Name: Trey B. Anders Age: 16 Role: Birthed Unit 05 Height: 5'10 Weight: Roughly 250 lbs. (With full augmentations)
Abilities/Augmentations -Density sensitive Nano Bots: Trey's nanobots are explicitly designed to shift in his body to create a dense layer of reinforced iron skin of varying scales of hardness. While this does make him essentially bulletproof, he still is susceptible to heavy artillery and the extra metal in his body makes him highly vulnerable to electricity. When active, his joints may become stiff and immobile. In order to move in this form, Trey has to make certain points in his body softer than the rest of his body so that they can bend and flex as he moves.
-Propulsion Rockets: To take advantage of his ability to turn his body harder than steel Trey has undergone modifications to implement propulsion tech into his forearms, legs, and feet to turn his inherent immobility and weight into an advantage. When activated, the openings in his elbows, legs, or soles of the feet ignite giving him a momentary boost. Using these rockets wisely, he can use the inertia to launch a punch with devastating power behind it.
However, this tech is not without it's drawbacks. He only has a certain amount of uses at any given time in each cylinder, one for each limb. If he gets excessively flashy or uses too much fuel in combat, he would only be comparable to an average person's speed and power. This limits Trey to how he goes about fighting, limiting the rockets to short bursts when attacking using them for mobility only in desperate circumstances. The extra hundred or so pounds the equipment puts on his body also prevents him from flying away when active, so he has to settle for running a bit faster than average.
-Grounding Stakes: Simple stakes that come out of his heals to keep him in place when in his hardened state. The main purpose is to keep him from moving when he's hit by something that would send him back even with his weight. Like a tank, or his own rockets at full power.
Appearance: Trey is a well built but lean boy with blonde shaggy hair. Typically he's seen wearing a large hoodie that covers his arms when not in a uniform. His eyes are blue and highlight his face which has a tendency to convey his emotions very clearly, lighting up when excited and gently relaxing in a melancholy fashion when sad. Typically he's always seen with a cheerful expression, unless something is on his mind. He prefers shorts over pants so that he doesn't tear through them when he uses his abilities on short notice.
Personality/Backstory: Overall Trey's story is the same as any Birthed member. He was born to the program and was raised within it. Historically, this never really seemed to bother him all that much as his personality seemed very inclusive from a young age. He sees many if not all of the other birthed as family to an extent, and embraces his role in the program as a protective unit. He doesn't lament that he was born into this lifestyle, and actually enjoys making the most of it telling himself he's helping a lot of people by being what he is.
When he was young, he suddenly underwent the operation to give him his extra augmentations. This made him very embarrassed of his arm's new appearances, with long lines on his arms leading to odd openings on his elbows. It was around this time he began to wear long sleeves to hide his new arms. He felt in some ways it was to make the other children more comfortable in their home, but at other times he felt is was so he didn't have to look at a reminder that he was ultimately not a normal person. It's not as though the others haven't seen them before, but it's remarkably uncommon for him to openly take off his jacket outside of the more intense days of summer when he's off practicing some kind of sport.
For the most part, Trey is a remarkably normal teenage boy in his personal time. He has a cheerful personality and enjoys talking to his fellow Birthed. He isn't above making sly or coy jokes at times, and teases his friends openly in good humor. He doesn't hate many people but will protect his close friends and teammates to the best of his ability if he feels it's necessary to. Even when angry he doesn't like to scowl or glare and instead will simply speak in a dry, straightforward tone. Most people that know him well would feel discomfort in a circumstance where he has an outburst, as it's nothing like him to do so even on rare occasions.
Extra Equipment: -Any standard issue weapon he carries as a last line of offense -A portable first aid kit -An MP3 player he "borrowed" from a close friend. (may edit further with more information on personal life the program allows)
-Trey in fact, keeps a diary as a hobby.
-His extra augmentations make him too heavy to swim, go figure.
-His favorite foods are apples and french fries.
-Blood type B+
-He is too shy to shower in a locker room, and is one of the few places he behaves introverted.
-Despite all of his abilities, his only naturally born ability is his enhanced density shifting ability.
-If he could have had any other natural ability, he expresses that he thinks manipulating the flow of electricity would have been cool.
-His favorite kind of music is Electronic pop, but he has no idea how to describe it to others.
Enhanced Nervous system This gives Kik lightning fast reflexes and the ability to multi-task in her own brain as well as serves as a broadcast and reception antenna.
