[OOC] Fate/Darkened Moon

The year is 2015 the next holy grail war was about to start once more with the church, and mage association preparing to take on new masters, and heroic spirits they were naively blinded by the fact that there were still people out there who were willing to exploit the grail. Many years have past since the Fuyuki Grail War, and with the loss of the greater grail more smaller grail wars had been propping up all over. A small faction in Poland known as the Grey Family have summoned several servants in violation of the Grail War's rules. It's intent is unknown but the Grey Family were known as mage supremacists, and it is speculated they wish to use the servants, and the grail in order to win over the world to their way of thinking. They have held fast in a castle forming battle strategies as the mage association prepares itself to deal with the threat.

Scouts sent to deal with threat were met with swift brutal retaliation and as such the only way to deal with this threat is to summon more servants to combat the 'Red' Faction. Met with fierce resistance initially the mages association has finally come to a conclusion that the threat in question must be dealt with. As such they had sent calls to several different magi be it allies of the Association, or mercenaries. The church has also proclaimed it's support for the Mage Associations 'Black' Faction as the brutality of Red has proven both disgusting, and an insult to the rules of the grail war. Hoping to wipe out the enemy faction the mages are gathering in London to summon their servants. The clocktower seeks to assist the mages in their attempts at destroying Red Faction before they arrive in Poland in order to defeat enemy summoners. Ruler has said to have already arrived in Poland to await what is to happen. Today the mages that have agreed to assist the Church, and the Mage Association have gathered today in the Clocktower to begin the operation to take down the family Grey.

Rules:
1. All Standard Roleplay Rules Apply. Power Playing, God Modding, and other assorted non-sense is not allowed.
2. No over powered servants. Demi-Gods, and servants such as Gilgamesh, Beserker Hercules, and folks of that nature are not allowed. I can't have unkillable servants that make everyone else pale in comparison. Ask before you pick a servant, and I'll help you with them if need be.
3. I must approve of your characters personally before allowing them into the roleplay. Characters not approved do not get noticed in the IC. Post characters in the OOC before approval.
4. PVP is allowed however BOTH parties must agree to the battle. However we're on the same team I'm not sure why'd you want to maim each other.
5. Everyone starts with three command seals.
6. 2-3 Noble Phantasm limit on Servants whom are not canon. This is to prevent power playing, and shenanigans. I may be considerate of three if the servant warrants it. Remember in the show at least the noble phantasm is suppose to be a defining aspect of the legend of the servant.
7. I reserve the right as gm to reject characters for any basis. Be it for personal conduct, or roleplay reasons.

As for the Servant, since there are no dragons allowed I'll probably use someone from canon. There are a lot of cool options, so I'm not worried about class so much.

You can do that as a mage Executioners, and mage hunters have that sort of moveset.

Personality:

Bio: Butchered. Assassinated. Ripped apart and fashioned up as a shambling scarecrow bogeyman of who he was in life. The Edgar Allan Poe of real life was a kind man, who despite his shy demeanor and many neurosis managed to help others when he could. And yet, his estate fell into the hands of a man he hated, and traded off in his death. This man began a campaign to change the history of Poe, to make him into a drunk, an abuser, and pedophile. He succeeded.

Poe was born to a poor family, and ammonia took from him his mother. His father had long since abandoned him and his sister, so they were left orphaned at a young age. The child was taken in by John and Frances Allan of Richmond, Virginia. They never formally adopted him, but Poe was with them well into young adulthood. Tension developed later as John Allan and Edgar repeatedly clashed over debts, including those incurred by gambling, and the cost of secondary education for the young man. Poe attended the University of Virginia but left after a year due to lack of money. Poe quarreled with Allan over the funds for his education and enlisted in the Army in 1827 under an assumed name. It was at this time that his publishing career began, albeit humbly, with the anonymous collection Tamerlane and Other Poems, credited only to "a Bostonian". With the death of Frances Allan in 1829, Poe and Allan reached a temporary rapprochement. However, Poe later failed as an officer cadet at West Point, declaring a firm wish to be a poet and writer, and he ultimately parted ways with his adopted father.

