Angel sighed. She glanced at marin at times. She was quiet after that. She did not say a word. She simply waited for her food. She could only hope that marin was telling the truth and wasn't just trying to get her out of the picture.

He taps his finger on the table. "Would things be better if I never existed?"

Angel sighed. She hated to admit what she was about to say.
"You...You were the best thing that had ever happened to me...I...we were happy."

He looks down, hating himself. "Then I went and messed everything up. Just like I always do."

Angel blinked. She frowned and sighed. She did not say anything that time. She was very quiet. She glanced at marin from time to time though. However, she did not say anything to her that time.

Marin sighs. “You don’t trust me, and I get that. I want to help you and Damocles and, if I’m to be honest, it might be best for the both of you if you don’t try to reignite whatever you had. If it happens, great, but.. if it’s not natural it could hurt even more.” She turns to Damocles and shakes her head. “Sure your hurt, but your not broken. Neither of you are. You’ll heal and be even better than before,” she smiles softly.

"I was corrupted to such a degree that I wiped my own mind. Of someone I loved."

Marin crosses her arms and leans back in her seat. “And I was animalistic to the point that I killed my hometown. We’ve all done things we regret, but your not going to be able to have a future until you move past it.”

"I helped you out of that. But I'm finding it hard to let you return the favor."

Angel sighed.
"so, what you are saying is, we should take our time, and get to know each other all over again?"
Angel frowned a bit. But, she had a feeling that that would be the case.

“And I thank you for that. That’s one of the reasons why I’m going to help you. No matter how hard it is.”

"I want to just start from where I left off. From when you were happy. But I'll need to change my mindset to that point. Please, if I can ask one favor from you, don't hate me for trying to fix something I shattered."

Angel blinked. She sighed and paused for a moment. She thought about it. She took a breath and then finally spoke.
"fine....i'll give you a chance."

He nearly weeps in relief. "Thank you."

Marin smiles, even as pain pounds in her chest. “I’m happy for you two. Well I suppose you don’t need me anymore.” She starts to stand.

Angel sighed. She stopped marin.
"if you cared about him, you would not up and leave like this."
She narrowed her eyes.

"I never appreciated anything they way I should have. You two especially."

Marin blushes faintly and she sighs, looking away. “I bring pain to those I care about when I’m around them. Besides, he doesn’t need me anymore when he has you. I can leave knowing I’ve completed my mission. Take care of him for me.” She speaks quietly so only Angel can hear her.

Angel blinked. She sighed and questioned her.
"Why must you leave, when that alone would bring him pain?"

Marin sighs, and a shadow passes over her eyes. "The one I loved before... I lost control of my power and I... I killed him. I can't do that to Damocles. And I know it's selfish and petty, but it hurt to watch him pine after another woman, to know that he'll never return my feelings. So I leave, and spare you two from me."
