"You were?" That was sort of comforting to hear. She was glad to not be the only one unsure. Ari was a bit surprised at how downtrodden the girl appeared, and her heart sank. I made her sad! I shouldn't have asked her so suddenly! "Y-Yes... You are a very kind person. B-But you don't have to decide right now! We did just meet, So you don't know me that well..." She didn't realize as she spoke that her shawl had dropped down just enough to reveal part of her gills on her neck. "How about food? Are you hungry? I'll go get us something! Be right back!" She sauntered off before Elizabeth could respond, wanting to give the girl some space. Idiot...!

Elizabeth nodded slightly. She started to give a faint smile when she was complimented like that. However, before she could say anything, Ari had added something, talking really fast. Elizabeth watched as she ran off, seeming to be nervous again. 'did I do something wrong?'she thought. She sighed, feeling bad. She had a seat in a chair and frowned, looking at the floor.

Ari was so distracted by her nervous thoughts that she didn't even think to fix her shawl; her gills were plainly visible. Calm down, calm down... She was nice. Surely you didn't make her dislike you. Just grab something to eat and go talk to her, again... She blinked and suddenly stopped walking. What did shape-shifters like to eat? Ari looked around the room in confusion, not sure where to go for this task. The young woman had been so flustered that she hadn't thought to ask Elizabeth about her food preferences. Nice going...

Elizabeth sighed. She sat near the buffet. she thought about various things. but, she especially thought about ari and how she had run off like that. Elizabeth was really lost in her own thoughts. She closed her eyes for a moment or so.

Brandon looks at Kaliska sitting across from him in the carriage. his father wanted kaliska escorted to the ball and only trusted Brandon to do so. Brandon was fiercely protective of Kaliska. he could tell that she felt nervous. she kept playing with a piece of her dress. their father didn't let her go out much.

kaliska looked out the window of the carriage looking at the countryside as they headed to the ball. she felt a set of eyes on her "stop. staring at me Brandon" she says softly. "it's not making me feel better" she told him as she turned her head slightly to look at him in his eyes.

He held back a laugh but smiled "kali you will be fine don't worry i will be with you" he told her his smile widen.

she rolls her eyes "yeah until something pretty comes along to distract you brother" her lips curled up on one side devilishly.

he laughed " no i promised father to protect you tonight i won't stray to far from you" he told her. their carriage slows and comes to a stop. Brandon opens the door and gets out and offers his hand to kaliska. she takes it and exits the carriage. she fixes her dress trying to get rid of her nervous energy.

Brandon cleared his throat and Kaliska took his arm as they walked to the door. once they reached the line Kaliska looked around taking in her surrroundings.

Eric Edwards continued to great guests(a lot of them npcs right now for obvious reasons). He noticed two more guests approaching. He gave a bow of his head as they reached the door. He greeted the male and the female that were there.
"welcome."
He gave a small smile.

Elizabeth was all alone. She waited for her new friend. she tried to be patient.

Brandon bowed in return. "Thank you for the invitation" he says to him. "i'm Brandon Crowe and this is my sister Kaliska" he says as he introduce his sister.

Kaliska snapped out of her daydream as she heard Brandon say her name. she lowered her eyes and curtsy to Eric. When she came up she let her icey blue eyes fall him and gave a sheepish smile. "hello" she says "and please call me Kali" she says to him.

Eric gave a bow of his head to both of them.
"It is a pleasure."
He nodded when the girl told him to call her 'kali'.
"Anyway, come inside. You may be shown to your rooms first, or you can head straight to the ballroom to mingle with the other guests."

Kaliska looked to Brandon "Thank you. we will go to the ball and see our room later" he says to Eric. he began to. walk with Kaliska in tow into the home following the sound of music.

they entered the ballroom. it was alive with music and couples dancing Brandon scanned the room. he was looking for threats and seeing the different creatures that gathered here.

Kali's senses were heightened. her lips turned into a wide smile as she looked around the ballroom. she looked at her brother "I'm thirsty" she says to hom

he nodded and walked them over to the bar. he got to glasses of blood wine. he handed her one as he sipped his.

Kaliska took the glass and took a few sips and saw a girl sitting and had a few empty chairs. she tapped her brother and pointed and walked over to the girl (elizabeth). "excuse me. but are these seats taken?" she asked her.

brandon stood behind his sister as she talked.

