Alright here's our list of interested parties and species claims:
Krogan: 3 (maybe 4)
Quarian: 1 (maybe 2)
Human: 2 (maybe 3)
Batarian: (maybe 1)
Turian: (maybe 2)

I actually have about 1700 words written up of background that won't be affected by the events of the game series for a krogan character, so that is for sure a submission I'm putting forward, although if absolutely need be, I could work on a turian character, although I have less ideas for him.

I figured I'd go over what people said so far so we wouldn't end up with mostly marginalized species as player characters. :P

I'm actually working on a "just in case" turian character as well and seeing how the submissions go/ what character I feel more connected with prior to submitting, or if the GMs decide that certain species are restricted or unavailable.

Chiming in here, I'm Sam's Co-Gm. I'm really impressed by how pro-active all you guys are; Sam has final say on who will be in the RP of course but I am glad to see so much enthusiasm.

I did have a feeling most people would want to play outcast races though :P For what it's worth my own character will be a Turian Spectre and Sam will be playing a Spectre as well.

Unfortunately, two PC Spectres is our cap for the RP. The characters Sam and I play will be the ones that are (nominally at least) in charge of the crew. It wouldn't make sense for another Spectre PC to be taking orders from them and would be unfair to other players since Spectres are literally supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to military and covert operations and have political authority on par with an ambassador.

For the sake of clarification, I was going to have my character have worked with a Spectre during the Reaper war, so would it be kosher for there to be a brief history with an NPC Spectre to kind of get their names recognized by the Spectre office as a cooperative asset?

I am fine with that. I just have a question about the Quarian. Did they win or lose the Battle of Rannoch? Because I was planning on my character to be apart of the Battle of Rannoch and the Reaper War.

@Dervish It's entirely possible for your character to have done that.

@The Spectre We were going to have it that Shepard managed to negotiate a peace between the Migrant Fleet and the Geth Collective.

@Leos Klien You misunderstand. Sam is looking for a dedicated group of players, but there shouldn't be any other Spectre PCs besides the ones Sam and I play for the reasons stated above. The rest of the PCs are part of a Spectre-led Task Force akin to Shepard's crew and squad of allies in the Mass Effect games.
