Personal Dossier
NameSakimoto Hiroki
Age15
OriginSaitama, Saitama Profecture
Physical DescriptionStanding 172 cm tall and weighing approx 81 kg, Hiroki's entire body is actually composed of multiple sheets of layered paper of equal mass, folding, rolling, and bending into a humanoid shape, giving him a perpetual white color. The paper sheets inter lays over each other in such a way that only close examination can determine the individual pages. Features that provide any more definition other than shaping his volume (I.E, his eyes, eyebrows, creases of his cloths) actually appear drawn in pencil and ink in multiple shades. Hiroki perfers to utilize some of his paper body to produce his own cloths. While these clothes never display any color other than what can be found on a gray scale of white to black, his ability to produce patterns of pencil or ink allow him to cosmetically accessorize his attire. Given the option of his paper clothes and regular ones, he prefers his paper ones, since he will be able to utilize his powers without being limited by the cloth. He particularly hates the jumpsuits for how restrictive they are.
CharacterizationBelieving himself more talented, more privileged, and just better than everyone else... Hiroki comes across as a bit of jerk and a bully. Arrogant to a fault, unflinchingly proud, he tries to keep an air of coolness and superiority. When it comes to heroing, he is dismissive on anyone he views as weaker than him, believing that either because of their quirk, or their personal skill, they should just give up on being a hero and just go home, to keep themselves from getting hurt. He is, as a rule, rude to everyone, being particularly blunt and attacking someone's personal failings, all for the sake of making himself more impressive at others expense. Against anyone that doesn't like the way he does things will either be ridiculed, laughed at, or challenged. He is more than happy to knock back down some upstart who thinks he or she deserves to play in the big leagues. He will never cross the line in these fights, attempting to humiliate his challengers rather than severely hurt them. If he ever gets a rival, Hiroki will constantly try to one up them and make sure they know it, unintentionally pushing them forward to keep up with him.
If forced to deal with others, or he finds himself actually engaged in some kind of mutual respect/ rivalry/ or general fondness, Hiroki can be surprisingly insightful and helpful, if generally unpleasant. In a group situation, he will try to take command of the group and plan out a way past the problem. He's not stupid, far from it, and he actually takes stock of what others are capable of. He doesn't leave people, nor does he want anyone to get hurt, but hes not sensitive about it either, preferring a stick over the carrot when it comes to reinforcement. Any plan that he implements almost invariably leaves him at the forefront of any fight and the main target for any villain. Onlookers will no doubt believe it's just him showing off, but his intentions are surprisingly selfless in these situations. When it comes to hero work, Hiroki does not mess around. While he seems prickly, arrogant and aloof outside of battle, he goes all in with protecting people, even to the detriment of his own safety. He'll protect someone before chasing down a dangerous villain, and while he'll blame the victim for not being strong enough that they needed saving in the first place, he can live with keeping someone alive.
Hiroki isn't completely heartless. If it seems like he's not going to get rid of someone, or if they have impressed him in some way, he will on occasion offer advice, aid, or even some companionship. While being a jerk, he's not a loner. Showing some appreciation for his art or feeding his ego is generally a very fast way to get on his good side. Only when it comes to hero work does he become quite abrasive, critical, and condescending. He is He's a bit softer on girls, commonly flirting if the situation allows for it.
Personal HistoryHero work was a family buisness in Saitama. Hiroki, his mom, dad, and little brother were all heroes working for the city.
Each one of them had their own individual quirks, all of them mutations in some way. His parents were hard on him, often times pushing him to the limits of what he was capable of, but that didn't mean they didn't love him. They were heroes for a long time, and they wanted to make sure their children were prepared for the dangers ahead. Hiroki, in his immaturity thought it was a little unfair how hard they were. When his little brother's quirk manifested as super strength, he was subjected to the same kind of training Hiroki was. His brother was more sensitive than he was and took to the training poorly. Thinking he was being a good older brother, Hiroki thought up ways for him to avoid the regimes, or get out of doing the work, protecting and letting him be happy as often as possible.
Then on a fateful day on the job, a destructive quirk manifested in town. The scared kid had lasers coming out of his eyes and couldn't shut them off. Hiroki's parents were on the job of trying to subdue the frightened kid while it was up to Hiroki and his brother to run damage control and protect as many civilians as they could. With the battle taking place in an apartment complex, there were alot of people to look after and the kid just kept shooting his laser. Hiroki was quickly overwhelmed with getting people to safety and at one point, a balcony was shot off. On it were an elderly couple whom were plummeting several stories to their deaths. Hiroki's brother dove to try to catch them. His strength should have allowed him to catch it easily, but he over estimated his strength and over compensated. Nearly a ton of brick and mortar struck the child atop his head, and though his arms caught balcony and saved the couple's lives,
The injury ended up proving eventually fatal. The death of their youngest child broke the family. Hiroki came to the realization that had he not tried to protect his brother, keeping him from getting better is what inevitably killed him. He blames himself to this day.
Following the tragedy his family separated but Hiroki didn't want to stop being a hero. While he became disillusioned, cynical, and generally bitter about life, he wanted to make sure no one else would get hurt, or need to get hurt the way his brother was. He wanted to be stronger, better, to save as many people as he possibly could, even if it was just convincing people to not put themselves into harms way in the first place. He took to the hero work with obsessive devotion, and applied to the Academy as soon as he was old enough to do so. The versatility of his quirk, plus his background in being a hero made him get through the acceptance process with minor effort.
