The teleporation glyph glowed with a gentle blue light, and Mede Artus, Chief Custodian, admired the glow. No matter how many times he operated it, the entrance glyph to the school was a thing of wonders - all the more reason to admire the Headmaster, who constructed it. Normally, knowing how to operate a glyph meant that you would know how to reconstruct it. This was especially true when the one studying it was a Master such as himself, but after thirteen years of working on it, he was still no closer to figuring out how it was made. The whole thing was so complex, with facets hidden within facets, and yet, it still allowed for even an Novice to be able to operate it - so long as they were given the proper tools.

Finished with his admiration, Mede stepped back, and stretched. The new semester was starting and that meant new blood would be rushing in again, though he wondered if it would replace the amount lost. Every year the teachers made bets - would there be more or less students than last year? Mede himself bet on more this time. Last year, relatively few dropped out and there were no graduations either. So unless a startling number of people declined their invitation to the university, they would probably see a decrease in the number of available dorm rooms.

Once the students arrived, that meant the opening ceremony had officially begun. Which also meant that breakfast was being served. Mede grinned. There was nothing - nothing - better in the school than breakfast. It was the Headmasters creed, no, demand that every day began with a good meal. And by every god, were the meals good. It was also another reason why students were brought here at 12 am. So they wouldn't have a chance to eat yet, and by the time the opening ceremony concluded at 2, they would be practically starving.

Of course, that made the breakfast served all the more savory. The Headmaster was a cunning bastard he was.

He looked at his watch. The spring equinox was almost here. Soon, students would appear on the glyph, and hopefully, they skipped breakfast.

With a whoosh and a kling, Zane appeared in the middle of the runic array. He nervously laughed a little at the involuntary death glare the chief custodian sent his way. The squid wasn't even entirely his fault, not his problem the masters mistook it for an eldritch abomination from the dungeon dimensions. Though that might have been because it was bright yellow...

Torn from his musings, he pulled a collapsable chair from his bag and sat down to watch the others flash in. Hopefully there were some people to make this year a bit more interesting. Freya was fun, but she still hadn't forgiven him for turning her neon pink. The fact that she was lucky the half finished device didn't detonate explosively was lost in her indiscriminate rage. Speaking of which...

He pulled out a pair of novelty glasses with fake nose and moustache. Perfect disguise.

Freya had not skipped breakfast.

The headmaster was a psychopath and Freya was not falling for that trick again. After all - you didn’t attend the university for ten years without getting wise to the old bastards tricks. She remembered distinctly her first year officially attending as a student - stomach rumbling, clutching Master Royle’s hand and practically quaking with terror, she’d been told they’d get a good meal once they arrived. What she had not been told, was that they’d have to wait two hours to get it because ‘It tastes better when your hungry!’.

Madness.

The familiar tingle of teleportation magic skittered across her skin. Almost time. She gripped her worn out backpack tightly, she wasn’t making that mistake again. She was ready for this though, nothing was going to stop her this year. A summer spent travelling, meeting with some of the most knowledgeable (and consequently, most eccentric) void masters around the world, and she felt that maybe, just maybe she might be onto something.

She crossed her fingers and screwed up her eyes, “This is gonna be the year,” she whispered to herself, not really caring if the other people in the small french cafe had started staring at the girl stood, surrounded on all sides by slowly gathering green light, “I’m bringing you home, Master Royle!”

A familiar rushing sensation, like being swept away by a wave, or falling, only forever. And then... ground beneath her feet.

She was home.

She opened her eyes slowly, looked up instinctively, only to remember that he wasn’t there. He would be next time. She was never arriving on that glyph alone again. She shook away the thought, and cast her eye about the arrival glyph, wondering who was already here.

Her temper flared. Him. And what the fudge was he wearing on his face? He wouldn’t be wearing them for long, not is she had anything to say about it, anyway, “Oy! Twerp! We’ve got business to discuss!” she yelled, before stalking angrily towards him.

"Make some friends, Lio."

That was the last thing Liors had heard before she appeared in the university. She stumbled forwards, still not quite used to the strange sensation, clutching her bags tightly to her chest. Did her sister put anything more in them? They felt really heavy, or maybe that was just the nerves setting in. As she moved off the glyph, she glanced around at the other students who had arrived. Some she recognized, others she didn't. She recited her room number in her head, glancing occasionally at the neat cursive on her hand where it was written. The ink from her spirit pen would fade in about two hours. From now until the end of the opening ceremony. It should last.

