@Morose BAM! Incomes the sass from Sirena. Additionally, Edgard had a revelation. He finally figured out what is going on! Lol! Man, I turned him into more of an idiot than an evil mastermind. That is not what I had originally intended. Oh well. I'm not emotionally attached to Edgard. XD
Hey guys! :) I have a quick favor to ask of you all. As you've likely surmised, we aren't going to have a direct sequel to this RP. While we still have a lot more story left to cover, there is the question of which RP I'll be running next. The Seven Deadly Sins is a spiritual sequel to Abandoned Hope and Horrors of Coventry, so that one will happen once Coventry concludes. I also have some plans in the works for RPs inspired by Marvel Comics and Sword Art Online, but those won't be hosted after Strange New Waters in order to make sure they won't contradict events in X-Men: Darkness Rising (since that RP is only in its first arc of about five).
This leaves two potential RPs that could be hosted once Strange New Waters concludes. They're both about equal in the planning stages, though I've only written up the official OOC description for one so far. I'm curious to see which one intrigues you all more:
In a world similar to our own in many ways and entirely different in many more, there stands the Castle. Located in what is known as the Small Wet Country Across the Sea, the Castle's walls were constructed to keep the Darke of the forest at bay. Witches, werewolves, and other creatures had been preying on the Castle's inhabitants, stealing children in their beds and causing many tragedies. But with the construction of the moat and the One Way Bridge, the citizens could rest easy. They, and their Queen, were safe.
Hotep-Ra introduced Magyk to the Castle, creating marvelous sites such as Wizard Tower and Wizard Way, as well as teaching those with magykal talent to hone their skills. Magyk is much more than science that we do not yet understand; it can be studied, it can be harnessed, and it can be used. With the ExtraOrdinary Wizard leading the Ordinary Wizards, there was peace in the Castle and prosperity. Witches, werewolves, chimeras, and the like were kept at bay. Trade that came in from the Port brought unknown treasures, decorating the Long Walk of the Palace.
But in a world where Magyk is real and vibrant, the problems we face become only more complex. The eldest daughter of Queen Meliscente, Princess Valda, was CradleSnatched by witches when she was very young. And while Queen Meliscente had other children, it was only recently that her eldest child was rescued and returned to the castle, over a decade later. There was much celebrating that MidSummer Feast Day, as Valda became the Crown Princess, next in line for the throne. The Royal Family of the Castle, with the throne inherited by a matriarchal system, had long been loved by the people.
Or of course, so it seemed. Under a month ago, Queen Meliscente had fallen extraordinary ill, with no Physik or Magyk being able to revive her. She had been on a trip to the Lands of Long Nights, meeting with in order to discuss trade and relations before the Big Freeze set in. While her subjects were informed her death was caused by an unfortunate illness she caught on her trip, some believe that Darke Magyk killed the Queen. Among them is the ExtraOrdinary Wizard, Arya Rincewind.
But amongst this Darkenesse, life goes on. They grieve for the loss of their beloved queen, but Crown Princess Valda will become Queen soon enough. Her Journey, a rite of passage all Crown Princesses undergo once their mother has passed, has been completed. Witch Covens look on with apprehension at Valda's impending coronation, knowing that Valda's Coven will gain immense prestige with a Witch Queen on the throne. Young children still flock to Wizard Tower, little hopefuls just dying for ExtraOrdinary Wizard Arya to catch a glimpse of them and appoint them as her Apprentice. Alchemie slowly grows more and more influential in the castle, with now four Alchemists working in Alchemie Way. Scribes craft new, elaborate Live Maps that reflect the movement of each being within the Castle walls.
Yet make no mistake, my dears. Something wicked this way comes.
I haven't written out the official OOC description for this one, so it's not as detailed as for the above. The essential premise is that in our RP universe, the pagan deities and such are on the decline. Or so it was thought. While some of them, like the Norse goddess Hel, have been locked away, others escaped eons ago and are living in other dimensions, other realities, other worlds.
But while these are deities, there's always one theme in each mythology: they have (a lot of) children. Sometimes with other gods and goddesses, sometimes without another parent, sometimes with humans or even other species. These children have certain powers and gifts. In order to train the new generations of gods in our RP universe, academies are set up in different host planets. Every thousand years or so, the host planet changes, in order to be equal.
Our story begins with the academy being on Earth. After the Altsoba Massacre, the land in Altsoba is incredibly cheap and virtually uninhabited, so the academy is constructed there. Your characters are the offspring of various deities from just about any mythology you want. Minor deities can also be used - but for example, you wouldn't be able to use Zeus as your character - but original characters are preferred.
But of course, not every god out there is happy with the current state of affairs. The first born is preferred over the second born. The handsome and strong are preferred over the quick and intelligent. No one wants to play second fiddle. The young gods and goddesses at the academy end up trapped there, told by an unknown being that if they want to leave the academy, they need to get away with murder. Otherwise, they're stuck there for eternity. There's no way out of the school and no contact with the outside world.
Hey! We're getting close to the end of the first arc in X-Men!!!
Anyway, I've been wanting to do the Dark Magyke one ever since you mentioned it to me. Though the other one sounds cool too... My vote is still for Dark Magyke.
@Morose They both sound so great! I would be happy join either one, but of course, as you know, I love a good medieval fantasy story with strong female characters. ;)
So it's a tie, then. XD Well, both RPs will happen at some point. The only other information I can really give at this point would be the characters I'd have. In Darke Magyke, I'd be playing Arya Rincewind. In Victims of Altsoba, I'd be playing Runa Baldrdottir, Goddess of Secrecy and Falsehoods.
Update is going live now. We are going to be doing a timeskip in the near future. However, this is also a chance for everyone to bring in more characters, as I am opening up the Port Royal location
