Roxy wasn't like the rest. She hadn't exactly volunteered. When the guards came to her door she bared her teeth at them but followed them she knew from past experience that they would used the tranqs. She was not willing to be unconcious again. She was going to get control of her life and if that meant following orders for awhile. One benifit to cooperating was learning to control and use her new skills and abilities. She stormed through the halls towards the dining room.

The others were suppose to be joining her today. She couldn't imagine who was crazy enough to volunteer for the old loon's experiment. Knowing Vlad he had made it seem something that was on the up and up. Rather than a government experiment that only a few people knew about. Few people would approve of experimenting on humans in this way. DNA splicing was still a very highly debated topic.

Suddenly the doors opened. A girl with long jet black hair was escorted into the room. Her brown eyes swept the room evaluation each person in the room. Unlike the others she didn't wear a prison uniform instead she wore a old leather black biker jacket over a black lacy t-shirt. Her black leather pants fit like a second skin and were tucked into old black leather biker boots.

Oliver Cruz

Was he crazy or was he desperate? Sometimes, both were no more different than the other depending on the situation and if Oliver had to guess, he was both. There was a man whose face was shrouded in the shadows when he offered this chance for Oliver to be transferred from prison to a special lab for a project to enhance him. It was already bad enough that Oliver was a dangerous man. Imagine him with enhanced abilities that would make him 5-10 times worse than how he is now.

It's been maybe a few days since Oliver have been here and had the procedure done on him. To be honest, Oliver lost count of how many days he's been in this place. Pain and hallucinations was a big part of his gaining of power and passing out a couple of times before one day, the door opened up with several guards calling for him to get up. The words freak and criminal were the words that Oliver remembered when they strapped him up, covering his mouth with a muzzle and keeping the tranquilizer guns on him while the straightjacket was done being fastened and led the man out the room to be brought to the evaluation area.

When brought into the dining room, the guards looked at each other, several still pointing the guns while Oliver was being unfastened and freed of the garment and unleashed of the mask before the men left the room. The doors were secured so, he couldn't easily just walk up out of there but he did admire the place. This was the first time being in this facility that he's seen something other than the operating room and his cell. He wondered who else were going to show up....that was until he saw another escorted without a prison uniform. He looked the woman up and down, automatically getting vulgar thoughts about what he'd do to her but for tight now...he was going to play it cool.

Cobri
Cobri has been here for about a few days. He today is being led to the dining room. Hes hoping for some at least decent food.
Before this all he had been fed were dead rats. He has somewhat started to regret his choice to participate in this.
He still has trouble eating as his new body is designed to kind of swallow everything whole.
He slithers along to the dining room being lead by two guards with tranquilizer guns.
Right before this they had neutralized his venom which he always hates when they doe.

Upon walking into the dining room he notices that hes the only one whose appearance has drasticly changed. He thinks to himself:
"Oh god im an abomination. While the others seem to not have any change im a legless scaley abomination."
He sits at the dining table by curling up his tail on the chair he does seem quite taller when doing this.

Vita

Many times in her life Vita was faced with a decision that was clearly going to cause her trouble, many times she had failed to stop herself from ignoring the sense of dread and the foretelling of obvious consequence and doing some very bad decisions. Typically, those moments were moments in which she fled from possible sudden changes in her life, missing a job interview if she feared to get the position, missing a date if she feared a relationship, yet, in stark irony, this time it was the opposite, she had walked into a mistake that fully changed her life forever and she knew what she was doing.

Expecting preferential treatment for being a government worker had been a silly mistake, she was a small fry desperate to save her dad's life, not some noble selfless hero. Then again, she had not met anyone else to gauge it, perhaps the not-so-willing experiments had been living in more pain and discomfort than herself, she feared to imagine such hell existed.

The guards knocked on her door and she got up, following orders with nothing but quiet nods. There was no point in rebellion if the cause was helpless, so she did her best to not create animosity. If she remembered correctly, the task today was to dine and socialize, one she knew was hard, she had been a vegetarian, now anything but meat caused her to vomit, the second seemed like it would be worse than that. In her prison uniform, she was escorted into the dining room, entering well after three others had arrived.

