CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and so many others are going out of their way to cheerlead their party instead of just giving us an unbiased view, or a calm set of facts about what is going on in the world. Is it too much to ask tat I should be given facts?! No, I don't want to listen to noted "expert" and Putin apologist Stephen Cohen talk about how great the Kremlin is.

Just give me facts. Damn.

BBC, Al Jazeera, and the Associated Press are all good ones.

If you have to go American (though now that I'm thinking of it, AP is U.S.-based), CNN is the lesser of all the evils. A bit biased and a little inaccurate? Sure. But a helluva lot better than Fox or MSNBC.

AL Jazeera? You did not seriously say that effed up news source is unbiased? *eyeroll* Sorry, but EVERY news source is biased, I don't care where you go. You won't find one unbiased. And ESPECIALLY nothing from the frikkin middle-east where their leaders are a bunch of propoganda spreading anti-American haters!

Al Jazeera actually has a very solid reputation when it comes to reporting.

As for the Middle East disliking the US and a lot of nations having shitloads of anti-American sentiment, you kind of need to realize how the US' s actions look to a lot of the world, even going as far back as ousting the moderate Iranian government in favour of the current fundamentalist one back in the 1970s, I think it was.

Wow. I'm just quoting this to make it permanent on the internet.

The BBC is most definitely somewhat biased, though it's not as bad as the sensationalist, prejudiced, speculative crap I've seen on my (admittedly brief) forays into American news sources. Sky News is usually pretty reliable, I think, surprisingly enough.
I agree with the sentiment that every news source is biased though. It's impossible not to be. There are rarely any straight facts - it's all down to interpretation. I've just read a paper that re-evaluates every single statistic from another paper with the opposite view. They both drew completely separate conclusions by interpreting the data differently.

So in other words, we should go find the news ourselfs.

I'm the most unbiased news source around. Just ask me.

Oh, and Al Jazeera is not in any way a credible news source. It's a government owned body that's highly supportive of tenuous organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood. A partisan, government owned company does not a reliable news source make.

If you mixed it with one of the highly 'pro-American' news networks, the stories might meet somewhere in the middle. Extreme bias might council each other out.

That's the logic Fox News uses to counter-act allegations of partisanship. Everyone else is biased in one direction, so bias in the opposite direction would 'even things out'.

I wouldn't have pointed that out if not for the inevitable Fox News hate in a thread about press integrity. Personally, I'd rather watch a news source biased in support of the United States' Republican Party than the Arab World's Muslim Brotherhood.

Well I wouldn't give that as a valid reason for being biased but rather for trying to counteract bias from a reader's perspective.