Character Development & ConceptualizationHiroki is the typical foil to the main character. The one designed to challenge and test them as their first competition. He's the cool bully. The pompous jerk with a bit of talent. He's designed to be overcome, to stand as the hero's or heroes' first accomplishment so that they learn something about themselves, and Hiroki gets a taste of humble pie, something he needs. He's disillusioned about who should be a hero because he doesn't want anyone weak or unprepared getting hurt. He believes that if you don't put in your all, you shouldn't even try. The less people in the line of fire, the safer everyone is. He would put the whole world on his shoulders if he could. It's flawed reasoning.
Learning that he needs to nurture his companions as they need to teach him, he needs to learn to reconnect with people, to give in to accepting that while they might be hurt, and might even die, its not a reason to avoid making connections. While his goal presently is to be a hero so strong he doesn't need anyone else to keep everyone safe, maybe becoming a superstar idol in the process, my goal for Hiroki is to become a member of a super team, developing relationships that would last til the end of his heroing career. Why yes I do believe in the power of friendship.
On a power standpoint, Hiroki is capable of manipulating paper and his body for a number of feats. While he can layer paper which can become surprisingly tough, I want to eventually have his power be able to adjust the paper on a molecular level, turning the organic carbons of paper as hard as diamonds, and the titanium oxide treatments of paper to become titanium tools and edges. Eventually I want his powers to increase in limit and scope, perhaps going beyond paper, having ink and graphite fall under his purview. Perhaps being able to make and control constructs of ink and paper or being able to eat written words to obtain knowledge at a lightening fast rate. The anime read or die has some examples of ridiculous uses of paper mastery.
Abilities & Talents
Quirk TypeMutation
Quirk DescriptionHe calls his quirk Origami King. He has complete control over the paper of his body and any paper he comes into contact with. Regardless of kinds, any paper that is designed for the purposes of containing ink can become part of his body. He can use books, magazines, printer paper, etc in order to repair damage to himself, but that's just the most mundane of his abilities.
Each sheet of paper can float, fly, fold, layer, and shape themselves on his whim. This allows him to fly or even break apart and refold elsewhere. Doors mean nothing to him as he can just go under, he is resistant to blunt weapons, slashes, and bullets, grabbing him doesn't do anything, and he doesn't actually have any 'weakpoints' like eyes or throat as someone else would. His entire body can extend as far as a 10 meter sphree, with any paper separated beyond this range loses its properties of being under his control. When flying, his body looks like a mass of white birds or a tumble of paper sheets rolling through high winds seemingly at random. The paper can layer into armor, twist and fold into cutting edges, or bunch up into solid points that apply pressure in precision strikes. He can even use his body to envelope others, essentially applying a clinch all his own. Any strength is proportional to the amount of paper that is used. If all of his mass is used to a singular purpose, the effects is above human in potency. Room temperature except for extremes have no effect on him, likewise he could get nourishment from absorbing paper, but eating and drinking is still something he needs to do.
While he doesn't seem to have any eyes or ears, he can't perceive anything more than a normal person would. He believes he can use his paper to spy on people as a sheet of paper can act as his eyes and ears, but with the 10 meter sphere limit he can currently produce, its not as useful as he would like. He also needs to concentrate on that piece, ignoring everything else.
Being composed of paper, Hiroki is vulnerable to AOE attacks. Fire can be very deadly to him. Some paper types resist burning, but most of him isnt. Water can make his movements very weak and sluggish. In the rain, without an umbrella, he would need to use a significant portion of himself to keep the center mass dry. Wind also can be quite annoying as he needs free range of motion to control his paper, possibly being hampered more than a larger more solid object would. Any damage to his paper represents damage to his whole of his body. Some sheets represent minor scratches and brusing while a significant percentage loss represents a very serious injury.
Other Talents & AttributesHero Training growing up in a family of heroes, he actually has some experience under his belt. Rescue procedures, law enforcement, survival techniques, basic carpentry, first aid, tactical planning, but mostly his training dealt with how to fight and subdue criminals. He especially is skilled with using his paper to bind up and trip enemies, sometimes even baiting them into disadvantageous situations. More than one criminal would waste precious seconds trying to shoot him, even as the next step he took was on one of Hiroki's papers. The next thing he would know is that he had the rug literally pulled out from under him.
Artist Hiroki finds drawing to be something relaxing. He secretly would love to be a cartoonist or manga artist if he wasn't already dedicated to being a hero. His drawing skills are impeccable and he often uses his own drawings as the logos for the shirts he makes for himself or even temporary tattoos.
Diligent Student while he seems cool, calm, clever, and smart, Hiroki actually studies alot more than most people would suspect.
He acts like a delinquent but he does his homework, writes his reports, and studies for quizes and tests. He's above average in intelligence but his intellectual talents are strictly for how to deal with people and some street smarts.
Movie/Anime Buff if he gets some free time between school, training, etc, he loves movies. He commonly just would have a movie or anime streaming in the background of the room while he is studying simply for the white noise.
Origami he can fold anything out of paper. This goes without saying.