Taser Touch This is a last-ditch defense as it expends a huge amount of electrical potential which means she loses contact with any devices under her control till she rebuilds the charge which can take from 5 minutes up to an hour.
Telepresense Kiki uses her nanite enhanced nervous system to interface with electronic devices, cyberware and the like. Counterparting The ability to communicate with and control computer-based hardware Familiar Kiki has the ability to create complex "programs" by thinking about them and running them subconsciously
Both of these give her the ability to Impart Instructions to those devices she uses them on
Talk to Me - Simply starting the communication with a device
Do Your Thing - Asked to perform its regular function
Do Me a Favor - Asked to perform an unusual function
Break Programming for Me - Asked to ignore previous instructions and do something very unusual
Forget Me - Asked to erase all record or memory of interacting with Kiki
Weaknesses: Kiki can never disconnect from the electronic world around her which means she can never truly devote her full attention to anyone.
Her body is highly specialized and requires she consume twice as much Potassium, B12, Calcium, or she experiences glitches such as random broadcast pulses and painful cramps. This effect takes place if she cannot consume her double dose every 72 hours and must return to her needed dose every day for 48 hours then daily
ROLE: Birthed Unit
PERSONALITY: Kiki is a sweet girl who sometimes seems distracted (She hears things like sensor sweeps and communications broadcasts) but is actually a good listener as she is able to multitask. A bit of a daredevil she loves the obstacle course runs she does every day and free climbing. She sometimes likes to toss out nonsequitur to see if people are paying attention. She is devoted to the project seeing it as the next stage of human evolution but isn’t a zealot believing it should be the choice of those participating. She loves her foster mom but feels pangs of loss and abandonment when reminded of her own mother’s act of guilt that lead to her death.
Kiki loves to dance and laugh with her friends and will go out of her way to cheer her friends up.
Kiki is always overloaded about subjects, her brain is nanolaced with superconductor wires 1 to 20 atoms thick which have built her brain into a system that rivals the biggest and best military, government, or corporate Servers. When people ask her questions she can't help but assign a portion of her mind to the subject which then conducts a search of its files, the local files and even the Net as it digs out every possible bit of data available. She will answer the question with the best data at the time but could say a week or month later just blurt out more data on the question out of the blue.
She can't control it because that part is linked to her subconscious
Then there is the fact that she hears music, commercials, talk radio, and all those other things that are broadcast through the air. She might just hum the tune she hears in the forefront or laugh at a joke she hears or just say "Bullshit!" out of the blue when she hears someone lie on a podcast
BACKGROUND: Kiki was born into the program as a planned experimental subject for the program to test nanite augmentation without surgery. This meant that she was a regular in the labs where she was almost monthly injected with a new strain of nanites each time which resulted in her sometimes needing to be hospitalized for several months as her body recovered. Her foster parent Amelia Moondance always worried that such painful and debilitating procedures might result in Kiki developing some form of mental problem so kept a close eye on her ready to react if there were any display of such afflictions. This worry on the part of her foster mom meant Kiki sometimes felt overprotected so she developed ways to ease the worry of the older woman which made her the type who is always concerned with how those around her are feeling.
Beatrix is a girl of two halfs. On the one hand she can be incredibly focussed and precise, especially when working on new equipment she's 'discovered', on the other she can be loud, rambunctious and excitable to an annoying degree. She has a habit of playing practical tricks on people, often through the use of her mechanical skills, but always knows where to draw the line ensure no-one even gets intentionally hurt by any of her pranks.
Appearance:
Most of what Beatrix wears is homemade, patched together from discarded industrial gear and salvaged pieces of tech, and none of it looks the same from one day to the next as pieces are added, replaced or 'upgraded' by newly discovered junk highly valuable items. Most of it doesn't quite fit right, but Trizie always argues that even if it doesn't look stylish, every piece is functional and useful. As long as she remembers what its function is.
Abilities/Weapons:
» Multitool - Trixie always carries her 'specialised crafting tool' with her into combat. Part pry bar, part weighted impact device, this tool helps her strip down and salvage any tech she finds. Okay, it's just a big hammer, but I'll let you be the one to tell her that. Along with this Trixie carries a collection of small devices which she's built, salvaged or bartered for, allowing her to carry out repairs and safely dismantle equipment for valuable components in the field. Failing that, she just hits things with her hammer until the bits she wants fall off.
