Aquarious the mysterious
-Image provided later-

Aquarious is a mysterious elf that normally sticks to himself. His name is odd for an elf, for he was raised on the coast by his grandmother. He lives near the edge of mirkwood, on the largest river. He is asked frequently by the mirkwood elves for guidance, for he is older than most of them. He normally helps the rangers as entertainment and pay. Many think him not the race that he appears, but there is little proof. He is greatly skilled in the silent arts and dabbles in magic, but prefers swords and speed over what spells he knows. When the mirkwood elves were called, they asked him to accompany their repersentative. He had to be swayed with gold and the reason why in order to go.

He has many friends in middle earth, even among more elf-hating dwarves believe it or not. He is quite when traveling, but very wisecracky. He always makes constructive-critsism jokes about others. He has a short temper, and the only way to calm him is to flater him.

He prefers walking over horseback, and horses don't really like him either. He is good friends with the wizards and sells potions(Things like acids, salvents, and a few other things) to Gondor. People think that he has a lot of treasure, because he is able to buy everything he needs from a smith if he needed "gold"(as in fancy) armor. When he eats, he will eat mostly fish and sometimes nothing but it, which he normally eats with kelp and vegatative land fairing plants. When people ask things about him he litteraly runs off. He refuses to explain to anyone his history, for in his words, "Beings lesser than a wizard shall not know my secrets, for they are MINE!" which he says.

Aquarious normally keeps duel short swords as a deffensive measure, for he prefers to trick them before fighting unless its orcs and goblins.

Does Aquarious now get to join the fray?

Not a GM, but can I ask, why does everyone apparently like Aquarius? It seems weird to have a character who is universally respected by basically every major race. What has he done that makes Mirkwood like him, an outsider, enough to pay him to go with their representatives to address a major international crisis?

He like to seclude himself, he does bizarre, childish things like literally running off when the subject of his past is brought up, he dabbles in magic (which many non-elves greatly distrust), he is disliked by horses, he is apparently vain and succumbs to flattery easily, and and he has a short temper—these are all things that seem to make him very untrustworthy and unlikely to have a huge network of friends and allies across Middle Earth, right? Like, look at Gandalf. He spent more years than this guy possibly could've just wandering Middle Earth, offering sincerely helpful advice, turning the tides during periods of war, and even then by the time of the War of the Ring many considered him a cheap conjuror and/or a meddler.

@Dealdric Forgive me if I overstep my bounds, but I think you might have misconstrued what the RP is aiming for. Certainly an Elf is fine, in and of itself. However, the main gist of the RP is to gather people from the different cultures of middle earth and put them together in order to find a solution to this new problem threatening Arda.

Your character seems to be outside the norm in a way Tom Bombadil is, which is quite a leap. The RP is for gaining representatives of the races, rather than those who vastly deviate from them. That, and there is very little history to him. You've explained little of his characteristics. Not to mention the spelling errors, and this is an advanced roleplay.

I love that you've got enthusiasm, and at the end of the day it's not my call. But the Co-GM's seem to be trying to tell you that we're looking for people in the universe who work with the lore, rather than the game-breaking wanderer with no known past, even out of character that is an exception to the lore.

A. When I'm typing as fast as I can go in order to get things done, I f*%& up.

B. I had originally had in mind that he was very odd for his kind and he does favors for people, but I left that out by accident.

C. He is called the mysterious for a reason.

Aquarious is a mysterious elf that sticks normally to himself. His name is odd for an elf, for he was raised on the coast by his grandmother, who taught him many things. He lives near the edge of mirkwood, on the largest river. He is asked frequently by the mirkwood elves for guidance, for he is older than most of them(around 2,457, give or take ten years). He normally helps the rangers as entertainment and pay. He is greatly skilled in the silent arts and dabbles in magic, but prefers swords and speed over what spells he knows. When the mirkwood elves were called, they asked him to accompany their repersentative. He had to be swayed with gold and the reason why in order to go. He asked for the gold just to be spiteful, for he was in a foul mood.

