Repair and Restore
Leader:??? (Remnants of the United Nations) / Alden Wolfe (New York mission)
Members:Name: Alden Wolfe, "Old Wolf".
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Nomadic or sedentary: Nomadic - His job requires him to be such.
Weapons: A swiss pocket knife. He used to carry guns, but a seastorm made him lose them.
Skills: Alden is a bit of a bum, and he will never admit he has some sort of skills...but he's good at what he used to do. Namely popping up heads of Middle Eastern guerrillas, as a British trained sniper in the service of Her Majesty. Alden's age has not slowed him down an inch, and he's still the same elusive lean and mean tough bastard he used to be when he was serving the British army. He knows how to put shots that many others can't as well as blend like a rock with the terrain. Add his own slew of fitness, a fast left hook and an unconquerable willpower and staggering resilience and you've got one mean old bastard. Alden knows also French, but he's got a horrible accent.
Any unusual traits? Does it show physically?: Well he hasn't gotten any mutation or anything, but the old guy has survived nuclear apocalypse for this long. He also has undertaken Resistance to Interrogation and Torture courses.
Appearance: A gruff old man with a large scar on his left cheek and pale complexion, keeping a grayish short but unkept beard. He's average, somewhat toned, but tends to be the kind of having a powerful muscle core in the midsection rather than a beefed up Mr Muscle. He has gone completely bald, and his eyes are of an icy blue quality. He wears a brown flatcap for that very reason, matching a longcoat of the same color which shows the signs of wear and tear. His attire is complete with trousers and boots...aswell as a white shirt who's normally not seen because he sports a black ballistic vest aswell. He also carries the Liquidator's armband.
Brief Personality: Alden is a serious, no nonsense kind of man at first glance, although a lot of people can be taken aback by the occasional dry wit and sarcastic comment. He is dilligent and polite, and rarely raises his voice to be heard. Alden has a strong fatherly instinct on those younger than them, and he'd often try to help them and offer them counsel. Alden vocally despises the Old World's violence and weaponry, and he never runs short of cynical comments about them, urging the youngsters to never follow that path ever again. He carries no small amount of guilt and grief, as he felt he was somehow part of the problem. However, when the chips are down, Alden shows little to no hesitation to fight back as hard and vicious as possible, and marauders are a particulary object of hatred for him due to their similarities to the enemies he had fought before the nuclear war.
Background: Alden was the son of a shepherd in rural england. Many a joke was made at the expense of his surname, what with a Wolfe guarding sheep. Like others before him, he enlisted in the army, probably to escape a life of eternal boredom among the grass-grazer animals. Turns out, he made a good choice, or at least he thought so at first. He was a talent in raw, and soon enough he became a crack shoot among his peers. Yet his skill turned to a curse the moment he was ordered to kill people. He did his duty, but never enjoying it once. His skill kept growing, and he was called to more and more dangerous missions. Eventually he earned the nickname "Wolf" when he managed to outsmart some guerillas in one of the unstable regions of the Middle East after his companion spotter had been killed in combat and picked them one by one.
Eventually, he was sent home to rest. It was then when he knew his love, Monique Beaufort, a kindergarten teacher, in a trip to the french Brittany. For some reason, the two hit off almost immediately, even though Alden himself lied through his teeth, and told Monique he was some sort of cop (he couldn't admit he had been killing in some cases, children soldiers). A few rounds of wine and fine french food, and both were decided to elope to the Alps.
That's when the bombs fell. Both were able to survive thanks to getting trapped in a train tunnel midway through the mountains. The truth about Alden's job resurfaced, and for a time, he feared rejection from his lover, but Monique never did so. Instead, she clasped his hand tightly, and told him they would take their time to think after everything was over. Eventually, both of them reached Geneva, finding more survivors among the Swiss country. They were starting reorganizing after the cataclysm, and Alden heard of the DROP directive. Stating his name and rank, he volunteered to join the newly appointed Liquidators, while his soulmate took care of the children refugees.
As years passed, both never left their appointed roles, and kept staying close to eachother. Alden would embark in several Liquidator missions, with little to no success, and great loss, but always would return to his beloved. However, they never had children, and on the fourth attempt after three miscarriages, Monique died alongside the unborn children. Alden was heartbroken, however he couldn't afford to become catonic or mourning. With so much still to do in the world, he clutched his fists and volunteered for one of the most suicidal missions.
New York. After all, his deceased wife had always wanted to see it. Alden then took a Yatch alongside a companion, and set sail from a port of France, towards the ocean beyond. His trip was fraught by near-starvation, his companion's death and seastorms, but somehow...somewhat, he was able to reach the port of New York. His last mission, he could feel it in his bones, as he saw the Statue of lady Liberty in sight.
Alone or with someone?: Alone. Probably.
Other: Alden keeps a locket with a photography of his beloved wife, as well as an urn with her ashes and that of his unborn kids. He also carries a well-used Liquidator manual, with all sorts of technical and legal stuff, really.
