[IC] Ascension: Monster Farm

Zephel eyed the little creature that floated about. It was not bug sized, in fact it looked like it could deliver a decent bite, but it was a simple thing. "Ah the Acquizari. It's a great starter capable of changing over time. But it all depends on what you feed it, and sometimes what you put it up against." He pet the simple hard shelled creature before it floated around it new owner. "You'll need more than one monster though. Three is an optimum number. If you can tame three monsters and control them simultaneously. Then you will be honored as a official monster tamer!" He produced a badge with a dragon symbol. It was a detailed small thing, but shined in the light with a diamond like complexity. "This one I have however is for being a master tamer. You'll likely get something nice though." He chuckled.

"I do hope this girl makes better choices in her future monsters. Bugs are disgusting." Aelithea atop her horse looked down at the girl named Jones. She was a bit older than her but it didn't matter, in terms of taming she was far below her. "I'll take my leave before anymore amateurs show up and try to take the good monsters for themselves. Toodles."
She began to trot off on her horse, her griffin drake and her gold slime following behind.

Bidzil woke up to the sound of something chirping at him and nuzzling his face. When he opened his eyes and looked over, all he could see was Nix's head looking leaning onto the bed and staring at him. She chirped once more at him and then hopped over to the window. It was daylight...probably even past noon. Bidzil's eyes widened as he shot out of bed. "Crap, oh crap, oh crap! I overslept! Nix! Why didn't you wake me sooner!?" He shouted as he hurriedly threw his gear and cloak on. She grumbled at him because she had in fact woke him up three times this morning just for him to roll over back to sleep. "C'mon, lets hope I didn't miss seeing him!"

They both rushed out the door of the inn, paying the tab for the small room on the way out. Bidzil had heard of Zaphel coming to this town, though he wasn't interested in taking a monster for his own. After all, for him, Nix was the only friend he felt he needed on his own journey. That aside however, he always wanted to see the wondrous creatures that he had, especially the lung dragon. When he looked up to the sky, he nearly stopped in his tracks. "Nix, would you look at that...its huge!" Nix trotted up next o him, craning her head to see it. A cooing sound was heard as she looked at it in wonder as well, head tilted to the side slightly. They saw the dragon descend and Bidzil's eyes seemed to glow with excitement. "It landed! lets go check it out!" Bidzil started running again to where Zaphel was, Nix easily keeping up with him although he was going full tilt.

Bidzil slowed down as they approached, taking in the sight of the large dragon for a moment before it flew off. He looked on at the dragon as it gracefully maneuvered in the air. "You think you will be that big one day?" Bidzil asked. Nix shook herself, the spines on the end of her tail rattling a bit as she did so. "Probably not," he said as he looked down to her and then crouched next to her, giving her head a scratch. "Want to meet the guy?" he asked her, and Nixes head bobbed up and down real quick.

Bidzil turned to where Zaphel was talking to the other children and handing them equipment to go on a journey of sorts apparently. Bidzil himself had come this way to find small bounties he could claim. He wanted to be able to prove himself to the Magoi that he was able to learn under them, so he figured the best way to do so was to take up bounties. While Zaphel was here though, he thought it would be nice to see a large dragon first hand.He didn't want to interrupt the man, so he waited outside of the crowd, watching with interest at all the different creatures that were being revealed. "Wow, there are so many I haven't seen before," he said in wonder. Nix on the other hand, saw a few every now and then and started to feel a bit on the hungry side, her eyes locking on to potential prey here and there, but knew better than to act on such whims.

”Jo-Jo... Jones, _Joey JO!” Pushing his way desperately through the crowd with great struggle and determination a young boy edged his way to the front, frantically searching the faces of everyone around as he screamed and shouted, hoping dearly to find who he was looking for. He didn’t care what was going on around him or why so many people had come here, he only cared that his sister might be here.

Then he spotted her across the room. Everything else fell away and he was swept up by such relief that tears filled his eyes and his breath got caught up in his throat.
He started racing towards her with all his speed! Then, a horse nearby suddenly moved and everything fell into chaos after that. Quickly as he tried to doge it, instead he crashed into an unsuspecting bystander then ricocheted off him and went tumbling and crashing into the large gold slime.
In his very un-graceful decent, a small glowing golden blob flew out from his tattered haversack along with an injured bugfairy baring a broken wing. They scattered across the dirt floor to fall before Aelithea atop her horse

