[CHAR] Shattered Fates - A Dark Fantasy, Boss Battling Epic

This will be where characters will go eventually. After they receive their sheets.

As a short explanation of how the stat system will work:

Hider

The main point of this cut-and-dry rubric is to give players clarity, to get rid of the pesky question, 'is my character able to do this?' Let's just say everyone starts at 1 point in STR, DEX, and END, which equates to that of an average human. That means they can do everything you might expect from an average person, but no more. NOTE: However, that won't mean they won't be able to do things that are beyond their limits. By purposefully pushing yourself, you might be able to reach higher levels temporarily, but at the cost of a consequence. (determined by me, though we can always deliberate.) More on that later. As those numbers raise (or fall), it will affect their performance in respective fields, so players will be able to understand their limitations and thus, will be able to think of ways to work around them. It would allow for a clear sense of danger or threat, as no character will be strong in all areas. Hence, teamwork.

The traits are as follows:
STR = How much physical power you have. Also affects general speed.
END = This is how much you can exert yourself, push your own limits, and how much punishment your body can take. Dictates how long you can do something for a prolonged amount of time.
DEX = Your reaction speed, your athleticism, and precision. Important for performing extraordinary feats well.
SPI = Your affinity towards magic and all things supernatural. How well you control magic is linked to this stat, but how much you can output or sustain special abilities and spells is affected by END. Being as your body itself is the medium.

That said, all characters will start the story with all stats being 1/2, with the outlined power-level outlined in the list below. The exception to this is SPI, which will start at 0. Depending on your choice early on, these values will change. To keep things simple, each stat increase is quite significant. From just point 2, characters will already be encroaching superhuman levels. And it only goes up from there.

To answer any concerns you might have about power-creep, yes it will eventually happen, but I assure that won't be too quick or sudden. 'Essence', which can be used to raise these stats, is only earned after large victories and such and only in small quantities. Usually in just 1. The conversion ratio is also 1:1, for simplicity sake.

IMPORTANT: As an extension to this, adding the first point of Essence into SPI grants your character a unique ability they have access to. Their 'Expression', if you will. It will start off weak and difficult to use, but will grow and evolve as the stat increases. Usually they are unique and exclusive to the character, with no duplicates allowed in the party. As these are drawn from the nature of their very own 'Soul', which is unique to each and every person. More on this in the actual Roleplay.

Alternatively, instead of spending it on stats, you can use the Essence to unlock and empower any special abilities or powers your character might have attained, whether from an NPC or other method.

TLDR; These stats are a 'can I', or 'can't I', sort of system that is meant to push characters and encourage teamwork. There will be NO damage rolls, or luck involved, purely used as narrative tools. Leveling is made as simple as possible, with clear progression, so you can quickly go back and fight some more spooky monsters.

NPC/Follower List:

During your long and fantastical journey, you will come across remnants of this old world. Most of them, though the few there are, have been turned mad by the strange curse, ready to kill and butcher anything in sight. But some of them are just sane enough to communicate with. Fulfilling their wishes or doing strange favors, or simply just keeping them company, will often result in... something happening. Maybe they'll tell you the location of a strange artifact, provide some information to overcome an unforeseen threat in your path, even feel indebted enough to pledge themselves to your cause, offering special services and perks. They might just plain have nothing better to offer than their eternal gratitude.

In the end, what you do with them, is your own choice.

'Nera' - Ivory Goddess

Drew this little sketch, might clean up the lines and color it... might not. Mr. Procrastination wants me dead.

The first face the players have met upon waking in this universe, and from what they've learned, is the reason they are there in the first place. The last of the 'Gods', Nera has also explained herself to be the Goddess governing 'Dreams'. She seems an odd sort, sometimes displaying a loving nature in one moment, then flipping to a murderous side in another. What that power might mean, is a different matter. From what it seems though, she cares a great deal over her 'little ones' and will try her best to accommodate their worries, though not without a touch of firmness.

Name: Orpheus

Appearance: Orpheus is tall with a lean build, and broad shoulders. His arms and feet are scarred as well as large sections of his abdomen. He prefers to keep these covered. He has one deep blue eye and his left eye is white softly glowing, the white one having a tattooed rune meaning “light” under it. His hair is long and pure white and often left hanging around his head. He has a scar running from his left eye to the corner of his mouth.

Ezain has rejected some aspect of his past, and therefore has not fully returned to his corporeal form. His stature is unremarkable, though his sturdy physique betrays a life of hard, manual labor. His hands appear calloused and scarred. His body has the slight glow and transparency of a wisp and leaves faint afterimages as he moves. Were he completely human again, his hair would be an earthy brown and eyes hazel. His face is youthfully round, but hosts some weatherworn imperfections. What’s most distinctive about his appearance is a pair of straight, black horns that crown his head like an oryx.

Isabella

"....Even if I only remember my name and part of a stupid promise...I am me, and always shall be me no matter what happens nor what paths I take in life."