» "If it ain't broke, it needs an upgrade!" - Forever tinkering with pieces of technology she's found, Trixie's never happier than when she's elbow deep inside a new machine, or preferably waist deep. Sometimes her devices help out her companions, other times... well, there was the incident with the storage shed. Or at least the crater that used to be the storage shed.
» Trixie's Lil' Helpers - Whether out of necessity or simple boredom Trixie is almost constantly building small mechanical automatons to assist in tasks. These range from small devices for making breakfast for her, to battle-ready combat drones designed to protect her and her friends in combat. While not capable of taking on enemies by themselves, these helpers can often provide a much needed distraction and can prove vital in tactical operations at times. At other times they just get in the way and go 'beep' at irregular intervals.
Background:
A child of The Village, Trizie was raised by her parents until their untimely death in a accident on site when she was a young teenager. With nowhere else to go, she was permitted to stay in The Village, and was placed under her own care, having proved to be level headed enough to not be too much trouble to those around her.
Trixie took this as permission to have free rein over the settlement, and soon got into the habit of working her way into every nook and cranny, investigating and studying anything she could lay her hands on. While at first the people in charge were a little worried about the young woman's behaviour, when they discovered that Trixie had also gotten into the habit of performing small acts of maintenance on any equipment she found not working properly she was soon accepted into the engineering team on a probationary basis.
With access to the toolshops and warehouses, Trixie began putting her skills to less constructive uses, experiementing with any leftover scraps of technology she could beg, barter or steal 'borrow', crafting some truly innovative devices, some of which became standard field equipment for teams leaving the village.
When the opportunity came for 'Mechanics' to join the Birthed programme Trixie was one of the first to volunteer, not only to help out her community in a more pro-active manner, but also to get a chance to explore the world outside, and obtain even more technology to play with constructively analyse.
Notes:
» In her spare time Trixie is working on building her own hover cycle, using similar technology as used in some of the Birthed, however due to the lack of supplies, and the fact that the higher-ups don't approve of the project, so far it's been slow work.
"I want to believe in the good in people, even considering our existence…"
Fiore Abla, of Italian fiore, "flower", and alba, "dawn", meaning "flower of the dawn".
Name: Fiore Alba
Age: 16 years old
Gender: Female
Role: Mechanic/Medic -- Fiore specializes in treating injuries, both physical or mental. Her contacts allow her to see a larger range of vital signs and help her immensely when her brain fails her.
Abilities:
Medical Proficiency -- Fiore has studied extensively in the medical field, reading entire bookshelves as a way of keeping herself busy while bedridden with sickness. Even as a young child, she was capable of treating cuts, broken bones, and even self-administered stiches on at least one occasion. Her natural skills are supplemented by her hardworking nature and hatred of suffering. By taking to the battlefield, she hopes to reach more people in need of treatment.
All-Seeing Eye -- Although Fiore is not the best with technology, her years of hard work paid off. Her specially made contacts give her a larger field of vision, as well as recognize injuries and help with medical procedures.
And How Does That Make You Feel? -- Mental health is also a big worry of Fiore's, especially with the kind of war the Birthed are expected to wage. Her open mind and calming voice can make for an impromptu psychiatrist session if need be, and she hopes to try and lessen the effects of PTSD and other mental diseases with new treatments. Her career of a psychologist is just beginning, though, and she still has much to learn.
Weaknesses:
Second-Rate Nanotech Skills -- Nanotech is half of what makes up the Birthed, but Fiore's knowledge of the technological is sadly lacking. She can hardly turn a wrench, let alone fine-tune somebody's innermost workings. She's going to need some help.
Small Body, Big Heart -- Fiore's tiny. She still needs help reaching the top shelf, and her childlike stature and face may alarm some people who were expecting an adult. And although her continued breaking of bones and toughening of skin may have built up some resistance, don't expect her to take hits like a Birthed would. She can be quite frail.
Appearance: 4'9, childlike build and features; Fiore was never strong or physically healthy, and her childhood was frequented by bouts of sickness and broken bones. It didn't help that she wanted to climb trees and run races with the other kids. The skin on her arms is especially marred by bruises, cuts, and scars, as she works without armguards or protection. Her fingers are deft and slender, as most of what she does requires precision, and her nails are cut short.
Straight black hair down to middle of back, amber eyes that shift color occasionally; her contacts are built to recognize signs of injury and she thought the sunset color scheme was pretty. She usually wears hand-me-down clothes from other neighbors, but she's been trying to develop more a battlefield-ready uniform for tougher situations. There's a large scar on her left foot, stretching from her big toe all the way to her pinky.