He has many friends in middle earth, even among more elf-hating dwarves believe it or not. He has done so by helping and giving a hand to those he now calls friends. He is quite when traveling, but very wisecracky. He always makes constructive-critisism jokes about others. He has a short temper, and the only way to calm him is to flater him. He has developed this behavior because he wanted people to respect him more or fear him from examples of dwarves and some humans. Past expeirences have also affected this, normally more traumatic events. He, however, is very trusting, always telling the truth and his speaking his mind.

He prefers walking over horseback, and horses don't really like him either. He is good friends with the wizard Radagast and sells potions(Things like acids, salvents, and a few other things) to Gondor. He has learned most things like his potions and magic from various people, including thr rangers, radagast, and a few dwarves. People think that he has a lot of treasure, because he is able to buy everything he needs from a smith if he needed "gold"(as in fancy) armor. When he eats, he will eat mostly fish and sometimes nothing but it, which he normally eats with kelp and vegatative land fairing plants. When people ask things about him he litteraly runs off for he doesn't wish for people to now what he has expeirenced. He does tell one story to silence people. When he was very young, he ran into armored trolls and orcs on his travels. He was tortured ferosiously, often being even forced to fight other prisoners. He eventually got the keys fro his guard by headbutting the orc after insulting it. He then killed his guard and through the body in a nearby fire, then fleed after finding his stuff. He refuses to explain to anyone more of his history, for in his words, "Beings lesser than a wizard shall not know my secrets, for they are MINE!" which he says.

Aquarious normally keeps duel short swords as a deffensive measure, for he prefers to trick them before fighting unless its orcs and goblins.

Any particular reason why you've responded to the PM in the OOC?

Anyway, regardless of that, I have no idea what else I can say to you. You've ignored half of the criticism I've given you, and then rather than rewrite certain bits, you've just padded them out with more unlikely - and frankly, Gary-Suish - scenarios. You're not accepting my help, so I suggest we leave this matter until @Lucian can throw in his two cents. But I feel I should reiterate BurningCold's point from the PM - this is a high-casual to advanced roleplay. You can't get away with things that are either not explained, or done so so flimsily that it can't be taken seriously.

I tried to make it pretty clear in the opening post that, despite not looking for much in the way of a CS, I do require a knowledge of the lore. I like your enthusiasm, but you may need to study up. Also, if you're rushing, don't. This has been slow-moving. We're in no hurry. If you need to take time to develop your character concept, please do so, alright? I don't like telling people no, but it's a no for now, for all of the reasons others have already stated.

@MiddleEarthRoze ok ok wait, I got it. Please bare with me.

I'm a spawn of Ungoliant, a pure spider that was given birth after she retreated to Nan Dungortheb on her last years. Though it was smaller than it's brethren, it was fast and had the capability to jump up to 40 times it's own body length. After the War of Wrath ended, my character diverted from the other spawns of Ungoliant and explored middle earth while killing as many orcs and goblin and anyone who served under Morgoth as he could. At year 1000 TA, my spider returned to Mirkwood to rejoin it's companions, children of Shelob and whatnot second hand filth. There it learned of the dark shadow, "the necromancer" who had taken residence in Dol Guldur. Going to verify it itself, it was met by a creeping shadow moving just out of sight. Going right into attack, it was not able to even touch him. As the ghosts and wraiths started to emerge, it swiftly made it's escape by jumping out of the ruins. As it now considered itself the ruler of the spiders of the forest, it just couldn't allow another power to contest its territory. It enlisted the help of the other spiders to attack the ruins but eventually they failed and more than a dozen spiders perished. News reached him ,at that time, of the wizards who had arrived in Middle-Earth. The following years he spent his days trying to figure out a way to beating the looming shadow. Eventually he settled on putting sentry spiders on the forest surrounding the ruins, effectively isolating it. Hundreds of years later Radagast arrived in Mirkwood where the wizard tried to make contact with the animals of that place. Not soon after he was approached by the spawn of Ungoliant. There it warned him of the dark shadow that resigned over the ruins while also proclaiming his hate for Morgoth and it's forces, both things were the truth. Doing this he also expressed his wish to help the wizards in order to defeat all the remnant forces of Morgoth that still resigned in Middle-Earth like parasitic worms. After that he stayed in service of the wizard for a couple more hundred years until the shadow inside the ruins was revealed to be Sauron. Still harboring resentment on the betrayal of Morgoth towards his mother, he attempted to convince the other spiders, the children of Shelob, to attack the shadow that resided within the ruins knowing that it was Sauron but none would follow. Enraged he left the forest, not before killing a few of the other spiders. A year later, in TA 2851, Radagast told him of the plan to dispatch multiple creatures in order to search the Gladden Fields. For this the wizard gave him the power of transformation. Specifically, now it could transform itself into a large 4 eyed raven. 350 cm wingspan and 179 cm length and the ability to fly at speeds up to 400 km/h. The transformation couldn't suppress the poison that formed on his body and was channeled through its pincers so now it was channeled through its talons.

