I'm trying to search for a roleplay partner, everything seems marked in 18+. I'm just 14! This causes me to make my own RP-intrest check and that's not marked 18+ either.

Oh well, does anybody have an answer to why there are so much mature+ themes?

Ah, well. That's going to get even sad at this point.

I know the law, but everytime I see an interesting interest check there's probabaly an 18+ barrier.

*Sigh*

This was harder then I've thought. I came here to enjoy roleplaying, not to get to see a bunch of 18+ barriers set up.

Wish me luck to find a roleplayer that snaps my intrest.

If it's any consolation, most people treat the 18+ tag as a general content warning. They're saying a game might devolve into smut (or splatterpunk, or dark themes or w/e) if one thing leads to another, not that it definitively will. Essentially it can mean "I'm not going to censor myself or my content, so be aware of the possibility of smutty themes if our characters have chemistry."

I don't like writing smut but I've never felt uncomfortable signing up for games tagged 18+.

Honestly, I am just posting an interest check with 4-5 plots that may be interesting but I don't know why people seem to neglect me. Am I just being delusional?

Like only 1 person has gotten interested from my INT-check and that's by giving it a like. I was just thinking it was because of the way I wrote my INT-check or because I am a kid and I do not meet their standards.

Or the 3rd cause that might be reasonable is timezones! Or people having school and such.

Let's hope this "Neglecting" is not the case.

Probably because of the smut, gore and dark scripts.

Most people on the Guild use 18+ for smut, gore, and 'dark' themes. Of course some of these are on a case by case basis, meaning what some people may find dark and twisty, others will not. Sadly, mostly anyone looks for in the 1x1 sections (from my experience) is smut. Don't know about you, but at that age, I was in no way trying to write porn. xD Regardless, it appears that most people in the 1x1 section are looking to write with partners close to their age. I know it sucks. I was there. People with 18+ tags didn't want to write with me within just weeks of my birthday - but that's understandable. I was still underage.

Regardless of the 1x1 section RPG still has a lot to offer from group RP's. From what I read in your intro, you said you can write 2-3 paragraphs, right? Maybe try poking your head around casual and see what you can find.

I personally started using the 18+ tag in my RPs for the presence of darker themes and gore, but I keep almost exclusively to Casual group RPs. Pretty much agree with Pugbutter, too.

I’d have to agree with Haley too, most 1x1s consist of potential smut in every conceivable romance plot. So, if you’re up for it, I’d definitely browse through Free or Casual (some Free RPs run almost exactly like in Casual, so it’s all about preference).

And to add my own two cents: you’re not alone in feeling overlooked, like your threads don’t exist or people just don’t show up or show any interest. I’ve been there, many times. I’ve had a few threads gather interest just to die off in a few weeks because over half of the people either don’t come in from the interest check or literally just don’t log in again for months.
Now, I’m not exactly a confident GM, so maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe it shows. In your case, it could be the age of your account. Who really knows...

Check the public sections.

It's no secret that 1x1 is the safe zone for people to advertisoeadvertise snut, gore, violence and other themes that might not be apcepted on the public side of the forum due to to how and revenues are calculated and so by Google.

18+ is often used for insurance, especially when a plot, may mutate and end up going deeper down.

However. All is not lost.

There are plenty of group, small group, and other RP in casual and free section that might find better paydirt than mining the 1x1 section only. You just have to widen your net a abit into new waters.

Even if they have adult themes, there tends to be less gratuitous detail etc.

Generally it's roleplays with sexual content that are marked with 18+ as it would be a major problem legally if someone was to make an effort in actively approaching a minor. Some people use it for just adult content like drugs, violence, or coarse language.

Starting your own check is probably your best bet in a 1x1. You can list that your not 18 and don't want any of that content as well. Also give you a bit more control on the style of RP that you want too.

@NesyExecutive

There are two factors. Being a adult, I would feel uncomfortable to role play with anyone under the age of 18. In fact, I would feel uncomfortable to role play with anyone under the age of 21. The other factor, being a adult and being a adult female: I would feel uncomfortable role playing a character under the age of 18. How do I have a interesting fantasy wanting to be a 12 year old girl?

With me, I would only be interested in 18 plus, as I want to understand adult conduct with adult conduct that I really cannot experiment or do in real life. Like murder, criminal conduct, adult conduct in a historical time era, adult conduct in science fiction. Not driven with sex, but not scared about it. Just do not want it to be the driving force with the role play. More interested in 18 plus with 1x1 FxF, as I like to develop and understand female relationships. The primary reason I role play, so I have a better understanding of adult conduct in the real world and can understand there relationship when it confronts me.

Well, that's something at least.

But I still don't mind people roleplaying with me at my age honestly and over my age. But I can understand that you have some concerns.

I never thought this forum had 18+ roleplayers as a primary. But is that true? Please help me debunk the fact that this roleplaying forum is primarily-based out of smut. Because me as a kid is trying to find someone to innovate new ideas and make a good roleplay! Like seriously I haven't found a single match execpt presumingly 1 person.

But one day I will.

Not all 18 plus is about smut, or sex. In my personal feeling, as a adult, it becomes more natural to write about a adult character with adult conduct. Than, being a adult and writing something like the first book of Harry Potter. Even the author of the Harry Potter books could not really write a children's book of Harry Potter after her first one. Her books became more adult with adult conduct with each book she wrote. Killing people, knowing you could be killed, planning not to be killed, planning to kill others: and these are books for children? With my generation we grew up faster, than say, children of the 1960's and 1970's dealing with cartoon violence.

Well, I have only been a member of this forum for less than two weeks. In my judgement, I do not think the members are primary interested in sex. It may happen, but it can take days or weeks before it would happens, if it happens. If someone was interested in sex, than go to Twitter and send a private message to trade a instant message account to each other.

@NesyExecutive As someone who joined the forum right after I turned 14, I feel your pain.

I was used to forummotion and proboards sites, which from my experience were set up for writing pretty much only 1x1's.

I'm not sure if you've tried writing your own interest check, but I would recommended that as well as the earlier recommendations of checking out the group RP's.

While the majority of the forum does appear to be adults, there are quite a few underage people as well. And no, not everyone is looking for smut. Some people just aren't comfy writing with someone so young - which is neither parties fault.

The reason I'm recommending group RP's so much is because that's where I got my start. You have a really new account. Not many people know you yet. We don't know you personally, your writing style, your characters... nothing. Groups are a nice place to try and make a name for yourself. After you've done a group or two and people can look at your profile and see what sort of writer you are for themselves, this may help you get a few partners.
