Welcome to the world of One Piece!

I'll avoid beating around the bush and get straight to the point. The story I'm going for will be centered on the adventure of one pirate crew. Including myself, number of members to start would range from 4-6. Ideally, someone else takes the role of captain, but in the event no one wants to, my character will be the captain by default. We can work on the dynamics and relationships of the members in the OOC along with the sequence of joining the crew. We'll be relatively strong with a certain level of infamy since we're the protagonists of the story.

Strength-wise, characters will be relatively be strong/skilled in their fields of expertise; let's say around the level of the Straw Hats during the Skypiea or Alabasta Arcs. Haki will be limited for now; but I'll allow it during certain situations or characters. I want us to build up towards it.

Each island will be an arc in itself but how long it'll take will vary. We'll have timeskips between islands and some times within longer island arcs. It'll hopefully be plot driven, but can change in the fly depending on the outcomes of each arc.

Posting frequency will be once weekly, but under the assumption that everyone is mostly at home given the pandemic, we can have things move faster if need be. World-building will be gradual, and I'll start of with major figures such as the Admirals, Emperors, and Warlords. Then the rest will intermittently added or added on an as needed basis.

My character will be a young adventure-seeking Skypiean. Can fill the role of a navigator, first-mate, shipwright, inventor, or doctor. He'll be more practical and cool-headed as a crew member, but as a captain, he'll be more reckless and impulsive.

We won't be following "first come, first serve" for character application. Lastly, consider the story to take place in an alternate One Piece universe. The events that led up to the start of the original story still holds true, but the rest, like the Straw Hats, never existed unless stated otherwise.

Character Progression: Include what you wanna go for in terms of abilities both in and out of combat. Be it learned skills and some sort of special item or equipment.

What's the deal going to be with Devil Fruits?
I kinda already have an idea for a character that's based off of Mr. 5, just with dual Gunblade Revolvers and practically zero nose-picking. xD

@Kalas I'm trying not to limit choices for Devil Fruits, unless it's extremely broken or makes things somewhat awkward. I'm kinda hesitant on having a crew of mythical zoans. But bomb man dual-wielding gunblades, more acceptable.

@Juro Well that's excellent news! And I definitely wouldn't be opposed to you reserving/banning the somewhat overpowered DF's such as the Ope Ope, Ito Ito & Mochi Mochi for example, which are probably the 3 most broken ones.

@Kalas I mean, I'm actually fine with those fruits since the overpowered part seems to come from the user's mastery over the fruit; at base form, I don't get the feeling of them being imbalanced.

Overpowered will probably be mostly logias, like the Light Fruit or Gas Fruit. I'll try holding off from picking the good fruit for NPCs though.

@Archmage MC Hmmm. Possibilities on the top of my head would be Devil Fruit or a result of an experiment. The former would make the scope of her abilities more vast, the latter would have more limitations, but at least she won't have the weakness that comes with Devil Fruits. But don't get me wrong, we'll still need to work out the pros and cons of being a slime girl.

Augustus D. Fletcher

Fletch, Quick-Trigger, North Blue's Menace.
Age: 20
Gender: Male

Race: Human
Height & Weight: 5'9" & 173 lbs

Personality:

• Self-Assured: Fletcher tends to face most problems with a confident outlook. Nothing is too difficult or challenging for him in his eyes and he readily believes that he can overcome most obstacles one way or another.
• Impulsive: Somewhat ignorant in most diplomatic situations. He doesn’t register danger as most others do and doesn’t always listen when it comes to taking the safe/quiet route. He enjoys a good scrap and is more then ready to pull the trigger whenever he's called upon. On some occasions he's even made the mistake of being too eager.
• Lazy: If there’s a quick way of doing something, a shortcut to follow or generally just palming something off for someone else to deal with, Fletcher will undoubtedly do it. He dislikes responsibility and will do his utmost to worm his way out of owning it, usually through more adventurous means.
• Frank: Fletcher is very forthcoming. He doesn't beat around the bush and often likes to tell it straight. Sometimes he can be too honest, going so far as to insult people with the bluntness of his approach at times. But this doesn't seem to faze him much at all, since he prefers to lay most of his cards out on the table so as not to be seen to ever be holding back.

Bounty: 37,000,000

Origin: Before joining the crew as a Pirate, Fletcher had made a name for himself as a highly-skilled Gunman and Bounty Hunter. And whilst his bounty-hunting activities generally kept him in the good graces of the World Government, there were several times where his rash-headedness landed him in altercations involving the Marines, leading to a short spell at Impel Down. Upon his release, the World Government decided they wanted to keep Fletcher on a short leash, given his tendency to lose control during delicate situations but it wouldn't be long until Fletcher would grow tired of being babysat by the Marines.

In his most reckless decision to date, Fletcher decided to go rogue during a Marine bust on a renown Devil Fruit smuggling operation, where he acquired the Bomu Bomu no Mi. His betrayal of the Marines led to an immediate bounty being placed on his head, but was only raised to its' current amount after he shot and killed a Navy Commander in a one-on-one duel during his escape.

Position: Blacksmith

Goal: Fletcher's goal is to become the World's Greatest Sniper.

