Eh, sounds more like the title to the 80s vampire movie The Lost Boys. One of the first vampire movies I saw as a kid that made me like the classic vampire and not those sparkle fairies from Twilight.

What did we end up deciding her source of her powers were? Is she drawing them from BJ? Is it like a "born with it" kinda thing?

Born with it. Her mother was a psychic witch and so is Lyds.

So what should Chuck do that makes Lydia and BJ run away?

Maybe finds out that they snuck out of the house to check on the labradoodles and her friends when they don't know if it's really safe from the facility so he starts scolding/arguing with her.

Maybe he tries to ground her?

Never being grounded before and angry with him she runs away while he's either at work or asleep

BJ would also totally blow it out of proportion like always.

One thing I realized is that with Lyds and Beej is that the human reflects their demon. Shoggoth is a Lovecraftian horror that messes with the mind; Lydia is telekinetic. That being said, perhaps Ash's human is pyrokinetic.