Personality: Fiore is deceptively childish and innocent; her mind is one of both astonishing cleverness and naivete. Although her giant library and aptitude for learning have sharpened her mind in some ways, she still holds onto the optimism and wonder that may grate on the nerves of the more seasoned warriors. Her greatest wish to give people peace and happiness, and dislikes the very notion of war. However, as the situation doesn't seem to have changed in the last ten years, Fiore accepts the role the Birthed have been bred for and hopes to join them in changing the world, for better or worse.
Background: Fiore has spent her life in the Village like many others, studying and playing and growing up in the perhaps unorthodox community of scientists and runaways. Her father, a civilian evicted from his previous residence, had taken up house in the Village and raised Fiore under the supervision and teaching of the researchers, who treated Fiore like a daughter and hoped for her to become a Mechanic when the time came. The Birthed were all good friends of Fiore, and she considers them as much of a family as her father is.
Her mother died when Fiore was very young, from injuries sustained from the long trek from the city to the Village. Fiore remembers her very little and only wishes she had known enough to save her back then. Her father is a hardworking man and worried about Fiore's weakness whenever she came down with something--Fiore is all he has left. Fiore returns the sentiment, though she always reminds him he has many friends here.
Appearance: Keeping to his military roots Victor is normally clean-shaven and his clothes pressed. He keeps his hair short with a high and tight hair style. Most of the time one will see him wearing BDU green trousers and a regular black or dark green t-shirt or black turtle-neck and combat boots. When training he wears non rip shorts and a t-shirt with running shoes. Normally he has a heavy-duty green parka he wears on cold or wet days, but has also been seen wearing a tan trench coat on occasion.
Abilities/Weapons: Type 4 Modular Armored Platform (or M.A.P. suit) — Victor is one of the few proud owners of a prototype Type 4 Modular Armored Platform. This protective customizable exosuit provides ample protection from bullets and explosives as well as a sealed breathing apparatus to allow for safe breathing conditions for up to an hour. Made for combat and search and rescue operations.
He uses this suit on both training and live combat missions with the Birthed. Ultimately it allows him to keep up and keep an eye on them. It also allows the ability to assume direct control when necessary. However, this suit is still in the prototype stage and does have the odd glitch. Just as well, the suit is constantly going through software updates to work out the glitches.
Wearable Shield Generator — This shield generator is used exclusively for training. The reason for this is it constantly requires power and must be plugged into a power source to function. This back pack is strapped on when he must engage the Birthed in combat training. The shield covers his entire body and is able to redirect and spread out the energy he may take from hits.
V.I. Assistant — Sara is Victors virtual assistant. She is able to help Victor in day to day tasks as well as run some non-essential programs in his exosuit. The V.I. also continuously scans the environment and the birthed to monitor their progress while training with him. Sara was given to him by one of the scientists after arriving at the camp to both assist his work and help with V.I. experiments.
Personality: Victor is a stern military man. Often coming off as cold or uncaring, his military background made sure of that. In reality, he does care but shows it differently than others. He understands he's working with children but will point out that he is not their parent. He is there to train them how to survive and get through the horrors of war.
Through all of this he is known to be a driven individual and tends to lead by example. In private, he is quiet. Preferring to listen rather than speak. He will always be one to point out constructive criticism and at times has been known to be a dick by finding out something that bothers another person and annoying them with it. however, this seems to just be how he humors himself and his dark sense of humor.
Background: Victors upbringings were not anything special. He had average grades and didn't excel at most anything academically. Other than his height and strong build he was otherwise average. Nothing spectacular took place during this time, didn't lose any friends or fall in love just getting by, day by day. It was only until after his schooling that he began to succeed just in the military.
The military forced him to be better, challenged him to be better. In time, he found himself working in an applied sciences' division. Helping train with and test experimental arms and armor. This path of employment eventually found him being tasked to a top secret program. His superiors wouldn't even go into detail on what it was until he accepted the job offer.
Upon accepting this new position he was given a brief summery on his job. Train some super soldiers with other instructors on how to fight and use advanced technology and weapon systems. He would also be testing out experimental technology while working with them. He did recognize the company he was being sent to work with. A now debunked group of scientists who went under when they began to talk about experimenting on humans.
