You stand at the very edge of an ice-caked cliff, the whispy scent of crackling cold and brisk, harsh wind pilfering your senses as you look over the vast, unexplored valley. Rock formations bowl the enormous expanse, the rocky spires striking out from the white, frozen ground. earth-colored and hearty vines snake up the terrain to create ecosystems you had never seen before. You shutter, your thick hides barely able to resist the piercing cold that this valley hardheartedly enforces. Yet, there is incessant life. Beasts roam, kicking up the compacted ground with claws, hooves and talons of every different shape and size. They are ferocious, new, powerful and exciting to behold. They are your prize for braving this new world, a continent that has never yet been seen or stricken by outsiders.
Yet, here you are. You and your new team will strike this new ground.


Your camp's scouts have said that there is more to discover. That beasts and enviroments of all kinds have clawed their way into this new land. Steaming forests, Volcanic mountains, sweltering deserts; they are all inviting only the most worthy to become one in their ranks. You are sure you are worthy of such esteem.

Welcome, to the Monster Hunters; A Terrible New World OOC! The shifting of vast continents across the world has caused a fateful impact, the clashing of two landmasses that had once been polar opposites across the globe. You, found upon one these continents, have taken it upon yourself to explore a new, vast landscape amid seismic tremors and ferocious beasts to claim the trophies of monsters never seen before. You have assembled your team and charted the course, now all that is left to do is start your courageous journey.

This roleplay will be based on the Monster Hunter franchise, and will incorporate a few of the mechanics found in the actual game. You will play as a charismatic, newly trained monster hunter along with your fellow roleplayers. The RP will focus on group-tactics, survival, and of course; battling monsters! One of the key ideas in this roleplay is that the hunted monster's role will be passed among players, each individual being able to take on the role of a challenging, new beast. Whenever a hunt is completed, another person will take on the role of a monster they created, and another hunt will ensue in another, unique environment. If anybody feels as though they do not have the time or energy to create or play the monster when they are picked, No Problem! I will fill any roles that the other player's are reluctant to fill.

On the flip side, Hunters will be able to progress their characters not through leveling, but instead item creation. Whenever a monster is slain, materials with different and sometimes useful properties will be assigned to hunters. Then, they will create whatever weapons or items they desire for their character from such materials. From axes to potions, swords to armor, anything can be created and used in a hunting battle. Weapons and items will be subjected to GM approval before use, however.

In this roleplay, I would ask that communication and mature attitudes be emphasized. This will be almost like a group arena scenario. Thus, we must all understand the thoughts, concerns, and ideas of others so we may create a colorful and flavorful landscape of monsters and hunters together. Your input creates the great battles that will take place, so I want a group of leaders that will create a roleplaying experience that everyone enjoys. I'm looking forward to hunting monsters with you all!

Here's the rough draft for the custom weapon I had in mind. Let me know if there are any issues with balance or anything like that. I tried to make them a bit like Dual Blades, but whereas those weapons increase your mobility the higher you get the Archdemon gauge, with speed boosts and changing the roll to a dash, I wanted the Gauntlets to increase damage output and add a little versatility to how the player could attack the monster.

@Zeroth I really like the idea and the mechanics. Dual blades with impact, love it. Personally, I don't see too much of a balancing problem with it, but we'll test them out with your first monster encounter and see how the combo-mechanic performs.

Also, I give you great kudos for going into such great depth with your weaponry. It really helps me get a grasp of how your weapon would execute in combat, and is definitely going to spice up combat. I'm excited to see you go in guns-blazing with your gauntlets.

For future reference, though, I would ask that monsters be PMed to me so that the Hunters only have a chance to strategize against in the IC, where it will be revealed. They should only know the name of the monster beforehand.

However, I love the Yellow Javeryn concept so much. I have a monster already prepared for the first hunt, but if you would like to play the Javeryn in the second hunt, I'd be fine with filling you into that slot.

It's essentially a personality quirk about your character that augments and improves their abilities.

For example, if your hunter has a particularly short temper and fast disposition, you could have his attacks deal more damage. Or his attacks could have the ability to chain together into longer and faster combos. Think of it as your hunter's passive ability, based on their personality and fighting style.

You can look at my character, Tetsu Ken, for reference.

Fighting Style/Tactics: Throwing full force into everything is how Kaze fights. Every swing should be made to cripple a monster, every smash made to destroy it's life. Using the momentum of his heavy weapons to amplify the force of his own strength. While others keep a monsters attention he comes in from the side or behind to smash their legs into uselessness. Destroying the core of a monsters strength tends to be where he is, crushing their limbs. Or sometimes even assaulting the head from below with powerful uppercuts with his hammer to shut their mouths, denying them their breath attacks.

Useful Skills:
Kaze is particularly skilled at moving through whatever environment he's in. Snow, vines, mud, or shallow water doesn't slow him down. With the strength in his legs it's difficult to knock him on his ass as well once he plants himself. Given the strength in his legs he can lunge in and out of combat, moving several feet at a time. This allows him to be highly mobile when dodging in and out of a monsters attack pattern.

Kaze is also fairly skilled in tracking. He's tracked monsters through snow and mud, some of the more difficult terrains to go through. He's not perfect but he can give a general idea in direction if all they have to go by are footprints.

Personality Buff(s):
Kaze is naturally aware of his surroundings and wary of his foes. He's always moving around, keeping things in sight and shifting away from parts of his surroundings he deems dangerous. Given his wary nature he's always hovering on the flanks or behind a monster, waiting for a proper opening before moving in. This makes him rely heavily on other hunters to create openings or distractions for him to move in and capitalize on.When attacking from behind or from the flanks Kaze deals bonus damage to monsters.

Out of hunting he enjoys cooking quite a bit as well. He grew up in the north where food tended to be bland but nutritious. So he learned how to make good tasting food that was just as nutritious. During his travels he learned from the various Felyne chefs that had their little eateries in the villages. He's not a master but he does alright when he has the ingredients.

@Kazemitsu Kaze looks good. You got the Personality Buff nearly dead on, all I would add to it would be a sentence saying, "Kaze deals extra damage to a monster whenever he attacks it from one of its flanks", or something along those lines.

Also, would you mind adding a piece of artwork that depicts Kaze outside of armor?

Once you have both of those things, feel free to add him to the CS tab.
