I don't think southern hillbillies would have the money to get a gun with a biometric device so that's a big voter population that won't agree right there in the case of America.

Giving the majority of school funding to guns makes about as much sense as giving the most funding to football oh wait

Not every teacher should be armed and any who are should be processed, vetted, trained, and kept on a living record. It should be a conceal carry option for those that qualify in it, with the addition that if a school does not wish firearms to be on the campus in the hands of teachers, either because they cannot afford a privately owned weapon or because ideologically they are against firearms, there should be a waiver written for it. This would place all liability on the school itself and it need to find alternative means that afford the same level of protection, be that a police officer, rather officers, by an agreement with local or state law enforcement, or by using other techniques such as metal detectors, interlocks, and screening areas to achieve roughly similar effect.

I certainly do not believe every teacher should be armed, but those who are should be held to the highest standards of reliability and follow processes the federal government already uses for the arming of its members and when they are not authorized to bear firearms. Example being that if said certified teacher is on medication that is mind or mood altering, they are not permitted to carry their weapon; same with those undergoing counselling or those with financial issues. In short, lift a process from one side that does work and has worked and shift it over to the other.

U.S school spending has almost always gone up and gone up a lot. So not having a budget to afford pencils, is a fairly bullshit analogy.

And while I think arming every single teacher is an unreasonable request, having armed security is perfectly legitimate. While being a band-aid to solve another possible problem, that along with having metal detectors. Might just be the smartest and most effective way to deal with this issue.

Nearly all mass shootings are taken place in gun-free zones. We have a consistent pattern and that's a solution that's actually constitutional.

Sports should be funded strictly from their ticket sales. If the team can't support itself from ticket sales the team shouldn't exist. All that taxpayer money wasted on sports could more than make up for any budget shortfalls.

As for arming teachers, I have to pay for my guns they have to pay for their guns. If they want taxpayer money to cover the guns used on the job they can quit being teachers and become law enforcement.

@Penny Many teacher huh? Joking

Any actual recorded evidence of this? That sounds like a completely unverifiable claim.

I was basing it off the many public school teachers I've meet over the years. Fortunately there are other resources http://lmgtfy.com/?q=teachers+buying+class+room+supplies+out+of+pocket

I mean if we are speaking out of pocket we should probably then all discuss the random equipment the Department of Defense forces military members to pay out of pocket on regular nonsense like pens, ink, paper, paper towels and the like because the budget vanishes and you are expected to still do your job. Nothing like fraud, waste, and abuse in every sector of the government, or even say hearing stories about contractors using parts of equipment they bought from the local hardware stores to get the mission done.

Sorry, but not sorry, I would much rather spend money on getting willing, vetted, reviewed, trained, concealed carry certified teachers, even a couple per school, than buying more ink or paper for anyone in the government hands down. Let alone funding more opportunities for campus police or giving the school screening tools if they want to buy into the "Gun-free Zone" nonsense, so long as parents or guardians sign a waiver acknowledging that help is only coming when someone calls the police.

@Penny AFk. But I mean if we're comparing anecdotal evidence. My family has teachers that don't have these problems. But it's not like I'm defending the american school system. I couldn't have a lesser opinion actually. So if that's the case, doesn't surprise me. But the general statement was still absurd. Because they can take those expenses out of their taxes among other things.

You don't go into teaching to make a lot of money, unless you can tutor rich kids maybe then.

From my experience people go into two teaching for one of two reasons.
1. They want to be teachers, they want to shape the next generation or whatever. (the good kind of teacher)
2. They couldn't hack it in their chosen degrees in college so they slid into the easy degree, education. (the kind of teacher that belongs at McDonalds or digging ditches or whatever menial labor job they can get)

I have only heard one of those types bitch about their pay. If it takes you more than one guess to figure it out, you were probably taught by the ones doing the bitching.

Why does it have to be just federal? Still got state tax payer money. Either way my tax money be it federal or state is being spent on shit that does not educate in any way in the education budget. It does the opposite, kids are given passing grades just so they can keep on playing, furthering the trope in real life of the dumb jock.

How much state money, then?

WHAT I'M DRIVING TOWARDS IS -- I don't really agree that sports (or choir, or any of the other extra-curriculars) are a waste of money but, generally speaking, school budgets are a community affair. Very much a local policy. You don't have to be a Clinton to have a say in that. Hit up your town hall, vote in local elections, hell run for the school board. We can both have our way, which is awesome.

I vote in every election. Not that it does much good, voting for one scumbag or another. Just got to choose which one is the least scummy.

With the obvious exception of Donald Trump, who is a perfect human in every conceivable way. We should all aspire to be so orange.