Everything was going well, up until a girl with white hair - Freya - approached a boy who'd joined the same year as Liors, Zane if she'd remembered correctly. What a pain, and then she laughed from the rhyme and then she didn't laugh because that looked like a disaster waiting to happen. She made a silent prayer to whatever high power there was, don't put me in a room with either of them, please. Calm, peaceful people. That sounded a lot nicer.

She wasn't here to cause trouble. She wasn't really here to talk to anyone in the first place, if she was honest. Though, as she traced silver letters on silk, 'make some friends' played vividly in her mind. She had to now, didn't she? Would she even be able to? Everyone here was a little intense, but most of them weren't too bad. Yeah, she could manage. Despite the fact that a fight was painfully close to starting right in front of her, Liors was having an ok day.

She pulled out a beanbag from the air, which she promptly sat on. Everything would be fine! All she needed to do was the same thing she the previous year, maybe with more talking to people. She could do that, right? But for the time being, it was just her, the beanbag, and a breakfast she couldn't wait for.

Of course, at that exact moment Nicholas emerged from the glyph in front of her. With him, he brought two large luggages (big one for clothes, bigger one for alchemy equipment) and the smell of Jasmine.

"It's nice to see you again too, Ms. Royle." He said, smiling softly as he regarded her with his bright blue eyes. A bit of an eccentric even by academy standards, Nicholas was as always looking gorgeous. His golden-blonde hair was shiny and perfectly kept, and his peach-coloured skin was free of blemishes. While other students had lived much of their lives in the 'normal' world, Nicholas had been raised and largely influenced by other wizards. He was thus definitely rocking the sorcerer chic. He wore a checkered pink cloak over his white dress shirt, and a pair of black slacks around his hips.

"Zane, I love the accessory choice." He said. Nick was of course wearing earrings and a necklace, both made of the same bright-blue crystalline material. He was not being sarcastic. He noticed a black-haired girl in a beanbag chair.

"I don't think I've seen you before. Are you new here?" He asked Liors, smiling warmly. He was by nature friendly, and liked helping shy people out. That, or he was planning on playing a trick on her. Maybe both.

“Alrighty Rhea, here we go. This year’s gonna be interesting for sure, I can feel it in my bones. Just a moment longer aaaand-” her sentence was cut short as her portal trip ended, leaving her before the entrance of the University, where many other students stood. She made note of a few other people around her, all of whom looked very interesting. She smiled to herself and lightly clapped her hands together, already excited for the interactions that were to come and the new people she would meet. Of course, she didn’t come to the university to only study magic. Who did that anymore?

Walking off of of the glyph and further to the entrance, she pulled her hair into a ponytail as she casually scanned the area, already looking for someone to talk, partially because she was lowkey lonely, leaving all of her other friends behind. The dude with the disguise looked pretty interesting, but he looked rather occupied as another person approached him and she looked upset, so instead, Rhea made her way to the other group, who, hopefully, had more promise.

“Heyo!” She greeted them with a small smile. “I’m Rhea,” she introduced herself, and upon seeing the guy she stood next to, she went on saying, “and you’re pretty,” Rhea pointed at him before moving to the girl sitting in a beanbag. “You are too!” She paused for a slight moment, adding, "Just wanted to say that."

Bouncing from foot to foot Aeries had gone over her school supplies about a hundred times in the past several hours, She had been packed and ready to go for the past week. She felt the excitement welling up inside her as the minutes ticked away, she would finally get to study magic in earnest. She had received her power ranking several days telling her she was a Journeyman, she had no idea what this meant, nor if there were more powerful magic users in her class. She was eager to find out and to actually get to the university, to see what other powers were out there. Her studies lead her to find the different archetypes and their powers, or well those that were documented. She checked her pocket watch again the second hand was slowly creeping towards midnight and she was expecting a teleport to the school, she had no idea how this worked or what it would do but it sounded fun.