Elizabeth blinked. She jumped in her seat. She had been so lost in thought, waiting for the other girl, that she had no idea someone had been approaching. She glanced in the direction of another female voice. She shrugged a bit.
"go ahead."
Her voice was rather quiet.

Eric greeted other guests after that. He had given them a nod before doing so. He was now quite busy.

kaliska gave her a smile "Thank you" she says as she takes a seat. "im kaliska but you can call me Kali" she says to her. "my brother Brandon" she says as she introduce him.

Brandon looks at the girl and bows to her "miss" he says to her and gives her a small smile that met his eyes

Ari sighed to herself, feeling horrible for running off like she had. Things seemed to be livening up, but all she could think about was how she had floundered. It was normal to ask someone to be your friend, right? She shook her head and pulled her shawl around her tighter, concealing her gills once more. Focus on one thing at a time... food. Still unsure of what Elizabeth would like, she returned with a comically large plate of appetizers. "H... Here," Her face was flushed as she handed the woman the plate. "I, uh... meant to ask what you like, but forgot... sorry..." She smiled sheepishly, looking down at her own plate of shrimp and other seafood.

Noticing the newcomers, she took a nervous step back and adjusted her shawl, again. "Oh, I didn't mean to interrupt..." She murmured quietly, looking uncomfortable.

Elizabeth nearly changed forms just from being nervous. She came close to doing so. She managed not to and gave a nod in return. She managed to tell them her name.
"....Elizabeth."

James McKnight had arrived at the mansion. He was greeted by Eric and had his suitcase dropped off at his room. Then, he went into the ballroom. He looked around. He stopped by the refreshment table, and happened to be near Elizabeth and company, and he grabbed a glass of blood champagne. He took a sip.

Brandon looks at the girl that arrived at the table with food and be bowed to her "good evening" he said to her

Kaliska watched between the two girls. "hello" she says to the new girl "im Kali" she says "my brother Brandon" she continued. she looked at elizabeth "have you been to balls before?" she asked curiously

James McKnight didn't meant to eavesdrop or anything. But, he had overheard them. He turned to look towards them.

Elizabeth blinked. She looked at Ari.
"oh, you came back."
She felt a little relived. Anyway, she nodded.
"It's...alright."
She glanced towards the other two.

kaliska watched them and looked past them to a man that seemed to be watching all of them. "anyone know who he is?" she asked the girls as she asked in a hushed tone.

Brandon followed her sisters'gaze to the guy standing near by. he took a few sips of his blood wine as he accessed him for danger.

John had arrived, via flying, his dragon-like wings making him both proficient in aqua and aerial combat and mobility. He landed down in a nice curve, making a running motion with his legs on the way down, making the fall less hurting, though his entrance was mostly one of flair. John had looked arrived where the entrance would be. His face is one similar to a squid, but his eyes would be darting around the crowd.

Elizabeth blinked. She glanced towards the guy. She looked back at them. She shook her head no.

James McKnight blinked. He frowned a bit and raised an eyebrow. He glanced away, sipping his drink. He tried not to listen in on what they were saying anymore. He did not say anything.

kalj looked at elizabeth and frowned a bit. "he is handsome isnt he" she said in more of an observation then a question. she looked back at elizabeth "where are you from?"she asked her. she wanted to make new friends it was rare she was allowed away from her home. even though her company wasnt talkative her nerves were easing a bit.

brandon gave a quick smile to his sister then looked at elizabeth. "miss Elizabeth care to have this dance with me?"he asked her as he held his hand for her to. take.

Eric was at the doorway. He spotted John when he arrived. He went to him and gave a bow of his head in greeting.
"Welcome. I'm Eric Edwards. Would you like to be shown to your room first? or would you like to head straight to the ballroom?"
He gave a faint smile.

Elizabeth nodded a bit.
"i…suppose."
Elizabeth blinked. She sighed a bit.
"Far away from here. It's mostly one species, with few others. It's a town near the mountains over by those lakes that turn red every few days."
She paused when she saw Brandon stand up. She blinked again and froze for a moment when he asked her for a dance. She hesitated. She did not know what to say.
"um...I...I suppose."
She stood up. She was hesitant before taking his hand.