Addy had thought the biggest mistake she made in her life was following her parents' lead for so long, and not breaking away sooner. After leaving for the Navy, and doing something for her, she felt like she was finally finding herself. When she had an offer to be involved in this experiment, she had saw it as another chance to prove herself, to be somebody that she hadn't been all her life. She ignored the doubts in her head and look what happened to her.

Now, this experiment was the biggest mistake she had ever made in her life. Who knew how long she had been here. Being forced into windowless rooms, she had lost track of time. She hated being in her cell. She found herself often pacing, pent up energy making her hands shake and heart race. Those experiments they had been doing on her... she still wasn't sure what exactly they were doing. She just knew she felt... different.

The door to her cell opened, and she immediately whipped towards it, messy hair framing her face as she snarled. Though, when she saw the tranquilizer guns in the guards' hands, she growled in the back of her throat and hunched down, eyes going to the floor. She hated being pierced by those and being unaware of what was happening. One of the guards nudged the end of his gun into her lower back, making her move. She was at least glad to get out of her cell. She wanted to run, but knew it would be useless.

She was being led somewhere she hadn't been to before. It made her nervous, but she kept moving, not wanting the guards to lash out. She let out a slight whimper as she was forced through heavy-looking doors, eyes darting around. She saw four others in the room, none in a Navy uniform like herself. She wondered where her friends went, the ones who joined the experiment, too. She hoped they were still alive. The guards nudged her forward then left, the doors securely closing behind her. Her eyes lingered on one person who looked like a humanoid animal, before turning on her heel and making her way towards a table that wasn't near anybody else's.

Roxy studied the newcomers as they entered. She knew what they were. Which was weird. But she was getting used to identifying people by scent. While she had never any of these animals. None of them lived in Chicago. With maybe the owl. But she was pretty sure even those were rare in the city. Especially the part of the city she had grew up in. She had no idea how Vlad decided what animal each person got.

The doors opened and Vlad stepped in surrounded by guards. "Congratulations. You have survived the first stage of the experiment. As a reward you all will be moved to regular rooms. You will be allowed to roam freely on this floor as long as you aren't on restriction after breakfast I will show you around. Then we will start your training." He explained. He was looking forward to seeing what they could do. He had high hopes.

Oliver Cruz

Okay...first...there's a girl with a leather jacket entering. Looks like she may have special privileges. Was she like him...given some ability of an animal? She had to be like him. Why else would she be here? The two other females who came it had Oliver's attention. They didn't really all too threatening but they had a pretty face on them. It was almost as if he was a predator seeking out his prey when he looked at those girl with a smirk.

If this was enough to get his attention, what came next made Oliver tilt his head. There was humanoid snake that came in. Just what hell was that? Was that what he's suppose to look like or was he a failed experiment? Oliver stared at him, almost as if he didn't like the fact that there was another snake in the room with him. Only difference was that this humanoid snake was an even bigger freak that he was. The thought of him turning into something like that kinda made him curious but tat curiosity would have to wait. And I thought my situation was fucked up... Oliver said out of comment towards the other snake guy.

That was when someone came forth. An older man, coming to congratulate them on surviving their experiments. When speaking about them getting normal rooms and roaming, Oliver spoke up. So no more straight jackets? How long we gotta be here!? And what are we training for? Fighting crime and shit? He asked him.

Vita

Vita looked around with curiosity. She was wearing institution clothes, as she had accidentally shredded her own in that first, terrible week. At first, she thought it looked like a prison garb, but, in comparison to those who actually wore them, she felt she was better off. She looked around to the people in the room, staring quite uncomfortably at others, a quirk of the gene.

She didn't know the names yet, but she was getting familiar with the people. The girls seemed to more approachable than the two males, one who she felt had an aura of suspicious going on and the other, who was, well, a snake... No. She shook her head, she couldn't judge the person for his looks, everyone who was there was on the same boat, if she judged him, she would have no right to be concerned about being judged by others later.

Before she could make up her mind, whe a scientist-type started a little speech. Survived she whispered in perplexion, rubbing her chin. Was this it? She remembered a whole lot more people in the selection process, surely others could have been still in testing, but the use of survived gave a terrible of sense of why there were only five of them there.

The man she had trouble trusting spoke some reasonable words. "Yes... What was the training about again? I have a recollection of something, but my memory has been failing me since the experiments." she told in a tone more aloof than she wished.

