Mary shook her head.
"I threw out the books a long time ago."

"I can't speak for the rest of my kind, if any are still out there, but the whole, 'crucifixes and garlic' thing is false. The garlic thing was strictly about Dracula. Or was it Vlad?" He shrugs. "I can't remember that bit. But sunlight is painful, as we burn easily, but not the whole, going up in smoke and flames thing. We just have very sensitive skin. I'll tell you more if I think of it."

Mary nodded.
"...ok."

"What about your kind? Human traditions and cultures have changed a lot over the centuries. What do they believe and do now?"

"Well, some are very doubtful about ghosts. some do not believe in organized religion."
Mary gave him some examples.

"Ghosts are quite real, if boring. Poltergeists are annoying. I don't know what the afterlife is like, or who and/or what runs it."

Mary blinked in surprise. She now felt she could assume that human to vampire transformations were quite real.

"There are two ways to make vampires. Children, like normal, or the...less pleasant way of creating them. The would-be-vampire dies, more often then not."

Mary blinked. She was nervous, but knew that an attempt could, and probably would, be made sometime in the future, when the time was right.

He sighs. "I swear to never force you to become a vampiress, or anything like it." He bows to her.

Mary blinked. She nodded. 'but it may be considered someday in the not too distant future.'she thought to herself.

"What do you want Mary?" He runs his finger across the counter.

Mary saw that the soup was ready and went to tend to the pot and such. She shrugged.
"you already know most of what I want. can you guess the rest?"
She hid a smirk.

"What do you want from me?" His cloak flutters.

Mary sighed.
"I guess i'm leaving that statement ambiguous then."
She shrugged a bit.

He smiles. "You are an intriguing one. You yearn for love, hide from hope, and are distrustful of the unknown." He presses his fingers together. "How can I help you, without becoming overbearing?"

Mary sighed.
"if I am to be honest...I am not sure how. I mean, others have asked, but always gave up after a while. Besides, you have already helped me out a lot."

"You don't know how you love?" He rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Mary sighed.
"you listened. No one ever stopped long enough to just...let me talk."
Although she had never truly been loved before, like someone being in love with her that is.
