Miles is a very outgoing, smart and friendly-to-others kind of guy, something that you wouldn't expect for someone who has done something so horrible as to kill his own father. His childhood memories are filled with pictures of his father abusing and beating his mother which Miles loved extremely. He painfully tolerated his fathers outbursts and after each beating he tended to her bruises but his patience was running short. At the age of 18, his parents finally split up because his mother, after a beating called the police. His father was briefly arrested but then released and when he came back, Miles's mother told him she wanted a divorce in which he agreed. The two years after the divorce were the best years in Miles's life as he no longer had to worry about his mother getting beaten almost everyday. He graduated and enrolled into a university and generally lived a normal life until his second year. One day, as he was returning home from uni he saw a familiar car outside of the house he and his new family - his mother had remarried in those two years - were living. It was his father's car. He quickly rushed to the house only to see the door left slightly open. As he entered the house, he heard shouting. Approaching he realized that his father - his real one - had come to their new house.
Apparently, he didn't like the fact that Mile's mother had already remarried and was quite angry and emotional about it. Then in a fit of rage built up by their argument, his father started punching Mile's mother in the face. That was the last straw. Miles snapped, went into the kitchen, grabbed a cutting knife, came back and lunged at his father, stabbing his back a total of 18 times before finally calming down. The police came and he was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison. Little did he know he would be one of the people chosen to be part of a science experiment...
