You’ve awaken in a small cave, illuminated faintly by strange crystals embedded into the walls and ceiling. You are not alone; among the others in this cave are strange looking creatures. As you try to gain your baring you notice something off about yourself; you are not longer human. Your features are different, you lack the attire you had worn before you blacked out. You don’t quite know what’s going on but you do understand one thing:
You have become a Pokémon.
Welcome to this Pokémon Isekai. I honestly can’t say I’ve really put much thought into this RP but as with all things I tend to do better once the ball gets rolling. So without further adieu let’s cover a few things.
Yes you were indeed human from a world where Pokémon did not physically exist, though your character may choose to know about them in some way via video games or whatever. The concept of an Isekai is also probably not unknown to you, so feel free to use either knowledge as you see fit. That being said,
This world is not 1-to-1 like it is in the games, anime, or the media per say. While it’s very similar to the mystery dungeon series (you play as Pokémon and the society is largely populated by Pokémon) don’t bother trying to correct me if something appears extremely bizarre if not impossible. That doesn’t mean you get to break all the rules established, just that the rules you know may not be the rules in which this world runs upon.
While most Isekai tend to go for darker interpretations of being dropped into a video game world or at least have the droppers use their somehow vast knowledge of science and such to jump start technological revolutions, this one will ideally be somewhat more lighthearted with slightly more cartoony physics, though that doesn’t mean there won’t be some bleak themes and sudden bursts of realism every now and again.
Lastly, and because I know it will eventually come up, death is a thing in this verse. Pokémon, much like regular animals, do prey upon each other and that typically means killing and eating them. I won’t spoil too much but just know if you’re a bug Pokémon walking through a birds nest, don’t be surprised if you don’t just faint.
Now onto the rules.
As always my word is Law. I carry the final say, even if I happen to be wrong. I’m always willing to discuss but if you can’t agree with me than you may wish to find greener pastures.
Respect and have some consideration for your fellow RPers, but of course this is a two-way street. Don’t insult, harass, or otherwise attack or bully someone just because you don’t agree with their behavior. At the same time however do understand that if your playstyle or attitude is causing problems, you’re probably the problem.
Keep me informed if for some reason you can’t post for an extended period of time, more so if you’re involved in a right high pace activity like fighting or collaborating with other PC’s. If needed we will move on without you, with all the consequence that would imply.
IC fighting will be inevitable in a Pokémon world, but as rule 2 states don’t fight OoC. I will have a separate section for how fighting, as well as stats and such, will be handled in a section below.
Obviously no metagaming, and for those who’ll enter this world with some Pokémon knowledge, this is especially important. As I mentioned before how this verse works is not exactly how things are in the games or show, and how they’re different you’ll need to find out IC.
You will all start at the lowest evolution of your given Pokémon line. Obviously no legendaries, and pseudo legendaries will be on a case-by-case basis. That is to say if I feel like I can trust you to play responsible I’ll let you. I’m okay if you want to start as a fossil Pokémon. If your choose of Pokémon has no evolutionary lines, I will allow depending on which you choose. If you want to be say, a ditto, go for it. If you want to be a Kangaskhan you’ll probably be the baby Kangaskhan. If you want to be something like a scyther, huwalucha, or generally any other Pokémon without an evolutionary line that typically looks full grown out of an egg, again these things will be on a case-by-case.
One character per player for now. I may allow additional characters if I feel it won’t disrupt the game too much.
More rules to be added as I see fit, keep abreast in the OoC got whenever I do an update.
Poké Profile
This is your character sheet, albeit in more ways than just one. Keeping somewhat like the games for the sake of simplicity, there are two Poké Profiles I want you to keep up with: You Portfolio and your Adventuring Log. Your Portfolio is your more traditional character sheet with your history, appearance, and so forth. Your Adventuring Log I want you to keep in each of your Ic post. Is much smaller but keeps important information such as your health, inventory, moves, status, and so forth. Examples are below.
Combat and Stats
Pokémon being a series based around monsters fighting, it’s inevitable that you’re going to fight and generally you’ll want to be the very best like no one ever was. And to do my best to alleviate the inevitable conflicts about fighting here’s how things will work.
First I’ll establish that yeah, generally speaking the power and accuracy of certain attacks will be based off the game in that an attack with 100 accuracy will generally always hit unless the target has an evasion boost or the attacker as an accuracy penalty. To that end if between two players I will allow them to determine out of their own will if an attack will hit or miss with factors like buffs/debuffs and their own personal decisions. If you want me to arbitrate a battle I will do so taking into consideration all stays at play, any mitigating circumstances, and possibly a dice roller. But the short of it is, if there isn’t any evasion buffs/accuracy debuffs, an attack with 100 accuracy will always hit. Anything less and the chances of it missing will increase proportionally to the attacks accuracy.
Stats will be based off your Pokémon species as well as your own IC efforts at training. And for those of you who think that you could somehow put out 300% more effort than everyone else and try to train every stat, congratulations you have Flat average stat growth. In this instance trying to do more will simply result in doing less than everything so it all evens up. Being a Jack of Stats isn’t a bad deal but don’t expect to become a master of all. And to that end pick your training carefully as there’s no way to reverse it reallocate your stats after the fact. Additionally don’t expect your growth to be immediately noticeable; spending all night fighting geodudes won’t make you a defense king in one day.
