The year is 2044, roughly a hundred years following the success of D-Day.
Whilst the push into Nazi Germany and its occupied territories had been initially successful, military operations had come to a stalemate close to the River Rhine. Reminiscent of the Great War, much of the nearby land had been decimated, warped and twisted into a no-man's land of barbed wire and minefields. Neither side could hold an offensive for long, where any breakthrough would exchange hands repeatedly throughout the day.
Desiring to break the stalemate, groups on both sides rushed weaponry onto the battlefield, such as the atomic bombs of the Manhattan Project and the countless Wunderwaffe of the Third Reich. Despite their intentions, these weapons would lead to the destruction of not just Europe, but the civilized world as it was known. Now, all that remains is the new world, reborn from the ashes of the old. Nations fought and died on the battlefield, with what they stood for but a fleeting memory in the minds and hearts of the elderly few.
It's going to be a long way to Tipperary, kid. Praise the Lord, pass the ammunition, and most importantly, make sure you don't get shot in the ass.

What I have in mind for this roleplay is to create a mishmash of some of my favorite settings and genres. The concept and ideas listed below are more of a "vague generalization" than anything else, given that I want to give people freedom to world build alongside me. Therefore, if anyone has any ideas, feel free to hit me up with suggestions such as potentially dangerous threats or factions scattered among the countryside of Europe.
To explain in the simplest way possible: the world's fucked. The war we know as World War 2 left devastation throughout the world, with the collapse of empires and countries leaving behind only the rare working lasrifle or titan—monstrous machines of death—behind in their wake. In addition, the various remnants of humanity are not the only enemy, with mutated beings and zombie-like plague carriers guarding ruins and the roads between makeshift outposts. Safety and shelter, while not unheard of, is a rarity in a world where anything could kill you.
Rules for this roleplay will be rather simple: don't be a dick and flame others or argue (which includes the GM's word being law), write at least two to three detailed (yes, detailed; this is a casual roleplay, after all) paragraphs minimum at least once per week. Follow those rules and everyone will have fun.
