Interesting. I have never had this problem until now. I have always blocked cookies to free up space, and until now that has never been a issue; as soon as I allowed cookies it loaded perfectly fine. WTF
Thanks for the help.
That's cool!
So for a bit of trivia, a cookie is a file that will store data on a pc (eg: chosen languages, login sessions, clicked links, shopping carts, etc). They are designed to track all your information so when you return to a site your preferences are still the same. As cookie sizes can only be so much some sites will choose to use third party cookies that will store a user ID on your computer and store information on their servers with the cookie linking that unique ID to said information.
The Guild uses the former for how it operates and it helps limit the information that it needs to store on the server itself. It helps speed up loading times as your computer has cashed much of the information already and, in theory, the only information it needs to store server side is the posts and the last time you logged in. There's no need for a third party cookie as it's a simple site unlike Ebay or Amazon which has so much information it needs to remember.
While blocking cookies can help prevent issues like those pesky ads and sites gathering what you selected in searches, it can create the issue of where you will notice some sites where you always have to re-select preferences or will take longer to load because it's treating you like a new user every time.