Zephel sighed at Aelithea. Though she was yet to be a certified tamer she carried on as if she were. He waved her off and turned to the newcomer entering his little assortment, which looked like it could be in a bazaar. "Oh? That creature you have there." Zephel leaned in close to Nix. Watching it with studious eyes. "This is a rare one indeed. Doesn't seem inhibited by its wild instinct." He looked deep into Nix's eyes, as if he were looking into the creatures soul. "I see." He stood up straight and smiled at Bidzil. "How did you acquire such a.. never mind. In fact it is best I see for myself who you are. Perhaps you have what it takes to be a master tamer one day." He turned to the orbs. "If that interests you that is... If so, choose from among these a monster and it will be your loyal companion." He looked at Nix again from a standing position and the side of his eye, but only briefly. "You need to learn to harmonize your monsters, be it dragon, insect, or ghoul." He smirked beneath his covering. "Not always an easy task however...'

"Why you!" Aelithea was clearly a bit furious at the sight of what appeared to her to be someone throwing a small slime at her. She growled at the boy who was now slowly being sucked into her slime. "How dare you! I-" Her rant was paused by the buzzing of the bugfairy. She despised the buzzing sound and her Griffin Drake took a midair flight to observe the two small creatures before its master. "Gold slime! Spit the boy out." It did as commanded. A bit of its bodies oils remained on the boy with a glistening gold glow. "You boys are so sad!" She looked closer to the bugfairy and saw it was injured by the way it held itself. "You don't know how to heal with your own slime?" She scoffed.

Zephel heard the boy yell from not too far off and land into Aelithea's party. It was a strange sight but partially comical so he chuckled a bit. Assuming all was well.

Jones looked confused then shocked when she heard her name be called out in tears, it couldn't be she thought. She turned around to see her younger brother rushing towards her, tears filled his eyes. It tightened her hearts in knots to see him like that. "Hurrah?" Hurrah!" Jones shouted, "I thought I left you-" her words were cut off as he ricocheted off a bystander, and fell into a golden slime, her mouth went dry. The Acquizari floated besides her with a buzz as it beat its wings to stay afloat.

She rushed to her brother as he was ejected out of the slime, "are you alright?" She asked him, "does anything hurt?"

Bidzil smiled as Zaphel headed his way, he was actually coming to him to talk! Though, he seemed more interested with Nix than he did with Bidzil, even coming eye to eye with her. She stayed seated and was mosttly calm, though she did knead at the dirt a bit. She made a low chirping noise at him after a bit, starting to feel a bit uncomfortable about him staring so long. Bidzil then introduced themselves. "My name is Bidzil, nice to meet you! This here is Nix." He then listened to Zaphel's proposal. "A master tamer? I-I don't know about that," he said sheepishly, "I'm trying to become a student with the Magoi." Though, that being said, he couldn't help but gaze at wonder again at all the creatures that were lined up.

Just then there was a small surge of magic as something transfromed next to Bidzil. There was now girl, looking a few years younger than Bidzil, with clothes that seemed to bear a likeness to the small dragon that was there but just a moment ago. It was Nix, changing her form so that she may talk as she hasn't learned the magic necessary to talk while in dragon form. "Bidzil! I have an idea!" she said now pulling on his cloak. "If you are a master tamer, the Magoi would have to recognize you and let you in! And it should be fun!" she said nearly jumping with excitement.

Bidzil turned to her in surprise, but not at the transformation. "What!? You really think so!? That would be amazing!" He turned to Zaphel, "Alright then, I'll do it! I'll try my best to become a master tamer!" Now both of them were stoked for the journey ahead, and Nix was almost as excited at seeing what other creatures he had as Bidzil. In her mind, it felt like the equivalent to going to the pet store, though Bidzil knew it was much more than that. But this gave Bidzil the excitement her craved for his adventure to join the Magoi. An actual goal to accomplish other than finding little bounties here and there! What a chance of a lifetime!

Hurrah’s eyes were wide with shock and he held a dumbfounded expression as he was ejected from the ooze, but as the confusion of the situation settled his mouth erupted into a bright wide smile as he threw himself at his bigger sister, wrapping his goo covered arms around her and sharing his residue slime as he giggled with joy and squeezed her tightly.
”Im alright Jo-jo, _{as long as you don’t leave me again.}” He squeezed her extra tight to ensure she wasn’t going anywhere.

Suddenly remembering his friends he dashed out before the horse and cradled them up in his arms. He snapped back at Aelithea defensively.
”She can too! He’s just little and still learning.” Pouting, he poked his tongue out at her before turning his back and excitedly going back to his sister, friends in arms, mood flipped as he introduced them.