Ultimately he accepted this position under threat of court marshal and imprisonment. Now he has found himself at this new camp or town with many strange people. Barley been there for a day but at least he picked up a handy virtual assistant to help him out with things around camp.
Stay Down, Okay?: Audra's bread and butter involves the use of her hands and feet, both of which come loaded for bear. There's not a whole lot of finesse to it, it's a matter of using her extensive martial arts training in a more offensive manner. A favorite of hers is an uppercut followed by a roundhouse kick, but her opener tends to involve jabs and a strong hook while using kicks to offset a fist combo or, more often, mobility. Her lack of weapon affinity with anything other than her own hands and feet means improvised weapons are next to useless in her hands.
I'm Not Weak, You Know.: It's not unheard of for Audra to take her flurry of strikes to the natural next level and implement takedown tackles or grapples. This takes much more strength and stamina - as well as 'gas' from her boots - so she tends to use it on smaller, easily incapacitated targets or when she's trying to end things quickly. Or when she's wanting to show off. Her favorite is a German suplex but a power bomb comes in handy when showing off the strength in small packages.
It's The Passion For My Friend!: In desperate situations or for the extra flourish, Audra can 'ignite' her limbs for an almost literal explosion of fury. She hasn't mastered the control of it - in theory she'd be able to use it to enhance her punches or kicks - but as it stands now it takes all she has to just use it once. It's desperate and it does more harm than good as it leaves her unable to continue fighting.
Full Throttle, Yeah!: Audra is strong on her own despite what her frame might lead some to believe. She's been trained in martial arts from a young age and her body, thanks to the Birthed program, has adapted well. But had she not gone through the procedure her strength would have started and ended with knowing the basics of things like judo. With the procedure, she's had her arms and legs modified. Her arms have vambraces attached and her legs have greaves, both of which need fuel for her to remain effective. The fuel to her augments are what allows her to throw, lift, punch, and kick well above her normal physical capabilities. Every punch, kick, dodge, when used takes fuel from her limbs. She has a tendency to not notice or concern herself with how much she has left.
Appearance: Audra doesn't look like an intimidating person at a glance and in truth she isn't trying to be but there's no denying that in the average height girl there is a certain strength of presence. While not a behemoth of muscle and definition, she does have definition and the build of someone who has devoted themselves to a regimen. Her hair was once a lustrous black but she has since dyed it and often changes it depending on the season. Her hair she makes sure to style in ways to keep out of her eyes otherwise they would just get in the way when it came to the important things in life. Namely fighting and protecting her friend.
Personality/Background: It comes as no surprise that Audra is a bit reckless and tends to be proactive rather than reactive, especially when it comes to matters of protecting those she cares for. In her mind, so long as she's protecting them with her fists then it doesn't matter what happens to her. She's a weapon after all and what are weapons for if not protecting those who can't do so themselves? That this belief is rather selfish is quite lost on her. Her heart is in the right place even if the rest of her isn't. Her willingness to put herself in harm's way stems from her youth.
Audra was born into the program but was almost considered a failure from the start. Her body was rejecting the procedures and her scores on aptitude and tests were lower than others in the program. Not everyone was a success, but Audra grew up around older sorts whispering about her which did a number for her developing self esteem. Audra decided to try and leave, since she was finding she had no place; being called a 'failure' was all the reason she needed to try and go elsewhere. She didn't get very far, making it to the Village and running into, almost literally, a sickly young girl named Fiore.
Audra didn't understand how someone like Fiore, who seemed to be in failing health, could still be happy and smiling. That fascinated Audra, who had only ever known being a disappointment and not having any sort of positive reinforcement. So she stayed and talked with Fiore. When Fiore spoke of her desire to climb trees, Audra offered to carry the girl on her back and climb the both of them up. When Fiore shared that she was studying medicine, Audra injured herself by falling out of trees or tripping down hills in order to get scratches and bruises for the girl to mend. And with this friendship, Audra returned to the lab with a new outlook.
Now she had something worth fighting for and applied herself with that in mind. Her aptitude tests increased in score and she put forth the request to try a different set of tests. She wanted to protect her friend's smile with her own two hands so the scientists indulged her as a bit of a 'final request' as they still considered her a failure. They gave an injection and bonded her arms and legs with their current equipment and the failure found herself a success.
Audra put her all into the program and its testing knowing that her friend was doing the same in her studies. Audra wouldn't let herself be a failure. Her friend gave her a new lease on life, and Audra was going to return the favor.
