When did we discuss Digimon being kept secret? Far as I'm aware, everyone here was under the impression that Digimon wouldn't be able to be kept secret after the Tokyo event.

I was thinking of them being a secret in the way that Superheroes are a secret in Marvel, and ATLAS acting as S.H.I.E.L.D. They exist, most people accept that they exist, but there are always the non-believers.

Actually, in the beginning, the Fantastic Four was supposed to be secret, so were the X-men... And the Hulk... and most of the other Super Heroes. They started off with the Government trying to deny their existance.

Again, do you think it's smart for a Government to come out to their public and say. "So yeah... We just found out that any and all electronic devices contain monsters that can come out at any time and any place, some are small with big sharp claws, and some are the size of a skyscraper and have more teeth than the entire Osmand family... Good luck!" There would be mass hysteria, rioting in the streets as people accept the fact that they are boned and it's only a matter of time, instead, they create a safe little bubble of ignorance that the public can live in, blissfully unaware that, in the grand scheme of things, they are just Happy Meals on legs.

Dude, when Loki trashed NYC, EVERYONE knew. And you also had the Cap, who was famous enough for a Smithsonian exhibit. Hulk remained a secret because the big guy's dangerous, and people are dangerous to Banner. That one wasn't for everyone else's sanity - it was to prevent Banner from coming to harm and to ensure another rampage doesn't happen.

See, if they aren't doing millions of dollars worth of damage in a large public area, it's possible to enact a coverup. Here's actually a writing article on how to write a coverup that goes into the logistics of it all. But frankly, this version would be the equivalent of covering up Godzilla.

Yeah, that was at the beginning. Since the last ten years or so, they've really stopped trying. I mean, look at Civil War. That's exclusively about superheroes in the public eye.