Connor Paine

The experiments hadn't phased Connor much. The only thing he felt after each session was a small pain in his throat. No, what really got under his skin was being stuck in the damn cell. He was an active individual. No life in or out, pure boredom. Only a small cockroach which he had already killed days prior, it's body lying in the corner almost mockingly.

The guards knocked on his cell. "Get up, the door will be opened." Connor sat up, responding in the guards exact voice, albeit fairly shaky, he was still tired. "Alright, I'm up.". The door opened and the guards spilled in. No need for a straitjacket, his abilities were far from physical anyway. He was brought the cold hallway to the destination.

The dining room was already filled with other people, who he could only assume were other participants of the experiments. The only one who immediately stood out was the snake-man. He didn't feel sympathy. He should have gone to prison instead. They should have known the risks. But then an older man stepped in with good news. No more cramped cells. Free limited roaming. Perfect. He glanced at the first man who spoke up. He then responded in his natural voice. Deep, smooth, with a faint but noticeable Southern accent. "Doubtful. This is a government facility, clearly. I'd say something more covert. Intelligence, destabilising governments. So, fun.". He cracked a faint smile.

"No more straight jackets unless you lose control. The training will be for several things what we focus on will depend on your individual skills are. Some of you I know where go others we will have to see. Fighting, crime fighting, spying, destabilizing other countries are things you will learn to do. Will we start with basic tests to see how the DNA that was added to you has changed what you could do before." Vlad explained as the doors opened. A group of soldiers entered carrying trays of food. Each tray had different foods. Some had meats. Others had fruits and vegetables. The soldiers set them on the tables before sitting down. "Eat and get to know eat other. You will be spending a lot of time together. You have today to adjust. Tomorrow we will do the tests. Any questions?"

After asking the "great doctor" a question about what they were going to do, Oliver looked over at the other guy with the southern accent. Covert my ass...you call that ugly fuck right there covert? Pointing to the snake hybrid. @UltraCraftGamesNo offense mano...I'm of a snake too but I didn't turn into that shit. He chuckled.

Oliver watched as the food came in, smirking Finally...some real room service. Turning back to the guy with the southern accent Knowin' the government...if we do fuck up...we'd just be scapegoats anyway.......what the hell kinda animal you got in you? He asked him first before looking at the other 3 ladies wondering what they were capable of?

Vita

Her eyes widened at 'destabilizing other countries', she knew the fighting, the crime-stopping, and even the spying, but that was a new one, and one she did not like too much. All others ranged from acceptable to morally grey, that last one... was possibly vile. There was no helping it out though, she had turned herself into a weapon, so she would need to follow along.

"I am... a snowy owl. My name is Vita." she said. "My mutations seem to be mostly internal and in terms of instincts... I think, in the end, internal or external, we changed a lot. Used to be a vegetarian who slept early and feared heights, now I can only eat meat and feel more comfortable in some high place during the night" she tapped her chin and looked at Cobri. "Though, since so many changes were possible, I wouldn't have minded some wings." she told in a lower voice.

She would stay to hear what the others had to tell, but once introductions were done, she would move over to one of the meat trays.

Connor Paine

He glanced at the snake-person which the man had referenced. "Well... There was bound to be casualties. I suppose they can use him for war. Depends how badly they fucked up. Count yourself lucky that you didn't become like him." He gave Oliver a sideways glance as the food was brought in. It did certainly look delectable. And all this talk of spying...destabilising governments. The crime fighting didn't sound so nice, hopefully he could skip that.

Then he was asked about the animal that was inside him. For a moment he lamented not having something cooler to say. "You ever heard of a lyrebird? Neither had I before this. They're a bird that lives in Australia.". He then switched to Oliver's voice. "They can imitate any sound they hear. Now I can do that, too. To hammer home the point, he switched over to a perfect imitation of Hall of the Mountain King, acting like a human jukebox. He stopped and glanced at the girl who just spoke, the one with the snowy owl DNA, going back to his natural voice. "I'd have done an owl imitation, but it wouldn't have been impressive enough." He smirked.

Addy wasn't too thrilled with most of what she was hearing. She listened for now, glancing around at the others. She didn't like the one male, who kept staring at the women. She would have to watch him, since she didn't trust him. She'd have to watch all of them. She wasn't willing to trust anybody just yet. Though, they were all in the same boat. She got herself into this, made into this thing. She wasn't exactly sure what she could do at the moment but use the free time they'd have to get her energy back and figure out how to escape. She didn't want to stay here and be a weapon for this man.

