Quick Question: Which setting does this game take place in?

This is what I have thus far with Wildwalker Shaedra Galandoel. Before I commit to it, @Guardian Angel Haruki, I would like to know your opinion on it and the general notion of trying to use Animal Friendship, Animal Handling, and Speech of the Woods to recruit animal companions.

@rush99999 The setting is not one that already exists. This will be a world of my (and yours through your character backstories) own creation. It'll be similar to the Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity I am going to say that with those three, it will be possible, however I will treat it as though you are recruiting people and soldiers. Sometimes it'll be easy, sometimes it'll be difficult, depending on the creatures you are interacting with, their mood and disposition, what your character does, the Animal Handling checks you make, and how likely are they to keep helping you, because they're probably not going to be as loyal as a ranger's animal companion.

That was my intent, more or less followers, the sort who with the right motivation - namely food, care and attention - will stand to fight, but are not zealots; if it comes down to being too dangerous, I imagine they will probably withdraw. More or less animal diplomacy and persuasion, rather than command as with beast mastery. The only goal in this is not to have a revolving door of beasts, mostly to just keep the few hunting cats I can recruit as company, @Guardian Angel Haruki.

Nice work on the PC :D One thing I noticed though: Your character is a halfling, which is sized as Small. He's using a Heavy Crossbow, which is a Heavy weapon. In the PHB (or this page if you don't have one), there's a restriction on Heavy weapons:

Heavy
Small creatures have disadvantage on Attack rolls with heavy weapons. A heavy weapon’s size and bulk make it too large for a Small creature to use effectively.

I'm not sure you'll want to always have disadvantage on your attacks. A light crossbow or shortbow might be a better fit for the PC, unless you somehow have a way to negate the disadvantage consistently.