Poe spent years of his life hard at work in the publishing world. Where he clashed many times with the man who would be his rival, and his ruiner. Rufus Wilmot Griswold. The man was a hack. A liar, and worst of all a swindler who stole the livelyhood of others to bolster his own. A man who knew nothing of the honest dollar. But in the end, Poe died first. Some believe it was election fraud. Others death and disease. What is known is that he was screaming in his final moments, overcome with a madness.

His reputation was mutilated in his death. His life twisted by lies of serial killings and drunken behaviors. Lies about how he slept with his own niece. Poe's final works were buried and burned, and his life reduced to that of an evil man. But it carried his legacy further on. A poisoned legacy that made him into an evil man of debilitating lifestyles and a symbol of dark gothic horrors. His own presence in the world became the fear he spread through his stories.

Weapon: Poe uses his book of stories, and a pen. From it he channels forth the nightmare creatures that haunt his dreams and thoughts. In a way, he is a caster channeling his nightmares and visions into reality.

- Existence Outside the Domain EX: This is a unique class skill to the foreigner. Rather than a traditional existence, he is a shell to something more mad and blind. As the shell is peeled back, the world and traditional parameters mean less and less. In that regard, it can be said that around Poe, the higher the parameters, the less effect. A servant with a strength of A would be like a childish slap, but a servant with a strength of E would send him flying through a wall.
- Divinity B: Poe is the human vessel through which Azathoth views our world. As the king of all outer gods, he is the most divine, and so is his vessel.
Personal Skills:
- Fear Collector EX - This skill is said to attract high quality goods and items of power. In the case of Edgar, they attract tragedies and fears. His mere presence draws on the fears of others, which he collects into his books and mind. As these are not physical goods, but metaphorical as fears and worries, this skill is EX in rank. Because to collect something that has no physical value is impossible to rank.
- Familiar C - Edgar's fears and nightmares are his familiars. He can construct these mental monsters, which obey him from the depths of his mind. Creatures like wolves with far too many eyes, or cats with fur like midnight and stars speckled throughout, are some of the things that he creates.
- Innocent Monster B - Despite never being a cruel man, Poe has become the source of horror stories. His mind picked apart after death to the point where psychosis and mental illness have been cast upon him. He carries with him the raven, which has become the symbol of who he is, and carries his curses on its wings. Some stories even suggest that had he not discovered writing, he had the makings of a very successful serial killer. One of the most tragic parts of Poe's life though is the character assassination after his death. With his estate in the hands of his rival, his life had been rewritten to one of lust, cruelty to others, and a love of the drink. Turning him into a monster after death, and the very monster he feared in life.
- Mental Pollution D - Poe is afflicted by melancholy, delirium and migraine, which lessens the effects of mental interference and enhances mysteries rooted in madness. This condition is far worse than it was in life, as an influence of his own works.

Description: Poe's has become almost synonymous with the raven. A conceptual noble phantasm, connected to the very concept of denial. Denial of life? Denial of their power? A horrifying denial. This manifested raven can be targeted towards a single target, and acts as a seal.
This seal can be used on only one servant at a time, and can weaken the flow of mana between a master and their servant. Not cutting, but rather lessening the amount of mana that can be drawn in at a time. Halving it in a way. The raven becomes a part of the servant's shadow, and can be seen at all times clinging to the shadow of their shoulder. A reminder of how they've been weakened. The raven only leaves when Poe is dead, or he choses to return the raven to himself, so he can place it on another.