She felt the power welling up around her and grabbed hold of her bag with her supplies as the magic reached its peak she found herself falling through infinite darkness, it was unique, and kind of terrifying. However, before panic had time to set in her feet hit solid ground and the darkness gave way to people and noise, it was almost a shock from the quiet of her bedroom to this. Looking around there were already what seemed to be groups pairing up, she wondered what their powers were, what their ranks were and also about her roommates.
"Hi I'm Aeries!" she would call out introducing herself to everyone at once, her bubbly attitude passing into her town as she smiled and attempted to wave to everyone.

"I already told you the paternity ritual said the kid wasn't mine! Find the other schmuck you threatened persuaded to sleep with you!" Zane yelled. It was always a good idea to enrage an opponent so they made poorer decisions. Admittedly this hypothesis hadn't been thoroughly tested against the hellian known as Freya.

Quickly boosting his leg strength, he jumped behind the loud new girl, using her as a meat shield. There were rules against killing firsties, he was pretty sure. If not, their unknown magic would make her pause... for all of five seconds before she used her evil black magics to prevent that being a problem. Mentally apologising to the poor sacrifice, he put more shields between him and the White Death, before finally remembering Nick.

He did like Nick, even if the guy was more obsessed with his appearance than Aphrodite. They shared a love of invention... and screwing with other people. Giving a sigh, he reminisced on the 'Week of Hell' as his yearmates dubbed it. He sniggered as a cruel, cruel thought passed into his mind.

"Nick my friend, what do you say we give the firsties a proper initiation to BUM... assuming I survive the White Death's advances?"

The teleportation glyph shone with life as Mede threw open the barrier between it and the school, ushering hundreds of new students inside. The ages between them were varied; others were old enough to be adults, others were barely looked past seven. Still, all of them looked around in wonder as they were met with the sight of the schools entrance: A large marble arc with all sorts of figures carved into it. The fairies that usually roamed around the school had gathered, creating a brilliant display of light, while the familiars of older students joined in. One student had flown above them riding a giant pigeon.

"So welcome everyone! Oh, and please don't form contracts with the fairies, or they'll all start asking for one. Anyway, while I'd like to officially welcome you to the university, that's not my job! So instead, I'd like to call on the man who's job that is. Headmaster sir, if you'd please?" said Mede, gesturing the man, who'd just landed in from the sky.

"Thank you for that, Mede. First up, I'd like to thank you for coming. It does my heart joy to see new students walk through that portal. Secondly, I can see some of you trying to form a contract with the fairies. I advise you to reconsider - trust me, you will not be able to pay their price, and thirdly, for the new students, I think I'll continue this introductory speech on the train."

Question marks popped up as the new students looked around for any sign of a train. With the light brightening the area made it clear that while grandiose, the area they were in was a train station, they didn't see any sign of a train.

Suddenly, a powerful wind blew towards them, nearly blowing away the fairies and causing a few students to trip. All of a sudden, a gigantic silver-and-black train had appeared right behind the Headmaster.

"That would be so much more exciting, don't you think?" said the Headmaster with a slight smile.

The rest of the ceremony would occur on the train, finally stopping at the Communal Mess Hall, where a large feast of a breakfast was being prepared. For the older students, they were free to do as they wished while the orientation was ongoing.

Aeries couldn't help but take in all the sites, and the guy that was suddenly standing behind her as if trying to hide, she let a small smile cross on her face that anyone seeing it would show she was upto something and next second as far as those within 6 feet of her could see she was now on the other side of everyone checking out a brightly colored creature, small and humanoid it was fascinating to her.
Forgetting all about the boy that she had just used her time magic to get away from she was about to talk to the creature that seemed to be beckoning her when suddenly a man began talking and she turned to pay attention.
'Train? what train?' she thought looking around at the train station the had appeared at, interested she spun on the spot and was about to vocalize her question when a gust of wind actually knocked her clean from her feet and slammed her into the ground. Any that were watching the small girl would see her hit the ground hard and then she was back on her feet as if she hadn't hit the ground at all bouncing on her feet again.

"Do you have everything you need, Viola?" The large, dark hallways of the Fiore estate were cold in the midnight air. Not even the large fireplaces that usually warmed the ancient halls could keep all areas of the ancient Gothic estate warm entirely. Not that either of them minded. They both rather enjoyed cooler temperatures, after all. If anything, Livia couldn't handle heat well.

