She has lost the passion, the spark of life after, which the most devastating thing she learned. She had a mental breakdown and shutdown right in front of the champion at the time. The words uttered out of her mouth was ’I did this all for my mother Melinda but why…’ The champion in question, felt sorry for her, which asked for someone to take Nancy home to mourn for her mother. She was ’this’ close in becoming a champion of the Unova region but all her passion and fire burnt out all at once.
She gets embarrassed very easily, mostly when people come up to her and compliment her, ask her hand in marriage or trying to cheer her up. However, she disregards the marriage proposal with a outright no, she won’t get married to anyone since all they want is her family’s wealth. She acts like she cares, when they try to cheer her up and compliment her as long as they don’t mention her mother.