Jones heart melted in her chest as her brother hugged her tightly, she wouldn't trade this for anything in the world she thought. The Acquizari continued to buzz around her, it was far too timid to do anything else at the time being. Jones looked at the monsters Hurrah carried over to her, "they're very cute," she said as he introduced them to her, she then frowned at the state of one of his monsters, "this one looks hurt," Jones pointed at the bug fairy, "its wing is broken, it won't ever fly again." Jones stated bluntly but in a gentle tone to Hurrah.

”He will.” Hurrah exclaimed gently lifting the bug fairy up in his palm and inspecting it closer. Smiling at the little needle swords in its hands. The tiny monster posed as fiercely as he could, trying to look as intimidating as possible as it nervously looked around. ”Jay jay is tough, he’s a fighter.” Says Hurrah excitedly. ”Besides, Honey is slowly getting better at healing. I think so anyway.”
With that he carefully tucks the bugfairy back into his pouch and picks up the the golden slime with both hands.
It was peculiarly small even for a baby slime.

It was then he finally noticed Acquizari buzzing around and his attention jumped to that. ”Is that Yours?” he asks, eyes wide in curious awe. ”Is that what you got for coming here?”

As the two were talking a light shined over Hurrah. He and his monsters were briefly engulfed in a healing light produced from a rune above them. "I don't mind using my new monster's ability on the help. Besides it will only grow stronger for doing so." Aelithea was smiling with a soul shard in her hand. She tossed it to her slime and it landed on its surface. The light within it fading before the shard was spit out a few feet away. The moving structures inside the slime moving more rapidly as if it had been given a jolt of energy. "Toodles losers!" She began to ride off on her horse giving a single wave before disappearing into the town.

Zephel stepped back as Nix transformed before him. He kept his surprise to himself, though his face was visibly so. "So true bloods do still exist..." He said to himself aloud. "Bidzil and Nix!" He began. "Joining the Magoi and studying under their vast knowledge of magic is one thing. But to become a master tamer is a whole other level of accomplishment." He crossed his arms and closed his eyes in thought. "This will be a test of who you are as a person. Magic is a tool and monsters when used correctly can produce magic stronger than you've ever seen. They are all deeply rooted to this world as so should we. If you succeed in that then you can become whatever you desire. I assure you." He looked to Bidzil and Nix and could tell they were connected.

Nix's ear twitched towards Zephel when he mentioned something about 'true bloods' when looking towards her. Her enhanced hearing caught the comment while Bidzil did not, though she didn't know what he meant and simply tilted her head slightly, looking at the man with a slightly curious look that faded away when he continued talking. The two huddled together, listening intently to Zephel's every word with stars in their eyes. When he finished they looked at each other with big smiles. "See! Even he says so!" Nix said, referring to Bidzil being able to become whatever he wanted. "What would Mama say if you came back and told her you were a master tamer and able to join the Magoi?"

"I bet she will be so happy! This is perfect!" Bidzil agreed as Nix made a cat-like chirping sound in excitement, even in her descendant form. Bidzil looked up to the man once more. "What do I have to do to become a master tamer?" he honestly asked, unsure of what to do now that he accepted the task.

"You must first become a official tamer. One worthy of the title of tamer. The first requirement of being a tamer is showing the ability to control three monsters at once in an organized manner. One which will guarantee you the owner a safer passage through the wilds." He pointed to the orbs he had sitting about. "You already have one monster, I'm here to give you your second. Please choose from the assortment I have collected."

"Yes." She said, The Acquizari buzzed around her head in short lazy circles, the monster even with its limited intelligence hadn't an inkling of what to do. "It didn't look too harmful, I think it's called and Acquizari" her eyes followed it a bit before she shooed it away with a single hand, The Acquizari buzzed, but continued it's trek around her head,"and so far it's pretty harmless. However, it's pretty annoying right now." Jones admitted grumpily.

A warm light engulfed Hurrah and his monsters. Initially, Jones was worried, she turned her head up to see a woman riding off in the sky. However nothing seemed out of the ordinary, expect... "Hurrah, I think somethings happened to your monster." She commented.

Hurruh was taken back by the sudden light that had engulfed him, but as strange and unexpected as it was, he felt no fear of the soft golden glow washing over his skin. He felt warm and at ease. He looked around with a curious awe. No sooner that the glow had ceased, there was a ruffling in his rucksack. The flap suddenly shot open! The bug fairy zoomed off into the air in a blurr, it’s tiny wings buzzing ever so fast.

