“Storybooks? Ow,” Marin had been looking through the shelves, and accidentally straightened, hitting her head on a shelf.

Eric ran up to her, looking worried.
"um, yes...next to the astronomy books. Would you like some ice?"

“I’m fine.” Marin rubs her head and holds up a stack of books. “You don’t mind if I borrow all of these, do you? And if I come back?”

"this is your home now too, so of course you can come back."
Eric told her.
"And you can keep those books if you'd like."

Marin smiles. “Thank you.” She tries to get out. “Uh.. could you please help me?”

Eric helped her with the books and he left the basement with her.

Marin follows his footsteps and sets the books in their room upstairs.

Eric set down some of the books. He looked at her.

A small mark forms on Marin’s head. “I’m getting some water. Do you want some? Or something else?”

Eric looked at her.
"What is that mark?"
He frowned.

He huddles with her. "Am I sick or something?"

“Where I hit my head,” Marin shrugs.

Angel frowned and shrugged, unsure.

Eric frowned. He left for a moment and returned with an ice pack for her.

Marin frowns at the ice pack. “I’m not sure what that is, but I’m fine.”

"It's an ice pack."
Eric explained what it was used for.

Marin pokes the ice pack. Meanwhile, the mark fades, slowly but surely. Marin looks in a mirror and frowns. “Huh. I suppose I spent enough time here that my magic is slowing down. Usually I wouldn’t even have a mark.”

"Do you...want to go back?"

Marin shakes her head. “Of course not. There isn’t here, and there doesn’t have you.”

Eric sounded worried. His hand suddenly started burning, itching. He scratched his birthmark there.