"Hm? Of course, mistress." The small girl giggled as she sat the teacup back on the saucer in front of her. The dining room was a large place, definitely built to house more than three people at dinner time. The place didn't seem to have electricity, or if it did it wasn't in use. The only source of light was from the fire place and a set of large chandeliers. "Same as last year, no? And don't worry. Finding a friendly little Sylph or Undine to play with shan't be difficult, hehe. Who knows...maybe I'll find a cute little devil willing to be my playmate." She leaned back in her chair, smirking idly to herself.

"Ah?~" Livia hummed. "I would hope so or you'd be a failure of a student." She chuckled to herself from across the table, bringing her own teacup to her lips. "You played around too much last year, you know. You should already be much further along in your studies...though your carefree attitude is admirable."

"Oh my. Is the ever so great Mistress Fiore complimenting me? You should tell me how great I am more, hehe. Maybe give me a pat on the head~" Viola impishly giggled as she stood from the seat. The silverware and tea set on it, starting to float ever so lightly before seemingly carrying themselves off to the kitchen.

"Giving credit where it's due is only right." She replied, taking a sip of the tea. "Regardless, I expect you to be much further along by the end of the year." She sat the teacup down, giving Viola a cool gaze. "Or we will have problems. Understand, dear?"

"Tsk, so little faith in me, Mistress."

"Faith, is for short lived humans who lack the conviction to do things themselves." She took another sip of the tea. "Transient I am not and Conviction is something I have in droves, lest you forget."

"So serious, as always." Viola giggled. "Ah, but don't worry, Mistress. I shan't disappoint you...I aim to please, after all." Livia simply smiled, passing the tea to a silver-haired servant.

"Dismissed then, dear." She said, waving the small girl away. "Cynthia, show Viola out. Being late would be rude to those insufferable mages." The servant bowed, before walking out of the dining room, her footsteps echoing off of the tiled dining room floor. As she left, Livia simply rest her elbows on the table, folding her hands together as she rest her chin on the back of her hands. "I shall be in the labs when you return."

...how troublesome.

Blue light flashed, the teleportation Glyph lighting up in a pleasing display of arcane energy as new students shuffled in. Viola was no different, though it was her second year here so she wasn't quite so caught up on how it worked. It was beyond her current understanding anyways - though in time she would put effort into figuring it out. Curiosity, or just a lust for knowledge in general was one of the major driving factors of her even attending this school when she could simply learn all she wanted too from the Fiore Estates libraries and dungeons.

Of course, she supposed if she didn't then she'd never be able to get rid of her teacher then, would she? If she only learned from her, then she would know everything she was capable of, fufu. Mistress Fiore was as paranoid as she was powerful.

All in due time.

Viola stepped off the glyph, her suitcases of luggage floating unsteadily behind her. To say she had a lot, was an understatement. It seemed she planned on decorating her dorm entirely to her liking, if the carpets and large number of suit cases she had with her was an indication. It was likely giving a few of the students who didn't know her a bit of a startle, especially if they got near them. No magic seemed to be holding them, and she didn't seem to be commanding them directly. Of course, those in tune with undead and the more spiritual natures of the world would realize quickly she had a small army of small, though mostly harmless spirits following her and doing most of the lifting.

She took note of a few people harassing the first years.

"Haaa, some people have no class." Viola mused, smirking silently. "At least wait until the people get properly settled." As the orientation began for the first years, Viola headed elsewhere - towards the dorms, luggage floating behind her.

"Ahh...another year another waste of time." She dearly wished to get there before her roommates did. Better to ask forgiveness than permission after all, heh!

Freya scoffed. Of course the twerp was hiding behind a firstie. She wasn’t sure why he thought that would help him.

She bared a sit of pristine white teeth at his barb, “Don’t flatter yourself,” she said flatly, crushing the burning rage in favour of a more toned down (and terrifying) visage as she she stalked forward. She smirked as the tiny first year got out of the way.

She raised a hand in a twisting, arcane looking gesture as, at the same time, she mentally reached inside herself, a feeling as natural by now as breathing, she reached for the nothing in everything, the silence between the words, the stillness between the motions.