Hurrah gasped and then with a great big smile and enthusiasm he chased after Jay Jay for a few steps, waving and shouting his goodbyes. The big fairy didn’t slow. In no time it was lost from sight. This didn’t seem to dishearten young Hurruh, who still smiled as he walked back to his sister, cherishing the memories he had made with that small monster with pride.

”Now you got your monster can we go back hoooome?.” Hirruh asks Jones, tugging on her sleeve. Suddenly appearing very tired.
Meanwhile a reguvinated Honey had made its way over to the used and discarded soul stone and absorbed in into its mass.

Bidzil looked to the orbs, each holding a different creature. He turned towards Nix, Alright, I'll pick one, and you can pick the other." They both nodded to each other at the same time before turning to the orbs. Though he did look through all of them, amazed at the variety, he came to a decision. He turned to Nix. [color=66CDAA]"Do you want to pick?" he asked her.

Nix's eyes widened as she hopped with excitment, "Oh, I do, I do!" She ran up to the orbs and sat there for what seemed to be two or three minutes before finally deciding. She picked what she believed to be the prettiest one out of the bunch. When she turned she had a big smile, showing a bit of her sharp teeth, pointing to it. "I think I like this one! Pick this one, Bidzil!"

Bidzil Smiled and walked up to it, gently picking up the orb. The orb reacted nearly instananeuosly at his touch. Water started to flow from it as it started levitate in the air. Soon It released the monster heald within. Water in the form of a woman, it was a water spriggan! "W-wow!" was the only way Bidzil could respond.

"Oooooo! Look Bidzil! She really IS pretty!" Nix said, fascinated by the spriggan.

"A...e...y-yeah uh...Nix...I can uh,... see that..very pretty indeed," Bidzil replied, a bit red faced.

"Very good choice!" Said Zephel. He looked behind him seeing Jones and her brother. "That boy already has a few cute monsters. Maybe he has potential too." He waved to the two. "Heeeyyy! Over here." He aimed to wave them over and gain their attention. "Lets do a bit of training. Jones your new monster against Bidzil's. Should be fun. I promise to heal you when you're done."

As much as Jones wanted to say yes to her brother, and leave this place now, that was not the answer that she chose. "I'm not sure." She admitted to Hurrah, "the man who started this place talked a lot about how important having a monster was."

The Acquizari buzzed around, occasionally it lightly bumped into her head before buzzing off again to complete another lap. Jones wondered if the bug thing was just defective, it did nothing impressive, and it didn't have any brains too. "I also think that despite what he says, he wants something from us. It makes no sense otherwise, why go through all of this with absolutely nothing in return? Doesn't have to be gold, could be anything."

”Fine.” Hurrah sighed, slumping his shoulders and showing his displeasure. ”Well can I have one too then?.” He asks, his voice perking back up and now more chirpier in hopes it helped him get his way.

He quietly began to muse over the many exciting and wonderous orbs along the wall.

”What’s that one?”
He asks aloud pointing to one nearby. ”Ooh wow! How about?” He interrupted before an answer could be given. This went on for some time. His excitement growing with every new interest.

"Careful! Nothing too dangerous!" Jones cautioned to her little brother, not too quietly too, as she had cupped her hands together and shouted it to him as he had entered the store. She then wondered if she should enter the store, and personally hand pick one of the monsters for Hurrah, but that might be going too far she thought.

Zephel sighed at the boy's constant questions. He seemed to lack focus. "Hmm but your monsters seem to trust you so I trust that you'll be good to them." He let the boy choose one last one. Then yelled. "Stop." He grabbed the orb of the last monster he asked about. "This will keep you safe." He gifted the orb to the boy. "It's an Armis. It's very good at protection. Though this one is a bit weaker than the one taken earlier."

"Now." He looked to Bidzil, then to Jones. "These are the rules of a traditional monster battle. You two come with me." He walked out to the field a bit away from where the orbs and other items he had were held. He walked in a straight line with his arms crossed behind his back. He paused several meters away. "I want you both to use your new monsters." He motioned for them to line up, a dozen meters away from each other, with their monsters standing before them. "This will let you know what your monster can and cannot do. You can command your monster in various ways. These monsters you have understand what it means to 'attack' or 'defend'. In most situations they will try their best if trained correctly to defeat an enemy. But your directions matter most, the longer you direct a monster in a certain way the more oriented it will become. For example a healing monster that you command to heal and never attack will not suddenly become able to attack effectively on its own or even with your command. So the way your monster battles over time will change their personalities. Versatile monsters are the most intelligent so try to give commands they understand but try to make it more complex as you progress."
