@The Harbinger of Ferocity@mdk I'm curious on what you guys think of George Bush's remarks on bigotry. He never said Trump, but what is your thoughts on that? Andy too, if he's around.
His remarks on bigotry are fine. W always struck me as a leader and a man of strong moral character.
I think he's missing the forest for the ugly trees, a bit, though -- hell we're all doing that. The whole racial-nativism business, like, I get it -- it's a thing, it exists, it's bad. I don't buy that it's anywhere near as prevalent as they're trying to make it sound. I'm on T_D nearly every day, and I just plain don't see it. We fucking love legal immigrants of every background. We want that. When people get up on stage and lecture "not necessarily Trump" and "not necessarily Trump supporters" about shit we don't even believe, and everyone else starts eating it up like the cure for cancer, it's easy to feel like we're being treated a little unfair. I don't think that's gonna bridge any divides.
Anywho.
I don't think there's anything wrong with putting our own interests first in any arena of any kind. I think he's wrong on globalism, I think Obama's wrong on globalism, and I think our debt growth under those two would back me up. I think it's ridiculous that
$100k of Russian facebook ads are being blamed for the hostility of a
$5billion collective campaign of hatred -- it's a pathetic excuse for a scapegoat so that we can conveniently ignore our own lack of respect for one another and I resent the establishment (right and left, mostly left and RINOs) for pushing it to exempt themselves from guilt. I think Bush (ironically, as a pretty liberal spender) is now singing the right tune on the private sector, and
that's working out pretty well.
And FWIW, I think it's
absolutely hilarious that Donald Trump's power level is so high that he's got leftist propaganda outlets singing praises to
George W. Bush.
That's.... generally my response to all that. Was there anything in particular you were interested in discussing?
