HokumPocus RATS WE'RE THE RATS WE ARE THE RATS

Member Seen 10 mos ago

For an immeasurable amount of time the region of Kasparc has been dominated by two opposing pokemon: Landkill the legendary pokemon of all that is vile and putrid in this world and Hycleane, a paragon of cleanliness with a lovely lemon aroma. This balance of nasty and nice was interrupted when the capitalistically greedy megacorporation of iPoke attempted to imprison and enslave Hycleane. Their plan was to use the beast to promote good hygiene to children around the world while making a quick buck along the way. And what happened to Hycleane? He fucking died.

The people of Kasparc were lied to as the iPoke public relations teams attempted to cover up Hycleane’s death and ignore the consequences of killing a legendary creature. The imbalance caused his antithesis, Landkill, to grow steadily in power and eventually wreak havoc on the local ecosystem, all while iPoke released fun Hycleane action figures and commercials about not licking playground equipment. It was then that life as we knew it ended. Landkill seized control of the main iPoke factory and began absorbing filth to the point where his body gave in and exploded in a mess of muck and glop, like a balloon filled with barbeque sauce, or your fat aunt at a birthday party.

Entire cities were wiped out in seconds, entire evolutionary lines were made extinct, and the land under our feet was rendered unusable. But life, as they say, finds a way. It has been one hundred and fifty years since the great Landkill land kill and the way of life of a typical Kasparc citizen has undergone severe modifications. Many pokemon have mutated into monstrous parodies of their former selves, unregistered in the international pokemon database and thus uncatchable, making proper pokemon a rare and precious resource. Looters, bandits, cultists and gangs have spread chaos and suffering throughout the loosely formed territories and cities that have been shakily established. Teenagers that manage to live past childhood without succumbing to the land’s severe toxicity are shoved out of their communities and into the wild to prove themselves. You are one of the candidates selected by your crappy territory to explore the land and maybe, just maybe make the world a better place. Are you up to the challenge?

Slopadelphia: Home sweet home!

♫ Slop Radio - Sunroof Diesel Blues

Welcome all to my very first roleplay. The nation of Kasparc is polluted and hazardous, completely devoid of common sense and chock full of crime and buffoonery. This roleplay will center on a group of youths from the humble town of Slopadelphia and the often dangerous and ridiculous situations they'll find themselves in.

Interesting that you post this because I had a kind of similar idea a day or two back, although that was more along the lines of all the humans disappearing and the Pokemon making their own society.

Anyway, a few questions:

1) How do trainers have Pokemon if there aren't a lot of them around? Do they just get lucky and find them or something?
2) Is this area separate from the rest of the world? Meaning, do places like Kanto and Hoenn exist, and if so are they in a post-apocalyptic state as well or are they functioning as well as ever?

Besides this, the idea I have so far is for a talking Pokemon of some kind, perhaps a mutant due to the environment. Would that be acceptable to RP as?

1) The wilderness is full of mutations and some..... colorful factions that make it tough to hunt and capture pokemon the normal way. An organization dedicated to improving Kasparc breeds pokemon and sends them out to allied territories, although the disaster wiped out most pokemon with elemental typings as well as three stage pokemon, since they require more sustenance to live. Trainers need a lot of luck to find a pokemon in the wild.

2) The rest of the world is fine. Foreign aid groups exist but are wary due to the extreme danger present in Kasparc, as well as territory leaders squabbling over power and never being consistent in whether they want outside help or not. Xenophobia is also a fun thing.

In the most polluted parts of Kasparc there is something close to what you're describing, but being a talking pokemon in a country that has fear, hatred and countless restrictions over pokemon would be no bueno

Interesting stuff, thanks.

I suppose no talking Pokemon makes sense, in a way - I just figured in a world where Pokemon are rarer, some people wouldn't say no to a Meowth or Detective Pikachu-like companion.

The roleplay concept is unique, I'll just have to think and see if I can think of a character idea for it.

I've never done a Pokémon role play before, but for some reason I have the urge to make a junkie-type kid for this. You know, the sort of dude who swears that smoking oregano can get you high, but isn't quite cool enough to know any actual drug dealers. Maybe he can find some Paras and try using/selling their mushrooms. :P

There is a city within the map that houses an absolutely disgusting black market with parasect licking stalls as a matter of fact... A character like that would fit in perfectly

@HokumPocus How many players do you reckon you'd want to make this thing a thing?

We have four players right now (five, if we count the GM). I'll talk to Hokum about how many players he wants.

I've looked over all the plot stuff again and four players should be alright. I'll still keep it open during the ooc stage tho 😜
