Fate/Counter Force
The Church's Burial Agency has had one of their sealing chambers ransacked under the cover of an earthquake and a powerful vampire, a Dead Apostle Ancestor has been unleashed upon the world once again. The church has given her the title Echidna, Mother of Monsters. This powerful vampire has been sealed for thousands of years and if left alone has the power to wipe out humanity. The burial agency is already on the case but due to the vampire's unique nature of being able to 'birth' offspring such as phantasmal beasts, they are having great difficulty in recapturing Echidna. Realizing they need more firepower the church has grudgingly reached out to the Mage's Association for assistance in their war.
Knowing that such a powerful being left on the loose could devastate the world, The Mage's Association has decided to lend their aid. Considering the threat is credible enough to bring about the end of humanity, the Mage's Association has realized that the counter force should come into play because of this threat, but instead of just letting it work it's way naturally the Mage's Association has decided to try and tap into the Counter Force to control it themselves. Their hope is that they can limit the amount of damage and exposure a 'natural disaster' might cause by wielding the scalpel themselves.
The Mage Association intercepts the counter guardians with a ritual of their own and summons them as servants to do battle with the Dead Apostle Ancestor and her forces. At the moment the church has tracked the Dead Apostle Ancestor to southern France where they believe she has started to rebuild her strength.
Basic Knowledge You Should Know
- Playable characters are Mages, Church members, and Counter Guardians/Servants
- While the Counter Guardians are contracted as servants as this is not a Grail War all servants regardless of class have independent action as a skill. Basically they can act independently.
- Those given servants have the traditional command seals to help them control the counter guardians.
- Only three servants are available as there is not enough magic to sustain any more than that.
- Servants with a Divine spirit origin, such as gods [ex. Artemis] and half-gods [ex. Gilgamesh] are not summonable.
- Don't worry if you are not too familiar with the Nasuverse as a whole, the thing's a jumbled mess anyway so just think of it as Fate but with Vampires.
- This will be a PvE roleplay, though PvP could occur if desired among individuals but PvE will always take priority.
- A Dead Apostle Ancestor is a powerful vampire that often has its own cult following. The 'servants' of such a vampire can be familiars, dead apostles[vampires], the dead, and in this particular case, magical beasts and phantasmal beasts.
- While the church is great at handling the undead, because most of their equipment is better suited for holy warfare they are having trouble with the magical and phantasmal beast. As some phantasmals are simply too strong to be killed normally, servant's noble phantasms or powerful artifacts are often needed to finish the job.
- Blood and gore will be present in this role play so fair warning beforehand.
Battle ~Flow~ System
In order to help you create more intuitive fighting scenes I will be using what I call the Battle ~Flow~ System. When a battle commences I will instruct you as to how the battle should proceed. Usually I'll try to put up the combatants, particular skills of the enemy you need to know about that you can incorporate into the fight, and what kind of a fight should happen. If it is a bunch of weaklings I might designate them fodder and just allow you guys to wreck them, but maybe there is a strong enemy among them that is an actual challenge, so I'll designate them as a challenge, so you'll need to write a decent fight when you are engaged in combat.
So there are three main criteria that will dictate how a fight should go, difficulty of the opponent, the 'phase' of a fight, and fight length.
Opponent Difficulty:
Fodder - Enemies that even weak mages should be able to defeat without too much effort.
Challenge - Opponents that can put up a decent fight and you'll actually have to work to defeat and be careful around.
Deadly Monster - These high level threats usually have some nasty skills, such as mystic eyes, that could easily kill you if you are not careful, you will have to fight for your lives to just survive.
Evil Boss - These cheap devils have myself directing their moves and can cause havoc with devastating skills and at times can be downright unkillable if certain conditions haven't been met.
Fight Phases:
Beginning - The fight has just started, start trashing those fodder and get prepared for the harder opponents.
Middle - The fight is getting quite intense, blows are going back and forth and the tide is turning in one direction or the other. The threat level is usually the highest at this point in the fight and the writing should reflect that.
Climax - The end of the fight has come one way or the other, perhaps a massive upset, maybe the opponent manages to sneak away, or maybe the final strike is struck against the foe, perhaps you are even forced to retreat just to survive. Either try to figure out who gets to finish the fight or I'll just choose depending on how the fight went.
Fight Lengths: If it happens to be an individual fight you just take out the per person part.
Short - 1 to 2 posts per person, pretty much just beginning and ending phases in the fight, or even just the ending phase.
Medium - 3 to 5 posts per person, will follow the Fight Phases up above.
Epic - Usually reserved for the toughest of battles and story sequences there is no real cap for these so can last for quite a while. Follows the battle flow system very closely.
