I wrote out this prompt while listening to "His Dream" from the Nier soundtrack. It's a nice piece.

I don't know why but when you said the deadline was going to be pushed back further than usual, I was thinking December. And then you said November 30th. I laughed... but I shouldn't be because I'm in no position to write anything good right now.

Very excited to see what people come up for the prompt this time.

I still haven't even had time finish my reviews of the last prompts. (I still plan on posting those eventually, even if they'll not be all roses.) Among many things keeping me busy, I've been behind even writing my 50,000 words for the month in NaNo. So I'll likely pass on this one, even despite the prompt not really piquing my personal interest. I guess it fits the month. (Though the word count rule for the prompt admittedly already is making me predict future problems for that one...)

um... what exactly is the prompt? We couldn't get any real sense of what it was from reading it.

@Ellri Write a story where a character does something for some one/people without receiving anything of monetary value in return. We get bonus points if it can warm his cold dead heart with an emotional roller coaster. ETC

Right now I'm writing the continuation of my Beware The Metal Age entry for NaNoWriMo. I know people were curious about that, so I decided to finish the story for NaNo. If I hit the 50.000 words ahead of schedule, I should be able to write something for this prompt as well. According to the NaNoWriMo stats, if I keep up the pace I currently have I should get the 50.000 on november 22th.
Trying to get to 30.000 words today (at 28.000, so I should be able to)

ok. It was a very convoluted and confounding way of phrasing a concept that is quite simple. That it also involved a movie we have not even heard of, let alone seen, did not make it less confounding.

I have a story written. It is being edited for grammar mistakes and shall be submitted soon. However, it is probably too passive, again. Ah! C'est la vie!

Edit: Passivity x Infinity & Beyond!

Yeah I do apologize for that. It was late and I was having a lot of trouble wording the prompt. I about scrapped it, to tell the truth.

Basically, write the sappiest most diabetes-inducing Christmas story possible. Just make sure the person/thing doing the good deeds are not compensated. Gotta give it from the heart, yo.

Oh, and the movie that inspired me to make this prompt wasn't intended to have any real bearing on the actual content of the entries. It really was just a fun fact. I recommend everyone sees it, though! Pay It Forward is a nice little movie.

Also, crikey, Briza! That was fast! I like it, though. Short and ever-so-sweet, and sprinkled with the main character's pomp for a bit of depth.

Hello again everyone! I know a lot of people are still reeling from the effects of Thanksgiving, be it a wicked stomach ache or coming back home from visiting far away relatives, but I just want to give a reminder for the Contest! Officially, as of the very moment, the deadline is the 30th of this month. However, like I said in the prompt and entry thread, I am more than willing to give an extension if needed! Just let me know!

@Frizan I know I'm just one cog in the machine, but I'd personally recommend not extending it. You gave everyone at least half a month. If people can't write and post something by then, it should go to the people that complied with the rules. If deadlines or guidelines are made in the first place, those things should really be followed...

I can at least promise that the contest won't be uncontested.

Still working on my NaNoWriMo story, but you don't need to extend the deadline just for me.
I did reach the 50k, but the story is unfinished so I want to complete that first.

Well it's out there now.

I tried taking a couple days to ponder if there was anything I could do to improve upon it, and didn't really come up with anything concrete. But I'm sure a comma is there that shouldn't be. Sometimes its fun just to see how twisted you can see "hey, you actually took time to craft and write these sentences and structure" as a negative thing.

Because keeping it subtle seems difficult. I wonder how obvious the styling of one of those moral stories in Christmas Tale/Narrator Bits will be. Time will tell.

Would have considered joining, but with the contests coming out more or less whenever frizan and co feel like it, I was unable to anticipate it and set up other arrangements. That, and I'm now GM/Co-GM of 3 games now. I'm still not sure how that happened.

Regardless, I've read both entries and eagerly await the chance to cast my vote.

Yeah, I really do apologize for how...sporadic the contests can be. I'm going to try to set a schedule in the future, so there can be a bit of consistency in everything.

Thankfully, I already pretty much have this month's contest figured! Given the holiday it's probably fairly easy to guess what it's going to be, but fuck it real life is shitty on its own. I would prefer, if at all possible, for my fiction to be a bit more chipper.

Besides, it's a fun concept anyway.

If a monthly contest is too much, why not bi-monthly? That's a full month to write entries, and a full month for people to review. It certainly makes joining a little more bearable, especially if you like longer entries. Regardless, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

@Frizan On that note, I know you've (or the runners of the forum) have already tried adding more people to create contests...but perhaps, recruit potential interested (and actually) active members to help you out? ^-^' Couldn't see the harm in it at least...
