I'm sorry to inform everyone that this problem is persisting. I can't figure out what to make my character do, right now... it may be best to skip me, this round.

Ha ha, and I've brought this RP back to life! Sorry for the long wait folks. If you all want we can just timeskip over to the next day, or you all can spend some time talking among each other. I'm good for either way.

Just going to say this everywhere where it's applicable... I got a new game, so I probably won't post today.

Hey guys I did a thing. So for the sake of expediency, feel free to sorta zoom pass this meditative part. Right now it's early morning, so by around lunch time you guys would get the hang of "emptying your mind". That is to say, you're able to focus on a single thing instead of letting your surroundings distract you. Once you get to this stage you'll manifest your hidden power. Feel free to choose any element for your hidden power except normal. As far as it's stats, we're using the most recent gen so it has a base power of 60, base accuracy of 100, and it's a special attack.

I'm sure you'll have questions and such IC, and I imagine for all of you, it won't come easily or naturally. So feel free to ping me here for IC questions and comments and I'll respond IC using Seraph. She'll also drop some more lore about how moves and such work in this verse.

Edit:

And one more thing, for those of you lacking hand-like appendages, when you finally manifest your Hidden Power the orb usually materializes somewhere around your forehead. For anyone else with arms or similar things, they tend to materialize between your hands. Once you get a better grasp on using special attacks you can manifest them from different areas, such as one hand, from your mouth, etc.

@Lucius Cypher I'm assuming you mean we should ask our questions here, just in case they are in the IC as well but you don't have to answer them in both.

Before Nathan tried emptying his mind he asked the Kirlia the first two questions that popped into his head knowing they would be bugging him too much otherwise. "Does having Hidden Power help you learn moves of the same type it is? How about ranged moved in general?"

Two and a half hours later. "Hey Seraph do you have any tips on how to launch the orb without hands?"

@Duthguy

So IC this are her responses:

"No and yes. Hidden power doesn't really help you learn moves that you normally aren't capable of. Even though my hidden power is a water element, that doesn't mean I'll be able to shoot water from my hands or something like that. That being said, the very basics of how Hidden Power helps with your general elemental powers. You see, every pokemon is, in some way or form, capable of a sort of quasi psychic power. Now most tend to rely on their bodies natural attributes, for example that charmander over there wouldn't need any of this training if all he wants to do is breath fire from his body. But if he wants to say, fire a solar beam, he would need to understand these basics you're learning right now, to clear his mind and envision the elemental power he's trying to call forth. You can't build a house without first starting with foundation after all."
Seraph

"Well first you need to focus on the target, guide it with your eyes. It's harder than it sounds; just one errant glance will cause your orb to go off course. Honestly, using your hands to guide your attacks is a bit of a crutch, since anything that blocks your hands would also block your attack. If you just use your eyes though, as long as you can keep track of your target it should work out. Also pratice."

I was planning on going after a few other responses, since my IC character doesn't know anything and would likely wait for others to ask the questions.

@Lugia

How about electricity? That way if you go up against any flying or water types you have a move for them. Ice is also a good one if you need to deal with ground, dragons, and for some reason grass types though you cover that with fire anyways. Straight up dragon element is a bit cliche for charmander lines but it's decent too, so long as you're not up against any faeries. Ice is pretty much the only other thing dragon would be weak against and I don't imagine a Charmander will have any issue with ice pokemon.

@SleepingSilence

Do what you gotta do matey. Don't be afraid to ask your own questions considering that IC your dude really doesn't know, so it would behoove him to find out. unless you're the type of guy who lets other people do the learning for em, as I said you do you.

Well, I know which ones would be GOOD, the main answers being ice, ground, and grass (though grass is often replaced with Solar Beam)... I'm just not sure which one I should have Trevor have, lol.

I'm literally gonna do a random number generator to choose mine. It seems more true to how it would go in the games, and it's kinda fun to not have total control ^_^

@Lugia What Zav says is true, while I'm giving you the option to choose it's suppose to be "random". If you meant something that would fit Trevor's personality I'd actually say Bug. Sort of weird, not really immediately useful, but at the same time surprisingly powerful when you least expect it. Mechanically speaking, Bug type is useful against Dark and Psychic, and based on your backstory Trevor did somehow manage to go ape on some bullies (Typically dark types) and is actually smart enough to go college (smart people stuff aka Psychic). Just as well right now Trevor might seem like he's kind of out of it, but when the going gets tough or they face off against a read bad guy, he'll have the chops to do some serious damage.

T__T RNG was so good! Granted, it landed on a not super useful type... But, character development! Turns out Jeri's anger was her strength, not a weakness, the whole time. Now she just has to figure out how to use her anger better. T_T T_T <3 I wuv my jerk Dunsparce.

I'm also excited to see everyone else's hidden powers c:

Feel free to go ahead and just figure it out, my next post will be assuming everyone has gotten the hang of calling forth and shooting their Hidden power.

@Evanist

Go with what you feel is best. Grass isn't too bad. It's gentle, soft, but occasionally prickly with thorns if you don't see it coming. I could also make a case for Fighting, since that's the "heroic and brave" pokemon element, and you did go 8v1 against those murkrows. If it wasn't for the fact that certain moves act differently in this verse than they do in game, that sing move wouldn't have been nearly as effective.
