Biography: Some seventy years ago Karra Gemini, Carth's grandmother, made her presence on Pantora unwelcome after having been caught engaging in the slave trade. As Karra was the matriarch, her entire family was sentenced along with her. Their assets were seized and the family was sent into exile. Their family name was rescinded, and they were forced to remove the facial markings signifying their family. Years later, Karra - now known as Karra Anaro - had used off-world resources the Pantorans could not reach to rebuild and expand her business elsewhere, across several systems. As her influence grew, she inevitably caught the eye of the Empire. Soon enough, the corporation was being used as a puppet by the Empire. Meanwhile Karra tasked her son and sole heir, Doran, with doing what he could to preserve the family name and not see everything she built be handed over to the Sith.
Doran funneled his mothers resources into a new company called Gemini Communications, in honor of their heritage (and to spite the Pantorans). Using their wealth as well as his exceptional aptitute for technology, Doran expanded Gemini Communications thanks to cutting-edge technology developed by himself and his team of scientists and engineers. In order to retain control of the company, Doran made a deal with the Empire ensuring his ownership of the company, but allowing the Empire to dictate which entities Doran could deal with.
As the decades went by, Gemini Communications continued to grow. Due to the Empires militaristic outlook and unavoidable influence, the company slowly shifted to more security oriented services. Eventually it was rebranded accordingly - Gemini Security Solutions (GSS) - and its headquartes was moved to Coruscant (or the "Imperial Center"). By this time Doran had had three children; two sons and one daughter, Carth being his eldest. Doran had plans of his own based on Karra's old instructions, and only Carth was known as his child - Doran's other children were raised by old friends of the family far from the Empire's reach. Throughout the years Doran had established variout corporate outfits under a complicated umbrella structure with GSS at the top. The complex arrangement was purposeful - a dizzying trail of crumbs intended to strain the Empire's oversight and, by extension, its interest in GSS. It was an effort to make the GSS look less impressive than it was, and it worked. The Empire's control vained.
Enter Carth Anaro, or Carth Gemini as he had now, in his late twenties, started to call himself. Tasked by Doran to handle the intelligence department of the company, Carth spread the family corporation's influence across and beyond Coruscant, landing overt and covert deals in different sectors. Meanwhile, the aging Doran secured a deal with the Empire allowing the GSS as the only entity aside from the Empire itself to police Coruscant. A huge deal, that inadvertedly made sure the Empire's interest in the GSS was renewed.
The daughter companies continued to develop, the two by far largest of which where located outside of the Empire's reach - Gester Engineering & Photonics and GAXIS, operated by Carth's siblings Crale and Aria, both of which offered their services to independents as well as the rebels. Meanwhile back on Coruscant, Carth saw his influence rising even further as his father passed, leaving Carth as acting CEO of the GSS. His contact with associates of the Empire was frequent, and became even more so after the Galactic Civil War broke out.
The GSS was tasked with providing equipment as well as training for soldiers as the Empire's recruiting net was cast wider than ever. Carth himself was a sought after asset as an intelligence asset for the ISB, a role Carth grudgingly accepted - Carth's interest in politics had always been minimal, aside from a business perspective. For the sake of integrity, Carth cut off communications entirely with his seldom-seen siblings. After all, collaborating with the enemy was hardly a good way of going about things in war times.
As the war raged on, Carth used his acquired intelligence assets to help further the ISB's operations. It was, however, very much like walking a tightrope. On one hand, the Empire had always provided very good business for his family, yet on the other hand the Empire had always exerted a lot of control over anything and everything in its reach. Far too much for Carth's taste. The truth was that he wasn't entirely sure which side he wanted to win the war.
Accordingly, Carth has thought long and hard about which side he should
truly support - if indeed anyone. So far, he has opted to help the ISB with what is required of him, yet without helping the Empire's cause as much as he could have. With the New Republic's recent proclamation and victories, the Empire is now also facing the possibility of an overall defeat. As things stand, Carth is for the first time seriously considering turning on the Empire. What was best - guaranteed but restricted profits, or unpredictable but potentially unrivaled success?
Either way, Carth is prepared to do whatever it takes to retain his power as well as that of his family. He has recently adorned the old facial markings traditional of his family. Naturally, this is nothing that Pantoran authorities has approves of, but Carth cares very little of what a planet far, far away thinks of his actions. The markings are as much a part of his ancestry as his family name, and he has no intentions of letting go of either. His plans for the future include a return to Pantoran society and restitution for his family.
As for Carth's personal life, he has been married once in order to preserve the family name. His wife, a fellow exile Pantoran named Lazha, passed nearly a decade ago. Their progeny lives on in the form of two sons rumored to be force sensitive whom was sent away to Carth's siblings as toddlers.