A cool smile as the temperature on the glyph dropped a few degrees. The hand motion was just for show of course, but it usually managed to get the less experienced students quaking in their boots. Zane was used to the trick by now, but still, never hurt to show off.

She moved, leaning over and gripping his shoulder with her sharp, manicured black fingernails so that her lips were a hair’s breadth away from his ear, “I think we both know that I don’t have to force anyone to do anything in that department,” unfortunately. Freya knew she was hot, and most of the time, operated on the motto of ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’. Unfortunately, a good percentage of the guys at BUM had failed to notice she was a raging lesbian. Apparently the ‘I like pussy’ comments hadn’t been enough.

She stepped away, giving him a wink, before heading towards the dorms, “I hope you remembered a coat Zane, I heard this year’s gonna get chilly.”

Internally, Liors was screaming. Very loud, very panicked, ready to run for her life.

Externally, she did nothing for a good minute. She didn't even reply, and she sat there, gaping, until she uttered her reply.

"Ah," and after another despairingly long pause, "T-thank you! Of course, um, you're pretty too! And, um, he is too! That's, that's a... it's a thing."

Words. Yes, those were a thing that existed, and they were not doing what they were supposed to. Liors brought her hands up to her chest protectively, fiddling with the ring on her left hand. Breathe in, breathe out. It really didn't help, but at least she could say that she tried.

"My name is, it's Liors. Myrisal, um, Liors Myrisal. I'm not new, I'm, actually a second year..." she said, trailing off. This talking thing was difficult. "You probably haven't, uh, seen me or anything. But, I play music in the gardens. Um, sometimes. Might have heard it?"

It was now possible to get second-hand embarrassment from yourself, as discovered by Liors as she cringed mentally. She'd probably already messed something up, but at least the school had a lot of other students. She could just avoid the two of them until the end of time if everything went south, she was doing that anyway.

"Oh god. Um, names, what are your names?" she hastily added. That was something she was supposed to ask. She already knew them, it would be kind of weird to say so. At least she'd gotten something right.

The first thing that came to Rhea's mind was: "Oh my God, she's adorable."

A large smile had already plastered itself on her face as she listened intently, already eager to become her best friend, as was her goal most of the time. By this point in time, Rhea had made up her mind in the five seconds that they knew each other; they were going to be close friends, despite what she said. She had a habit of deciding these things quickly, but it usually always had a good outcome, so she always wondered, "Why the hell not?"

Moving a tad closer, Rhea sat down next to her, Liors, as she had mentioned, and drew her knees up to her chest. "I love your name, it's very nice. And unique, I like that. Y'know, I would love it even more if we were friends, and then we both wouldn't be lonely and we would both have someone to talk to: each other! Oh! And yes, I believe that I have heard your music! I always admire it when I'm out there painting," Rhea replied somewhat in a forceful manner, and knowing that she was coming off a bit strong, but that was something that she was good at.

"But again, I'm Rhea, and I hope that we can be friends in the near, or now, which would be even better, future," she ended casually. Hopefully things would go well, and if not, then that's just too bad. For her anyway.

Zane sighed at Freya's childish need for dramatics. Honestly, it was like she wanted him to prank her. Being used to her effect on fellow students, he pulled out a spray bottle and splashed the more comotose firsties in the face to wake them up.

Fleeing from the angered students, he made his way to the dorms... until he remembered Freya had headed in that direction. Yeah, not a good idea right now. Boosting his leg stength and his overall agility, he proceeded to parkour his way towards the garden. He noted Nicky boy and the residant artist talking to thin air. Focusing a bit more he noticed there was actually another person there. Gods above that girl had such little presence.

An evil smirk came across his face as he silently moved through the trees. Finally reaching behind the invisible girl, he dropped down, hanging by his legs.

"Hey kids, you wanna see a dead body?" Zane yelled, an evil grin plastered across his face.

