One Piece: On Stranger Tides

Borrowed from Scio

Seventeen years ago, the world changed. One man of implacable zeal and indomitable will, the Pirate King, met his end after sharing with the world the existence of his greatest treasure. Lust, greed, and pride brought a slew of pirates, invoking the wrath of the World Government and the Marines, starting something more akin to a war in this new age of piracy.

Some seas fared better than others: the Grand Line saw a boom of commerce as adventurers and pirates alike arrived, but with so many bloody accidents, costly miscalculations, and gruesome battles, the death toll seemed to rise much more. The East Blue remained mostly tranquil, as it had often been, as did the West. The North boomed loudly, but in the South, there was trouble. Though it was the largest of the seas by population, it did not have the peace of the East, the technology of the North, or the history of the West. Without the staying power of tranquility, craft, or tradition, the South saw the largest boom in piracy from the Blue Seas. Some tales traded of chaos at Reverse Mountain where too many ships tried to enter simultaneously in the dawn light, rushing as if One Piece was just on the other side. Worse yet, the increased piracy left less of the able bodied to defend cities, making it all to easy for failed pirates to return to their seas with many undefended islands to plunder. Some failed pirates turned to other avenues of crime, abusing the fact that the Marines and law enforcement were spread thin.

Countries fell, only to be replaced with new regimes, just to fall once again. Marines, fatigued from the constant struggle, fell to corruption and greed to ease their burden. The seas have quieted in parts, but under the surface lies a thick layer of blight, and thundering skies approach. The seas have never been stranger.

Alright folks here's the deal. We're going to have at least 1 pirate crew, possibly more, and possibly a marine crew. Basic gist is the crews have known each other for a week or so and they'll sailing to an island where they run into an adventure. After that finishes they head off to another adventure. Each player will be responsible for creating at least the outline of an adventure for the crew. These adventures can include specific plot points for your characters, item upgrades, devil fruits, etc. Your characters aren't new to the gig, but they aren't pros either. Something along the lines of Luffy before gear 2nd might be a good comparison. Logia's are fine as long as your character can't transform into the element fully, so they're still vulnerable to most methods of attack. You can start without a devil fruit and have a chance to get one later on. If you have a certain way you want your character to progress feel free to PM me and we can work your intended progression in with the various adventures as they come along. If you have any question please feel free to speak up, I'm by no means an expert GM so I don't expect to do everything perfectly. Post your characters sheet in the OOC and when approved put in the character tab. Please use hiders for your character sheets as well.

Name: Blake "Demon Brawler" Hunter
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Appearance: The first impression people have of Hunter is his outfit. He wears a Marine Captain's coat dyed red with blood. Under the coat, his outfit is smart but rough. He wears a red dress shirt, with the top buttons undone, with a black waist coat made from some form of leather. Across his torso and waist are holsters for his guns and knives. His trousers are a deep brown, and look to be made of a hearty material. On his feet he wears a pair of black naval boots that come up to his knee. His hair is prematurely grey, and comes down to his shoulder in wild waves, and he has a scruffy doorknocker beard. His frame is above-average in height, with a musculature built from a lifetime of fighting. The origins of Hunter's family is probable the equivalent of Italian, as his features and tanned skin reflect this, though his piercing grey eyes suggest a much more northern heritage.
Personality: The name of "Demon Brawler" doesn't seem to belong to Hunter in his day to day life. A stoic person by nature, he spends most of his time pouring over maps and charts, trying to make sure the crew is on the right track, as his dream is to see the world. He is a man of his word, and is far more literate than the averge pirate. But when a fight erupts, his namesake becomes apparent. He is a brutal fighter, often ending up drenched in his enemies blood, continuing to mutilate a fallen foe even after they have long since perished.
Bio: Not much is known about Hunter before he massacred a Marine Outpost in the middle of South Blue. A base of a hundred people wiped out in a single night, for reasons that Hunter has never disclosed. He was twelve years old at the time. From that point on, the boy moved from one crew to another, constantly being betrayed due to his tantalisingly large bounty on his head. After an escape gone wrong, he ended up at a fishing village where he made a life in anonymity for a time. He was just tired of all the backstabbing both literally and figuratively. Over the years he built up a connection with the villagers, and even thought of giving up on the sea... but alas fate had other plans. A Marine ship docked for supplies, and Hunter was unfortunate enough to have been in the market for the same reason. The two encountered one another, and the village was caught in the crossfire of their fight. Realizing the village would be in danger as long as he was there, Hunter left, taking the bloodstained coat of the captain to add to his intimation. Eventually, he found a group who he could actually put his trust in, and set off with them for adventure.
Hunter is an above average marksman and a superior brawler, able to take on multiple foes simultaneously without breaking a sweat. He possesses a knack for reading both the winds, and people's intentions, which has saved him on more than one occasion.
Inventory: On his person Hunter always has four flintlock pistols, as well as two knives for close range combat. He also has a satchel filled with various navigation tools, but he often leaves it on the ship.

It's a wee bit edgy, but not excessively so. If you fix the formatting to more like I made it, or just copy-paste this one, then you can put it in the cs tab.

So. Random thought that just came to me after admiring the art that is the picture I chose for Anna. It appears she is wearing a necklace that could very well have the Jolly Rodger symbol for the crew. Or not. We have to come up with a name too.

I apologize for the double post. Again. I am a doof.

@blumenk Dawn Seeker seems more like the name of the ship rather than the name of the crew. Like how the Straw Hats had the 'Going Merry' and the 'Thousand Sunny', but the crew was called the 'Straw Hats'. If you catch my drift.