Description: A silver dip pen, moulded to resemble a winding worm with mandibles forming the nib, set onto a great jet-black quill. It is a crystallization of Poe’s work, an embodiment of every mystery and terror he created or inspired, and so enhances his “magecraft”. Its true power is in its ink, a mystical poison obtained by ritually passing ammonia over hot coals, which allows him to engineer a dreadful plague, the oldest and deadliest epidemic known to humankind - fear.
Through poetic transcriptions of the Grail War kept within his Study, Poe renders its events a vector for a mystical virus. Those who feel fear at the sight of the creatures he creates or summons become host for his virus of fear. Infectees suffer mental interference that slowly exaggerates their terror, from jumpiness into paranoid hysteria, and encourages them to retell what they heard. Individual patients can be treated with suitable magecraft, and the epidemic ends if Poe or his writings are destroyed.
The infectees act as a synthetic leyline, allowing Poe to draw small amounts of mana from each at a distance. More pressingly, as the local population is infected, they warp the native thaumaturgical foundation of the land, bringing the madness and horror that populates Poe’s work closer to “nature”. His creatures increase in potency up to a maximum of three ranks, while contradictory mysteries suffer similarly increased resistance from the World. Independent phenomena appropriate to Poe’s thaumaturgy also become more likely.

Description: Before he died, Poe had planned to create his own magazine. The Stylus. In his words "There is no earthly reason why such a Magazine may not, eventually, reach a circulation as great as that of Graham's at present - viz 50,000." The expectations were great, and the idea simple. To create the kind of breeding ground for talent like his own, and a respectable community of writers, poets, and seekers of great things. Men like Nathaniel Hawthorne threw in their hats, and James Russell Lowell offered up a poem.
But Poe died before he could set his plans into action. His death stifling his creation in the womb and leaving him forever tragically filled with that regret in his dying moments.
This noble phantasm is the curses and regrets of that magazine. The expectations and beliefs piled onto it, and so became a magazine of infinite potential and none at the same time. Poe's body has become a bounded field. Inside this bounded field he creates and manifests the chaotic and impossible to understand form of his unfulfilled dream. Terrifying tendrils, with millions of eyes each can be created from his body. Minor creatures, like hideous many tendriled blobs of eyes and teeth can appear, often manifested through his writing or some degree of thought. Wolves and ravens, each appearing to be normal but then an eye opens somewhere on their body where eyes don't usually grow. Wings and many many sharp teeth.
When others fear him, or the beasts his creates, that fear cuts the cost of the mana he needs to use to create a monster from his mind. This benefits him in the long run by allowing him to fight for longer periods of time.

I was not planning on allowing extra classes but I'll consider it for the moment to be fair. Beloved Overseas has no reason to be there. Its basically an excuse to give him a miniature locational bonus anywhere that isn't east asia. The whole reason I chose poland as the location for this rp was to prevent exactly that sort of thing.

Throne of Azathoth is not allowed. That is out of Lovecraft's handbook foreigner he may be he has literal no ties to Lovecraft himself in his life, and noble phantasms are exactly things that were a part of the creator's life. If anything that would be a part of Lovecraft School. As such you may as well take divinity away as Poe is nowhere near divine status in anything. He was a normal man in life. If I were to make Lovecraft himself he would not have divinity.

Collector level EX is a bit of a stretch you're saying he's on par or around level with Gilgamesh in terms of hoarding things.

@vancexentan Well, apparently divinity is a class skill for Foreigners, because they're the vessels to our world through the eyes of outer gods.

I'll mess around and see what I can do to replace Throne of Azathoth. I've got a good idea for the Penn, the novel he never finished.

As for why he has Collector EX, I mentioned in the thing that he collects fears, rather than physical objects. And fears can't be quantified in quality.

@ReflectionAlright fair enough with divinity both of the known foreigners have it but you'll need to bring it down to B, or C. Both the foreigners have it as B.

Alright I've thought about it a bit and I believe that it should just be a separate skill. Collector is meant for physical objects mostly to my knowledge. Collector in terms of a mental state would be I guess something like 'Fearmonger' or what have you in name.

