Anyone interested in a Group D&D campaign? New players welcome.

I went on vacation and lost my laptop charger. It killed the two RPs I was GMing. I have no intention of leaving for a very long while and wanted to get a D&D RP going before I left anyway. I figure before I post all of the world building stuff and how the rules are modified for RPing on a forum like this I'd see if anyone was interested in participating in such an RP as either a player or Co-GM (or even BOTH!!!). I work today from 1300-2100 EST but should still be able to check interest on my phone.

In case anyone is not aware, D&D stands for Dungeons and Dragons. I will not require that you have played before to participate in the RP as I love teaching new players and can do so through PM or e-mail. I have a PDF version of the Player's Handbook that I can send to anyone who is interested, the published copy can be expensive and is not required for play.

i would be interested, depending on...well a lot actually. im pretty big on creative freedom, and the previous editions of D&D i've played arent very conducive to that. I like rolling dice, but I'm not gonna spend an hour calculating math equations to figure out I slightly wounded a kobold. lol

I didn't place an interest check in tabletop because I don't plan on using dice for combat. It'll be modified to be dice rolling light. I'll explain more in my lunch in a little bit.

@Regitnui The setting aside from being a world of my creation that I'll provide more information on when I'm off work is a fantasy/medieval setting so swords and crossbows and such. Magic will play a part as always.

My intention for the startup quest is that a religious faction has advertised far and wide that they need adventurers to retrieve a lost artifact that is important to their religion. Your characters will answer this call as it is open to experienced and new adventurers alike. Mishaps and twists and turns await players from there. Depending on your character's backstory there may even be personalized "side quests" that the group can choose to explore.

I didn't want to focus too heavily on the dice rolling part but I do plan on using it for things like a charisma check if you're trying to convince the Goblin King to not execute you and your party. I don't plan on using it for combat because I want combat to be more fluid and story like. I hate it when I have a character who is an experienced fighter/warrior swing his sword with the potential to do 10 damage or something and because he rolls a critical fail trips over his own toe and impales himself on his own sword -_-

I plan on playing a dice rolling light version. Combat should still come across as difficult for players depending on the situation. You shouldn't have to roll a dice to figure out if you can successfully swat a fly. But auto-hitting major monsters or enemies would be frowned upon. Auto-hitting a rabbit you want to cook for dinner is totally cool.

And for players who don't want to do the dice rolling for character creation, I can do it for them and they can just assign their stats as they want after that. I want to use the D&D character sheets because they can help equal out and round out an adventuring party. Bob the human warrior might be able to break a lock open but Sarah the half-elf rogue might be able to quickly pick it.

@Game Makerin my Otherworlds story, i use a d20 only for things like perception, insight, charisma, etc. so i am all for your way of doing it.

Of course if this site is anything like the other site i was on, i will get warned for "advertising" in another thread... *rolls eyes*

so im on board, so far, but how exactly is the CS going to work? i like D&D character sheets, mostly, but i would prefer my race and class not be random.
