Interest Check - Fantasy with Knights, Adventurers, Magic, and Whatnot

Makes no difference to me. I have a character in mind and I just want to know more about how magic works so I can figure out what to do.

I was thinking of having a character who learned magic from a hag or a similar magical monster (either that or a tamer of magical beasts).

Aye, I was thinking of some kind of golem-mancer who doesn't make golems, but replaces parts of his own body with golem-components. A medieval cyborg, if you will. I just need to know how magic works.

If we're talking characters I had a young Holy Knight who uses blade weaving. A form of magical projection that lets him form magic into a physical entity (still glowing), so he can patch up or reinforce his own weapons with it, or create floating blades that fly at foes, and other similar applications. For more I want to know how magic functions so I can expand more on how it works and make more advanced techniques.

But with how his magic is he can basically turn bladeless swords into lightsabers with his magic, which is cool. They just won't be straight laser lightsabers, just a magic blade.

Surprised to see how much interest has been shown for this, but like others had said, probably half will drop this in a week or two which is kay.

As for magic, I don't wanna put a real limit on what can and can't be done so its mostly "Can my character be able to *insert random ability here*?"

As long as I don't see it be too overpowered, why not. Nanatsu seemed to have a wide-array of abilities, so I guess we can partially based it off that for now. I'm just trying to come up with a way to at least regulate (to avoid abusing the meta) the abilities of each character.

Also, from what I'm seeing everyone's going for a knight. Would you guys prefer we scrap the adventurers?

I was probably gonna make my 'Zerker character an adventurer. An Irish/Celtic themed battle loving wanderer probably wouldn't fit in well with a group of holy knights.

but if it makes things easier, It'd be easy enough to work 'em into more knightly, heh.

Oh no I mean having a proper magic system is a good idea, like what is the principle it works on? It's source, and execution methods.

I was not aware we actually had a lot of knights though. My character was originally in other ideas an adventurer, but his blade weaving has a nice aesthetic fitting for holy knights as well.

@Rune_Alchemist Might be harder, but seems more fun to have two factions with having slightly different ideologies. One being proper defenders of Britannia and upholders of justice, and the other a group of eccentric and crass thrill-seeking individuals.

Both will be organizations in their own right with their own hierarchy. One's just more professional than the other. Mission types would vary a bit as well.

@Sho Minazuki Nothing to technical. Just the principle of what magic is and what your characters can and can't do with it is.

My character is probably closer to an adventurer than a knight, using "monster magic" and all. I'm not sure knights would accept someone like that.

My character is also closer to adventurer, not a Knight at all, actually. I see him closer to being a thief, if anything.

'Adventurer' is pretty close to what I have in mind, as well.
Currently trying to decide between a construct, a centaur of sorts or a merfolk (aqua elf?) forced out of their environment.

@Sho Minazuki Style varies and is based on preference of the knight, but most will be in armor from head to toe. The weirdos usually deviate form this norm. The difference between knights that would distinguish their rank would be the color of their armor.

A thief arctype is fine, but an actual thief is no bueno.

Yep, it's definitely a thief archetype, not someone who just goes and steal from people. I was just thinking of a character more on the sneaky side, more than a Knight bound by a code and an order or their loyalty to someone. My character would be more of a loner, fending for himself, until he meets everyone else in the context of the RP, of course.

I could. I'm still drawing my character. Finding a good armor design is difficult, I'm not sure what kind of ranks my character could hold, but I'm settling around Captain currently.