So, two snakes, an owl, and a bird that can imitate sounds. Okay. While she was good at being a diplomat, she wasn't much for casual conversation, especially right now. She was so hungry, and she was struggling to not concentrate on that. "Wolf." she said, because she was distracted by the smell of food. Not just any food, either. The meat. It smelt amazing. She breathed in, and didn't hesitate to get up and wander over to one of the meat trays. She was starving.

She glanced back at the supposed doctor as she ate a strip of steak, licking the juice from her fingers, much like an animal cleaning itself after a meal. "What's your end goal? What do you hope to achieve through us?" she asked before sucking down another steak strip, almost unable to stop herself.

Prey was Roxy's first thought as the others stated the animal they had been combined with. Not that her cat had much interest in the snakes but they were possible food if the need arose. Not that that was likely. Not for some time. They weren't going to risk the survivors right away. No they would be treated kindly for the most part. "Roxy. Panther." Was all she said in way of introductions. She wasn't really a people person. Working with others was going to be a challenge for her.

"To answer your question Cobri. Your transformation was unfortunate. I believe you received too much of the snake DNA. Honestly we didn't expect you to survive. But since you have we will use you. My end goal is to save lives. If I can prove that this experiment is viable we can transform soldiers and first responders and less lives will be lost. I just want to help." Vlad explained.

Oliver for a moment was distracted by the tray with the whole rotisserie chicken especially cooked for him. No veggies, nothing but meat. Before Oliver started to chow down, the southern sounding male answered him about the snake hybrid man to which Oliver looked back at and shrugged. Yeah...maybe...I may be lucky I didn't turn into that but the question is...would I have been stronger and more dangerous in that form? He took his seat and ripped a piece of the chicken apart. Hearing what kind of bird he took after and the replication of his own voice, Oliver pointed Oh shit! Now that's useful, Mano. And yeah never heard of it but hey, I think we could cause damage with that. He told him with a chuckle.

He looked to the other females learning of one being an owl, a wolf, and a Panther, only learning 2 of the 3 names. Well it's nice to meet you little ladies. The name's Oliver...and my dna is that of a black mamba, amor. He told them. With those three animals, He'd mostly have to watch after them because the wolf and panther girls could possibly pose a problem for him. He was unsure about the owl girl but hey, if they had to work together, so be it. That is if they trust him enough to team with him.

He shrugged, sitting down. "Maybe, you may have been stronger. But at the end of the day, you'd still be a freak. And who wants that?" He looked over the food. Unlike the other participants, his experiments hadn't changed his mannerisms, instincts or appearance very much. He didn't crave seeds, or bugs, or whatever lyrebirds ate. He picked off some chicken and then moved some cornbread over to his plate. It might have been prepared specially for him. Maybe not, who knows. A lot of stuff didn't really make sense here. "With any luck. Lots of damage. He nodded, smirking.

As Oliver turned to the female experiments, Connor rolled his eyes a little, then looked aimlessly about while eating, his eyes catching the wolf girl. He switched to an imitation of Vlad's voice. "What I meant to say was - we're using your DNA as cannon fodder so we can make supersoldiers to fight our wars for us. You will probably die." He grinned.

"So I know the boys volunteered to get out of jail. You two don't seem to be the law breaking type. So tell me how you two ladies got involved in this." Roxy asked as she moved to one of the meat trays. She noticed her movement where smoother. She glided now. She had always been able to move quietly but now she was almost silent. In a way it was ironic that they had made her even better at being a killer than before the experiment.

She was curious about the others. The boys were thugs. Guys who worked for a gang n an effort to prove themselves. They didn't see that they would never feel the confidence they were seeking. They would never feel like they belonged because they would always feel like they had to prove themselves. She had seen enough of their sort to know the type. The girls how ever were because she was less familiar with the type of people they were.

As the questions were asked, the one called Roxy asked an interesting question, while also giving them valuable information. "I was a ranger, working on the parks of ... ermh, a wilder side of the country. I was born in the region and always had an affinity for the job. This, however, is a situation I got into because... well, my father was sick, and I was desperate enough to accept anything to get him a proper treatment our small town... and small wealth... couldn't provide. From there, I think it's easy to see how I ended up here."
