THE TRIDENT FOR NAUTRIAS
“We may brave human laws, but we cannot resist natural ones.”
― Jules Verne, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Nautrias was once a quiet paradise, glowing like a peaceful flower in the garden of the cosmos. Now, she is relentless and unforgiving. Her petals are slowly plucked by off-world corporations, privateers, and marauders. Despite the United Star Sector's attempts to police Nautrias, the ocean planet falls outside of their jurisdiction. The ruling species of the planet, the Droquilian, have claimed sovereignty from all off-world governing bodies. No one knows Nautrias like its own. Therefore, an outsider's rule with no droquilian voice among their senate has no say in Nautrias affairs. This attitude was heavily influenced by The Obsidian's Hand, a powerful corporation who promised a lucrative partnership in return for their loyalty.
Because of their greed and short-sighted hubris, the droquilians shook Obsidian's Hand, essentially handing over the keys to their domain. Twenty years later, the flood gates remain open for free enterprise, inviting any and all who wish to gut Nautrias of its riches ― for a significant fee, of course. The Obsidian’s presence on Nautrias is overwhelmingly insistent. Whether droning on the surface with their oil rigs, or mining down below with their underwater cities, they've built a home for themselves.
Yet, as they dive deeper into the abyss, the droquilian fear they'll discover what their ancestors tried to keep hidden since the dawn of their species...
A large droquilian contingent of anti-Obsidian outliers came to the United Star Sector for help. Through a political power play, a droquilian was inducted into the USS Senate within a matter of years. This allowed the USS the wiggle room necessary to operate within Nautrias territory. It also caused a civil war between the droquilian, igniting the seas into chaos.
We stare into mayhem from the plank, ready to dive feet first into Nautrias' maelstrom, to rid this planet from its corruption. We are The Trident, arbiters of the balance, and we will free Nautrias once and for all from Obsidian's grasp...

Hello everyone.
As you've read above, we are part of The Trident, an active force representing the United Star Sector & Droquilian Coalition. Our objective is to police the friendly waters of our native allies, stop illegal drilling, hunting, and resource-gathering, from anyone ― especially from the Obsidian's Hand ― by any means necessary. Expect high action, drama, horror, and a fun time underwater!
Please keep in mind that I'll be looking for the following:

This is an easy one. We're all here to have fun, so any negative comments or attitudes expressed in OOC won't be tolerated.
- At least 2 paragraphs -
Posts will need to have enough on them for players to work with. Decent grammar and punctuation.
- Smedium-sized Group -
6-7 players max, including myself. If you don't get accepted though, don't worry! There will be an opportunity to join again.
- NO GOD MODE (KINDA) -
I’d like to to let everyone loose in small excursions against regular bad guys, but special events that usually drive the story will have posts that say: GOD MODE OFF. When that happens, you’re not allowed to execute an action and state the consequence, just the action. For example:
Regular action post: Aquaman throws Trident at Lagoon Creature, making it explode upon impact!
GOD MODE OFF post: Aquaman throws Trident at Lagoon Creature, hoping that if he hits his target, it’ll decapitate the monster for good.
GM REPLY: Aquaman’s Trident successfully lances the Lagoon Creature, however it doesn’t explode, it gets even more pissed off and turns SUPER SAIYAN LAGOON CREATURE BLUE!
*PM me for questions about this mechanic.
- Dependability -
I completely understand how RL can be. That being said, it's unfair for your fellow players if you outright leave without saying a word. I'm looking for long term players for sure, but most importantly, communicators. I don't mind at all if you don't feel like you can post, or even want to when it's your turn, just let me know so we can work around it. :)
