Would anyone on here be interested in doing a Bleach style rp?
If so, I have some questions:
1. How large should the group be? Normally, I've noticed Bleach type rps tend to have a lot of people, but maybe that's why they don't last very long?
2. Where should our characters start? Most Bleach rps tend to have a lot of captains, but I was thinking it might be fun to start our characters off just as they join the bottom of a single squad and work their way up.

Hey, @jynmi88 I agree with the small group thing. Sometimes its best to establish a dedicated group before expanding an RP.

As for your latter suggestion, I've always been a fan of character development. So I'm down with starting from the bottom.

That's true. I hadn't thought about the fact that the rp could grow latter on.

Great! So I'll definitely start our characters off at the bottom.

Also, I think it would be best if there's no exception to the rules of members just playing as regular shinigami. Sure, later on we might add in vizards or other special members but for now everyone should start off with just the basics. Thoughts?

@jynmi88 Agreed. Starting the roleplayers off at the same level, with the same jobs, gives no excuse why one person should be better than the other besides skills or purposeful actions. Quincys, Fullbringers, Hollows, Vizards, all of that can be added later if you have enough requests or want to.

My question is this, will all the Rpers start off in the same squad? and if not how will we all be connected?

Have you read the Black Clover manga? recently strong members from the Magic Knight squads have been inducted into the Royal Knight squad. If we're gonna go the same-squad route we could go with that. Some elite Division specialized in handling Espadas and other high-tier dangers. However, since its a new development, it would make sense if young members had to train up from the bottom.

Yes, I was thinking that's what it would be. Maybe, we could have so that certain members of the soul society were selected because of their high level of potential and rapid growth and that would explain why members of the squad all level up so much quicker than regular shinigami?

@jynmi88 And the few that have the remarkable growth (if ever looking for some reason) could be the results of the Soul King's or to be even more vague, some metaphysical response to the appearance of the God-Tiered ones. Yhwach and his army, Ichigo and his friends, and the all around spike in power in The Soul Society.

Some kind of new breed or something like that.

Just a suggestion.

I could see that being the case, especially if this will take place sometime after the events of the ending of Bleach. However, I'm not too big of a fan of our characters being inherently more powerful that other shinigami. Personally, I've always thought the biggest issue with bleach was instead of the characters focusing on using their skills to defeat their enemies a lot of it came down to power tiers(when the exception of Kenpachi). I'd prefer some else like maybe their souls are special so their blades don't ever "complete" while residing in a zanpakuto, but instead are constantly, all be it very slowly, evolving new abilities or aspects?

Although that probably is a case for more problems.

@jynmi88 Something like adaptive Zanpakutos? I need more info on that, even if its not concrete. I'm curious now.

Well so far there are two possibilities I can think up. There's a third that I played around with awhile ago that was the empty hit stage but instead of a sword it came in the form of an invisible armor that acted like a symbiote from marvel comics, but that might be changing things too much.

1. The zanpakuto never fully mature. You know how once a bankai is mastered, and that's it, no more special techniques or new aspects? Well, with these new zanpakuto, that's not the case. Once the shikai is unlocked, it acts more like a devil fruit (One Piece) or quirk(My hero academia) which they constantly find or invent new uses for.

2. The zanpakuto's released forms reacts to damage, and battle situations, subtly changing after big encounters. Though, for this, I'm not sure how it would effect the bankai as they only become weaker upon receiving damage in that state. (except Mayuri's)

@jynmi88 While those seem like interesting things to experiment with. I think we should keep the staple Zanpakutos. Now that I really think about it, changing how Zanpakutos operate seems blasphemous.

Perhaps instead of having our "New Breed" of Shinigamis being naturally more powerful they are--like you mentioned--capable of more. Like perhaps they feel the flow of reiatsu easier or are capable of (for vague reasons) being capable of tapping into techniques like Blut (quincy) or Hierro (arrancar)

Hmmm. Yeah, I suppose that's probably best. The zanpakuto are the best parts of Bleach and it would be a shame to muck about with thme

Well another idea I had has to do with the geniuses of soul society like with Gin and Toshiro. So instead of the shinigami having more powers, they're just really fast learners, capable of mastering the various arts of shinigami in record time, and it could be explained by the R&D squad(12) discovering a way to cause those genes to appear more often in the general population. So perhaps they could manage, at some point, to learn abilities not commonly associated with shinigami?

@jynmi88 That sounds ideal. More than ideal really, perfect. Imagine if The Soul Society had had two or three more geniuses like Toshiro and even one like Gin.

Great! Glad to have your interest!
What do you think about the idea of each of our characters being geniuses, with genes that were induced via the R&D squad?

@Renny

So then, since our characters will be results of squad 12, should our group be connected with that division? Maybe, we'll be working closely with that squad until we're explained the truth, and then put in the special elite squad?

Also, how do you guys think soul society would've changed after the events at the end of Bleach?

@jynmi88 So how I see it we have Abarai Ichika and Kurosaki Kazui to consider. Now we can stay away from them completely but I get the feeling they'd be heavily involved with The Soul Society. I just reread the last chapter of Bleach and it looked like the Captains are the same, Aizen perhaps might be having a change of heart.

The question is how far in the future are we moving?

Hmmm. I kind of want it to be further in the future so that there are new captains, but all that designing might take too much time and I don't want to get bogged down with having to make too many characters. So for now I'm going to say we're starting with the division captains at the end of Bleach and will slowly replace them over time.

So I'd say that we'll start off maybe thirteen or fourteen years after the events of bleach so that the two children are old enough to learn about shinigami powers but won't be too strong. Would like to see them have story arcs that parallel those of our own characters.

@jynmi88 Dope. If we all can pull that off, it'd make for some interesting story arcs in the long run.

Great! Welcome on board.

That brings us up to four players.
Ideally I'd like five or six so I'll wait a bit more before writing up the ooc