OK, now is this good? Please...

This might sound rude, but the tone of this character is so far removed from the tone of this RP that I thought you were joking at first. This sort of character really doesn't fit at all.

Okay, everyone else, I'm going to start writing now. Finally. Sorry for the wait.

Finished the illustration for Lady Nesrine's sheet, might do some simple busts for the other two sometime in the future. Nesrine's sheet also has a bit of canon worldbuilding for Near Harad in the RPG, with Lucian's approval, in case anyone's wants some extra Middle Earth deets.

Lol, now that I look back at it, what have I been writing!?!?!? My initial trail of thought was to be a spider, then came the question of how* a creature of darkness would help the band of merry heroes so I decided to transform it into an raven.
Anyway, now that I'm well rested, I would like to roleplay as a simple Eagle. Be it an envoy from Radagast sent to help the band reach their destination safely by using my scouting abilities or even be one of the Great Eagles...in miniature...but that is more lore bending so I won't consider it. So, can I be an eagle?

@Bishop

envoy from Radagast

The Great Eagles don't serve Radagast; they act as servants and messengers of the Valar, more specifically, Manwe. And you have to wonder why Manwe would be bothered about such a small meeting to send his servants there. Their fate after the Third Age isn't stated, but as they were sent to Middle-Earth to keep an eye on the first of the Noldor that went back with Feanor, chances are good that the eagles left with the remainder of the Elves back to Aman. That decision of course, lies with the GM - but I don't know how well an Eagle can fit in. It can fly, scout, attack things, and save it's friends... as long as they're outside all of the time. Which I doubt our group will be.

I meant either a normal eagle, envoy* of Radagast OR** one of the miniature great eagles which is pretty far fetched and I admit kinda stupid. So basically, just an eagle, simple eagle. Maybe a half breed with a peregrine falchon. Or just a peregrine falchon with magically enhanced eyesight or some other properties, or just a simple one if you want. Let me play a bird...

Okay, dude, you need to reign it in with the animals. I don't get what your issue is here, but this isn't some generic high fantasy roleplay where you can play anything from a dragon to a magic talking rock. It's Lord of the Rings. You need to respect the lore and start suggesting something sensible, because you're just starting to annoy me at this point.

@MiddleEarthRoze I didn't mean to annoy you, my apologies. But whats so lore breaking about a simple bird companion? Hell, they are used all the time for communications and such among other things.

Honestly, just ditch the animal thing. It's not going to happen. Play a humanoid of which there are a myriad of options.

"Flapper flew at the command of his master because he was trained to recognize auditory commands. He landed. He was given a treat. It was nice."

How would you even play a regular bird? It's a fucking animal, dude. Birds are cool as shit, don't get me wrong, but they're not even human-level intelligence. How would you draw up several paragraphs that were worth reading? I'm pretty sure you're just fucking around at this point. The Great Eagle idea would have been potentially doable, though difficult. However, considering the source of the idea, definitely not. I really don't think you're serious about this. You strike me as someone taking the piss.

Other than the ancient bird race of ravens that helped the Dwarves in the Hobbit book, yeah it'd just be a bird. And even then, they wouldn't really help much in endeavors like this.

@Bishop I'd like to add that, upon looking through some more of your history on this site, I refuse to roleplay with you. You really are just a troll, or something close, and I'd like to think we're all done feeding.