Updated Poe. I removed Beloved Overseas, dropped his divinity down a rank, changed the name of Collector to Fear Collector (because Fearmonger just sounds a little wrong to me. I'll workshop a name later), and changed out his NP Throne of Azathoth for something closer to Poe.

@Reflection What does the the nevermore phantasm do exactly? You're not exactly state what that raven does, and or what weaknesses it may have. Furthermore unless I'm mistaken Stylus is really overpowered as long as there is someone fearful nearby he can leech them for mana?

It's a small number but I think we could make it work. Dealing with half a faction's worth of NPC allies sounds like a hassle though, so maybe we could get split up into different home bases for an assault on two fronts so we can have all the player characters in one little squad?

I can split the other NPC's into their own parties, or just simply hold them back. Karna, Atalante, Spartacus, and Achilles weren't all in the same party continuously for the faction of red.

He's canon, but I expanded on that and switched some things around for this sheet. He's sort of unusual in terms of NPs but I don't think he's really overpowered.

Wish: Rider is generally happy to serve a Master in need of his skills, however should he get his hands on the grail he would probably wish to never again in any incarnation encounter that snakelike woman.

Weapons: While not a weapon, exactly, Rider can summon the powerful Phantasmal Beast, Pegasus as his mount. Such a being has extremely high flight speed, physical abilities, and magic resistance. However, it is a rather docile creature which is mostly useful only for high-speed travel unless a certain Noble Phantasm is applied.

Magic Resistance C: Rider can cancel spells with a chant below two verses targeting him, but cannot defend against magecraft on the level of High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals.

Personal Skills
Divinity B: Rider, being the son of the king of gods, Zeus, has a naturally high level of Divinity. This allows him to break through "purge defence" and divine protective skills such as Protection of the Faith and Enlightenment of the Sacred Fig.

Disengage A: Rider can withdraw from the battlefield in the midst of combat, resetting battle conditions to their state at the beginning of the fight (turn 1) and forcibly releasing some of the bad status conditions from himself. He would never admit it, but having such a high rank in this skill is likely tied to his nature, somehow.

Bearer of Boons B: An ability reflecting the many Noble Phantasms that were showered onto Rider during his life. Whether being granted gifts from the gods or taking for himself the mystical head of Medusa, he it undoubtedly someone with a propensity for obtaining powerful artifacts. For other Heroic Spirits, letting Rider use their Noble Phantasms is a simple as placing them in his hands. However, the same effect cannot be applied to Rider giving away his own Noble Phantasms.

Noble Phantasms
Rider received from the gods perhaps the most treasures ever gifted to a hero. However most individually are less than exceptional, and activating multiple at once may prove troublesome depending on the mana available.

Disguise Mantle

Description: Said to be a helmet granting invisibility in the legend, this item granted to Rider by Hades to allow him to sneak up on Medusa instead takes the form of a tattered black mantle. Wearing it allows the Rider to change his appearance at will. He can mimic a person right down to their voice and change or remove his displayed stats and presence as a Servant, but cannot truly hide his energy signature in the same way as an Assassin. At the very least he should register as a human with a large amount of mana.

Winged Sandals

Description: A pair of sandals lent to Rider by the messenger god Hermes for the purpose of evading Medusa's deathblows. They exist as normal sandals worn by Rider at all times and can sprout wings at will to take to the skies as easily as walking. This method of flight lacks the immense movement speed of his mount, but offers higher maneuverability and evasion, essentially being worth a rank-up to Agility where dexterity is concerned.

Mirror-Shield

Description: The polished shield provided to Rider by Athena to allow him to locate and battle Medusa without directly looking upon her. At base it is a sturdy shield capable of withstanding strong attacks, but its real value lies in its ability to "reflect" a comprehensive map of the surrounding landscape, up to the scale of a small town. Always keeping its own position at the centre, it can display a top-down layout or a 3D multi-floored guide, and marks the current exact positions of all life forms. To avoid being designated would require use of something like Presence Concealment at B rank or higher, and since such abilities are reduced in effectiveness upon preparing to attack, it can be used to react a split second before an ambush if Rider watches its surface carefully. Even if the display seems somewhat clunky, Rider finds it quite intuitive to the point where he can engage an enemy without laying eyes on them.