Carmen looked in the mirror. She took a deep breath and started cutting watching the big blue and pink huge curls fall to the floor. In just 30 minutes she was done. She looked at the spiky-curly pixie cut she had given herself. She had gone her whole life with the same cut but that was over. She admires it for a moment then looked at the time **** she was gonna be late. She hurried to pick up her suitcase and pull on a black hoodie before running downstairs. She stopped at the door and turned back “bye mom and dad! I’m off to that boarding school I talked about. The engineering ome!” She waited for a response
“Ok bye! See you next year!” Her mom responded with her dad following shirt behind with an even shorter response “bye!” She shrugged it off, they never cared anyway. She ran out the door to see the people who actually did care.
She ran To and old alleyway andclimbed up the fire escapes till she reached the roof and hauled herself up. There she found her friends, the people who had actually cared about her. After some much better goodbyes she took out the teleportation thingy “bye” she said and suddenly they were gone.
This new place was… weird. She found herself in a crowd of people. She immediately went invisible and stuffed her hands into her pockets and walked to where everybody else seemed to be going. She looked around at the people, some of them looked weird, acted weird, and dressed weird. She looked down at the ground and a girl walked right into her knocking her down to the ground @the lost dae she became non invisible and looked up at the girl furious “HEY! Watch where you’re…” then she realized she had been invisible. She broke the eye contact and looked off to the side and grumbled “oh. Sorry that was my fault”

'Did I just?' she thought to herself as she felt something hit her body, she was a second from reversing time again when a girl appeared in front of her, on the ground. 'where did she come from, was she invisible? that's soooo cool!!' she thought to herself staring at the girl and not even noticing that she had told her to watch where she was going, not that she could have seen the girl if she had wanted to. She heard the girl say something about fault and smiled sweetly offering her hand.
"Oh Hey, sorry, I just blanked, were you invisible? how do you do that? What are your other powers, oh-oh, I'm Aeries, yeah like the greek god, what's your name?" she all but rambled to the girl on the ground.
She was so excited to see someone else that had used their powers, she had used hers twice already, not that she expected anyone to have noticed as she was affecting time itself and well that often went unnoticed. she would bounce from foot to foot as she waited for the girl to accept her hand, and hopefully, answer the barrage of questions that she had slamming into her head.

She looked up confused cocking one eyebrow skeptically and took her hand and got up. It took her a couple seconds to get herself together then she looked at the girl. “I’m Carmen. I turned invisible. How bout you tell me your powers before I tell you what the ‘el mine are?” This girl was confusing but hadn’t crossed the border into annoying. She could handle this girl, at least it face her something to do. She thought about something she had heard the girl say “wait. There’s a train?”

Making her way through the students, Viola spun her parasol lightly in her hands as she walked to the dorms. So lively. It was always amusing watching other students and what they got up too. Someone shouted something about a dead body, making her laugh. If whoever it was thought a dead body was shocking he really needed a lesson in the macabre and shock. Bodies were a dime a dozen and any mage worth their talent would never be scared of one.

But of course, she didn't say anything. She had better things to do at the moment.

Soon enough, the young girl reached her dorm. Room 27-A. She had already had a few of the poltergeists following her around collect some information on it, namely her roommates. The only one that remotely interested her was the one by the name of Meriun Hazy. Someone she could indeed get a bit cozy with. She had heard rumors and talk of course, but for the most part Viola didn't buy them. Humans were scum, after all.

She hated every single one of them.

Walking up to the dorm building, a trail of dozens of suitcases and other items following behind her, Viola shoved through the crowd earning a few annoyed and surprised shouts as she had the poltergeists shove a few people out of the way with her suitcases. From there it wasn't too difficult to find her dorm. Once there, she didn't even bother knocking and simply waltzed in as though she owned the place.

"The decor in the place is drab as usual..." Viola sighed, frowning lightly as she entered. "Alright then...well you all know what to do. Biggest room. Decorate it." Turning to the dorm proper as her suitcases were carried off in the direction of the nearest unoccupied room, Viola observed it quietly before calling out. "Are any of my gracious roommates here already perchance?"

Aeries would nod excitedly about the train that seemed to materialize on its own.
"Weren't you listening, it's orientation and we get to ride on a cool train that just woosh, and was here" she seemed so excited about it. "Oh my magic is time, I can do some stuff, and just woosh done, and back and stuffs" she makes some exaggerated hand gestures after helping the girl to her feet. "I'm gonna go find a good seat and wait for orientation," and no sooner had the words left her mouth than she was gone, she had slowed time around her again and ran to the train climbing on and searching for a good window seat near the front, it would cost her a minute of her time slow but she doubted she would need her time slow for anything too important on their first day so she was fine with using it for this.