Appearance:
Standing at a fairly unassuming five foot eight, Isabella is tall if not entirely too physically impressive. She has bright, flame red colored hair that falls past her shoulders, with crimson eyes and slit, nearly serpent like pupils. One can easily make out two sharp fangs that extend from her canines, and she is often seen wearing a small smirk or smile. She is a fan of fancy, high-class seeming robes and clothings. Perhaps in her past life, she was someone of some importance. It seems black and golds are her favorite colors.

Personality:
Typically silent and not too talkative, Isabella seems to always regard those around her with some boredom, and perhaps a sense of superiority. While she is far from unfriendly if spoken too, she tends to speak very sarcastically and bluntly, often with scathing and biting remarks. She tends to prefer to be alone, and values her privacy and doesn't particularly like large crowds or meeting with others. She's not a bad team player mind you, she just likes to keep a professional distance from everyone for some reason.

She is a very curious person by nature, and loves learning about different subjects. Always craves knowledge, and how to use it and seeks to better herself through a number of subjects, and always willing to try new things. Even if said things are rather...not so nice in nature. Seems to not care for authority so much, nor does she seem to entirely trust Nera.

She is however, surprisingly clumsy at times.

Isabellas Blade

The blade was longer than most of the others, though not quite as thick looking. It was as tall as she was, and while she may not have been too tall it was still impressive. It was completely black, with a green gem of some sort embedded in the hilt. Eight, serpentine looking eyes laced themselves in the guard, still for now, but she could have sworn she saw them curiously moving about a few seconds ago. The guard was shaped like four spindly spider legs, four sharp points jutting out from the sword. Where the blade met the hilt, it seemed to mimic a serpents maw, four fangs meeting the blade on both sides of it.

Then the blade itself seemed to quiver. The blade shifting, quivering as if alive in some manner. The eerie blackness reminded her of some sort of insect carapace almost, but before she could ponder further the blackness shot out like some sort of black silky threads and latched onto her right arm, pulling itself into her hands.

The first thing she noticed was how heavy it seemed to actually be. Nothing she couldn't lift with some degree of difficulty, but it would take at least some manner of dexterity and physical strength to wield this thing with any modicum of skill. The next, was the fact the blade shifted once again in her hands. The blade wavering, rippling and making wave like motions along its blade as if it was excited, or perhaps waiting for something.

Ihosha

Appearance: When standing up straight, Ihosha is a staggering 6'1, but their perpetual slouch makes them look a couple of inches shorter. Their physique is simply average; not too thin, not too fat, nor trained enough for athletic to be apt.

Despite the plain burgundy robes Ihosha wears, their appearance is still rather distinctive. White hair and dark skin make for a striking contrast. Their red eyes glow from beneath their shadowed hood, as does the third eye on their forehead when it is opened albeit purple instead. Past that, good portions of Ihosha's body seem blackened from burns, but they don't impede movement or cause any pain. The majority of their left arm and from the right cheek down their neck are easy enough to see, but the robes otherwise hide the extent of the scarring.

Manifestation: A third eye has opened on Ihosha's forehead, granting it the ability to analyze objects and other creatures with a glance. Passively, it can discern if a creature is a threat and how dangerous it might be, or if objects are magical in nature. Activating its power causes some strain to Ihosha, but allows it to gain deeper insight into its target.

Appearance: Despite her insistence otherwise, Dwyn isn't exactly the most imposing young woman you'll ever encounter. Standing at a grand height of 5'2" (and a half, as she insists on pointing out), what muscle her training has granted still isn't quite able to make her intimidating. Or inspiring. Though it could be argued that it's a lot to do with her personality as well. When she isn't wearing some kind of armour, she'll normally be seen in a plain tunic and leggings with a sword at her waist, practical if somewhat boring fashion choices.

With mousy, light brown hair and matching eyes, along with a face that could best be described as 'pretty but forgettable', the marks on her arm are the only thing that keep Dwyn from being completely plain. The colour of them appears to shift on a fairly constant basis, almost as though there is some shifting light trapped beneath her skin. On their own, the marks would perhaps be beautiful, but attached to a person they could easily be called unnerving or downright creepy. Dwyn herself certainly seems to think so.

Appearance He is a handsome adult man looking about somewhere in his twenties. He's tall but not excessively tall. His caramel complexion, is contrasted by platinum locks of hair worn short. His current dress is rather plain consisting of an earth tone shirt with a dark blue overcoat with a dark colored pants and some sturdy boots made for adventuring.

PersonalityA combination of strong will with a bit of a fiery temperament makes him rather mercurial. At his worst he’s difficult to deal with as he can be rather rude with a bit of aloofness and arrogance mixed in. At a better state he’s pretty calm and personable.

Stigma: A large ruby gemstone that glows a different color depending on Ruby's mood. She can control how bright the color is.

Weapon: "Massacre". Ruby chose to remember her past, taking up a massive shield as her weapon. Her right arm has fused with the metal spine of the shield down to the bone, so that the top of the shield points toward wherever her hand is pointing. The shield is larger than she is, six feet tall and wide enough to fit herself and one other person behind it. The top of the shield as well as its outward face are covered in jagged spikes that jut out like small spearheads in all directions.

STIGMA: In the absence of light, a shimmering golden spear can be seen piercing through Div's back out his chest. His eyes seem to hold this same glow. In lit places, a dim glow can be seen where the wound rests.