Description: The sack bestowed onto Rider by the Hesperides, the nymphs who tend to Hera's orchard, to reflect Medusa's "Breaker Gorgon" ability and safely contain her head. It is an anti-sealing Noble Phantasm that distorts the concept of the world through a mirror world-type Bounded Field that places the inside of the pouch on the outside and the outside of the pouch in the inside. When an enemy targets Rider with an ability or effect directly applying to him rather than being an an attack or projectile, he can react with the bag's true name, causing it to inflate, swallowing him up and reflecting the enemy's ability back onto them like a mirror. It is also possible to reverse this effect, forcefully cementing the fact that "the inside is in, the outside is out" in such a way that things placed into the sack are put into a sort of suspended animation state where any passive effects are sealed and any physical or magical decay is put on hold.

Description: The only Noble Phantasm Rider obtained for himself, it is the severed head of Medusa whose gaze turn those who met it to stone. Upon calling its true name, the eyes spring open and all those who can see them directly are subject to powerful Mystic Eyes of Petrification. Having deteriorated somewhat from when Medusa was alive, they will quickly begin turning to stone anyone with a Mana parameter ranking of D or lower. Those with rank C Mana may or may not be petrified depending on conditions like distance and focus, while those with rank B and higher will never turn to stone, but will sustain a temporary rank-down to all parameters due to the pressure. One who has been turned to stone is essentially dead, but there are advanced and time-consuming methods through which such an effect could be reversed. Nothing can be done for someone who has been smashed to pieces, however.

Immortal Slaying Scythe

Description: The sword(?) given to Rider by Zeus for the purpose of delivering the deathblow to Medusa. It is a holy weapon that deals bonus damage against monsters, more against serpant-like monsters, and an exceptional amount to gorgons like Medusa and her sisters. Its greatest strength is its trait of Refraction of Longevity, which is a divine ability that nullifies the "undying" attribute of immortals and inflicts wounds that cannot be restored by any methods other than healing in accordance to the natural laws (nonmagical medical treatment and recovery over time).

Description: A whip and bridle which can be used to greatly strengthen and control a Phantasmal Species, with Rider's usual choice being the Pegasus that sprung from the slain gorgon's neck. The already mighty Pegasus will have its abilities greatly augmented when this is applied to it, becoming a nigh-indestructable monster capable of travelling hundreds of kilometres per hour. Its charge is Rider's ultimate offensive measure, with the Pegasus becoming something like a white comet capable of engulfing and obliterating a wide area. Of course, if another Phantasmal Beast could be procured the exact buffs applied might be quite different.

@ManyThings I would honestly prefer you pick another rider but if you chose to/insist on using Perseus then I will need you to cut a few phantasms from the bunch. The problem I have with him is his overabundance of phantasms some of which are literally taken from other noble phantasms from other characters. Others like Immortal Scythe are pretty much capable of inflicting wounds that I have no other way of healing legitimately through this roleplay short of killing Perseus, and breaking the curse ala Diarmuid's spear.

I quite like this hero, so I'll probably try to find a way to make him usable. Noble Phantasms are his whole thing and Rider is the Noble Phantasm class, plus they're all in his legend and some of the lower ones like flying, disguise, and minimap are more or less on par with high-level magecraft. One thing I could do is fold them all into one phantasm like King's Order if that would made it look better but aside from that I could cut the Medusa's head (just something I added because it was mentioned in a FGO materials book) and preservation ability from the sack and nerf Harpe so the anti-heal wears off after a while, basically just putting someone out of commission for the rest of the night if he lands a good hit.

If I end up having to switch characters I'll probably have to change classes too since few other Riders appeal to me.
