@Pezz570Question: Would being able to differentiate specific scents from a blob of them allow an Odos Augaision user to use different aspects of their magic without having to constantly swap and smell the different scents? Since it's regulated magic that only uses a scent as an activator, shouldn't just smelling it (with or without other scents) be enough?

That said, if the other scents are overwhelmingly stronger than the scent my character tries to focus on, that definitely wouldn't work. But, being able to pick out specific, different scents from a mass of them is a common thing, isn't it?

I'm mainly asking to ask whether I can just write "my character preps for battle by smearing all his scents on his mask and just picking them out when he needs them" or something. Is this too OP?

@Dusksong Just smelling it is fine. I like what you mentioned in your CS. No more than three at a time and you have to concentrate on those smells. (Concentrating on more than one smell is difficult enough).

I don't remember Odos Augaision as being very OP to begin with, but I guess it depends on how you write it. Healing is probably the most OP power out of all of them, though you have to put up with a horrible smell to use it, which is a fight in of itself.

In regards to discord, We actually have none at the moment. I've never really been big on social media and am vaguely familiar with Discord in general. However I'll be happy to start one if everyone would like to have one for the RP.

So for someone who isn't well-versed in the way of Discord my question to all of you is how does a Discord server help the RP? Also I know that Discord servers tend to have multiple sections for different topics. is there any kind of template that I can work off of when building this thing?

The fact that communication is "live" than posting here lets you plan or communicate things quickly is probably the most convenient thing along with being able to ping people and whatnot. Other than that I'm pretty agnostic on a discord. Like people like it and it has its uses but I don't find it nigh-essential to have.

As for a generic structure for a server, an on-topic and off-topic server are pretty all you need. I don't see the RP as being that big and complex that you'd need multiple sections dedicated to the rp. But, if you wanted to get fancier, you could do on-topic and a channel dedicated to planning in case you don't want stuff to get lost in chatter.

Discord channels only take a couple of clicks to make. The most common types of channels you see in discord groups founded by people in the same rp tend to be

-a general chat channel
-a channel about the roleplay, questions, lore etc.
-a channel dedicated to free rp, specified if canon or not

as for how it helps the rp I just find it easier to hop on and quickly say something as opposed to logging on to rpg, going to subscriptions and then typing an ooc post. Additionally if you've ever found yourself thinking "I wish there was more than one ooc tab for (insert reason)" then having a discord could help.

Super interested in this. Will get to reading more of this later since it's so late, but I would definitely love to throw in a Dwarven Rune priest I crafted on another forum and I believe would fit well here if that's okay.

@infernal so that's funny because we already have an abnormally tall character @fetzen. A short character beside him would make for some good times :p.

So at the moment, this isn't necessarily a high fantasy rp. so I'm not sure how I feel about a dwarf per se, but I'm open to the idea of adding dwarfs. (we would have to tweak the lore but not much).

The Divine Art of Rune Crafting

I honor Thundermar by using the very words he used to bring us into existence. These words, these runes, are the very building blocks of our existence.

Wendolyn has devoted much of her life to the practice of crafting runes. Through this, she has gained the ability to use these runes to help her fellow comrades in arms in their adventures. The runes are as follows:

Rune of Empowerment: Strengthens the durability and power of whatever she places it upon. Though it doesn't make it indestructible, it will be greatly enhanced.
Rune of Elemental Power: When applied onto a weapon, it obtains the power of either Fire, Frost or Lightning. When applied upon a piece of armor or accessory, it obtains the ability to defend the wearer from either Fire, Frost or Lightning.
Rune of Fortitude: Those who wield any item with this Rune will have increased physical Fortitude.
Rune of Willpower: Those who wield any item with this Rune will have increased mental Willpower.
Rune of Healing: Those who wield any item with this Rune will have a basic healing ability as per the limits of MP.
These runes will only last for a short while, and after fading must be reapplied to the item in order to make certain the effect continues. During her travels and adventures Wendolyn will learn new Runes and increase her faith in her God to further empower her craft.

So this would definitely need to be tweaked to some extent for this rp. though perhaps not much.

The biggest tweak would be to the magic system. I love the concept of applying different magics to different objects using runes. We just need to mold it to fit the sense based magic system of the rp.

I think we could fudge it to be a touch based magic. Like perhaps you have to touch and understand/speak to the material in order form a rune. Or the runes are complicated to make and you have to properly draw them with your finger without making mistakes (the connection here would be dexterity of the hand)

Additionally, it would need a fuel source, otherwise your fuel becomes your sanity (in other words you are one of the Crazed).

Another minor tweak would have to be your nation. Other than that, that's about it. We might need to discuss how dwarfs fit into the story though.

@infernal PM me your thoughts and tweaks and we will work things out from there. Also be sure to look over the CS template whenever you have the chance. I look forward to seeing what you have to say :)

Also you don't have to make it a touch magic system just because I suggested it. It can be another sense. Lastly your nation does not dictate the type of magic you have nor your ability as an adept, if your character is an adept that is.
