Earth is dying, but only so many lives could be transported to a habitable Mars.
A late ship finally embarks on its journey, but discovers upon arrival that Mars is no more.
There is no going back, and no place to call home.

(In brief) Humans had advanced enough to redefine space travel and terraform Mars, but their actions negatively interfered with Earth's natural processes. The planet, now with an irreversibly toxic and unmanageable atmosphere, is destined for extinction.
When the planet's fate could no longer be denied, world leaders revealed controversial plans of evacuation to relocate less than 5% of the human race to Mars. The civil world was lost in uproar and became a sandy slum of sickness, famine, and violence.
Mars-bound ships, known collectively as The Ark, launched themselves into the stars. But one luxurious space liner known as the Endeavour Six (or the 'Oasis of the Stars') failed to fulfil its duty. The E-6 is rumoured to be among us and planning a second launch.

Our story begins in the patchy deserts of Canada. A concentration camp formed by a newly established military-power has just been ignited into an explosion of flames. The military-power, known as Novus Ordo, seeks to oppress those who reject their dominance over the land. Meanwhile, rumours of the E-6's presence on Earth are becoming increasingly widespread, and that a second launch may be imminent. The ship is thought by few to be located at a military airbase within a circle of mountains and dying forests, heavily guarded by soldiers known as ‘Defenders’.
(Note) The world wasn't quite sci-fi concept art but there had been significant scientific and technological developments. However, one of Earth's first noticeable changes was its strange development of rust, leading to the necessary development of specially protective metals for the likes of vehicles, weapons, and modern technological devices. Without around the clock maintenance, however, this unfathomable rust would disrupt most susceptible objects over time, even in the driest of regions despite its unlikelihood. So much of our creations suffered, including the millions of solar panels we had come to rely on. As far as weapons are concerned, many people still operate old weaponry despite its unreliability, as advanced weaponry with its superior protection against the elements is rare, sought after like new gold.

The story will be divided into chapters. We'll spend some time on Earth, maybe even opening with events that took place prior to the Novus Ordo explosion. We'll eventually discover the E-6, which I imagine will involve a large battle while the pilots panic for a launch. Our characters (or new characters, depending how you feel) will gain entry. As you are aware, our eventual approach to Mars will bring the terrifying realisation that our new home is in flames. Those who arrived previously are thought to be deceased. We'll cross those roads and what stories unfold when we get there.
Interest? I'll provide a basic character sheet soon. Characters are human, though I may make an exception to one or two AI based characters if they're good ones. There won't be any super-powered God-type stuff going on, but you'd be welcome to be creative with any gear and skill sets you might have, which we'll review together.
I'm looking for about 6 - 8 participants who can generally post at least once every two weeks. I may also need some help managing things but I'll let you know.