Abilities:

Weaponsmith: Having grown up around most types of blade and pistol, Fletch has made himself proficient in maintaining, repairing & upgrading various types of weaponry. His skill is no more evident than by simply examining his figurative crown-jewels: Sasha and Teagan; a pair of flintlock .44 caliber 6-shot Gunblade Revolvers. In the past, whenever bounty-hunting jobs had slowed up, Fletcher leant on his abilities as a Weaponsmith to generate Berries in order to get by. Nowadays, he lends these talents to his crew, still for a price, but usually at a heavily discounted rate.

Sharpshooter: Despite being known for having a rather itchy trigger finger, there aren't that many occasions where Fletcher has genuinely missed. His crackshot aim is almost always overshadowed by the fact that he likes to shoot first and ask questions later, but there aren't that many who have remained to spread word of his aim and those who have, have made it their business never to cross paths with Fletcher again.

Proficient Swordsman: There have been only a few occasions where Fletcher actually decided not to shoot first, where instead he has been forced to utilize the razor-sharp edges of his Gunblades to dispatch of those unlucky enough to be on the wrong end. His attacks are a whirlwind of spins and strikes, slashing at his opponents from all directions. Although he has never really tested his mettle when it comes to swordplay, he has always managed to get by when it counts.

Bomu Bomu no Mi

The Bomu Bomu no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to make any part of his or her body explode, whether it be hair, saliva, or breath, making the user a Bomb Human.

Strengths: The fruit's main strength is that the user can turn their body parts into a bomb with no harm done to the user. The explosive quality extends to emissions such as saliva and breath. The fruit also grants immunity against all other explosions, as well as the ability to evaluate their quality.

Weaknesses: The fruit's ability only activates whenever the user initiates contact. Other than that, this fruit has no apparent weaknesses aside from the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Usage:

• Breeze Bullets - Fletch blows into the chambers of his Gunblade Revolvers, then fires his breath as invisible exploding bullets.
• Big Blast Fist - Fletch punches his opponent, detonating his fist on impact.

Standing at 5'10", Bel has a mocha complexion complimenting her amber eyes and long scarlet hair. While voluptuous and curvy, her physique is lean and toned. Of course the most odd aspect of her appearance is the maid outfit she wears. Why does she wear it? She likes it~

An earnest free spirit, Bel loves being at sea. First impressions, while an odd eccentric, she is proper and polite, a model example of a maid. She's excitable and prone to acting before or in spite of common sense is considered. Unassuming and earnest. But don't mistake her demure, oddball appearance for naivety or weakness. When crossed, Bel reveals the wild, savage soul of her beastly origins lurking beneath. She delights in flexing her physical prowess, letting loose the wolf she was raised to be, and having a wild time. Her lust for primal battle is only matched by her lust for adventure.

From about four years old, Bel was raised by wolves. Crazy, right? As far back as she can remember she was left alone in a remote island forest. It's unknown whether her parents abandoned her there, were killed by the wildlife or if it was some other reason. Nevertheless, she would have died if one of wolf packs hadn't taken her in. And she grew up as a wolf cub for the next 8 years, even finding a devil fruit, unbeknownst to her, and eating it.

One day, a ship landed on the island. It wasn't a large vessel but the crew was well armed and ended up killing the wolves, all the while one man demanded and cried for them to stop. Bel had been away from the pack, teaching the youngest of the wolves how to hunt and had returned at the end of the slaughter. At the sight, she flew into a rage and attacked the crew members, her devil fruit powers out of control. They were caught off guard by the wild child that seemingly came out of nowhere. Despite her nimbleness and feral assault, she really couldn't do much to them. And her devil fruit powers weren't strong enough at the time to do more than inflict shallow cuts on the men. Nearly drowned out by Bel's furious screams and the crews shouts to grab her and put her down, there was still the one man calling for them all to stop. Finally, one of the crew members managed to peel her off him and throw her to the ground with no reservations, knocking the wind out of her. He pointed his gun at her and fired. However, the shot did not hit her but rather the shoulder of the elder man that had thrown himself in front of her. The man was an archaeologist who had hired the crew to take him out to sea for research. He had demanded they not kill anything without proper cause as he wanted to study any new species he came across. Unfortunately, they were too paranoid and trigger happy or he was too naive. Either way, it was Bel's misfortune. And so, he decided to take her and the wolf cub she had been out with home with him.

The elder man's name was Solomon Cleargarden. He was a wealthy widower and his own kids had all grown up and left home. He decided to name the wild girl Bel Cleargarden and treat her as his own. She was quite defiant and feral from the start. It took a whole year for him to gain her trust. He taught her to speak, read, and write. Told her countless stories about his youth as an archaeologist and tales of the sea. About his regrets that he had become too old to go out again, that he was never brave enough to venture to the Grand Line. As Bel became more and more civilized, she got along well with Solomon's maids and even started emulating them, including their attire.

Bel spent 7 years with Solomon and came to see him as her own father. However, he was old and passed away. His estate went to his biological children who offered to let her stay but she had other plans. Solomon's stories over the years had awakened a fascination with the sea in her. She only ever knew the forest she was abandoned in and the home Solomon gave her. She wanted to repay him somehow but also go and venture out. Solomon had kept a journal of his adventures from his youth and had always kept a section of it blank with the chapter titled "The Grand Line". So, she decided that she'd fill the pages for him. Bel also decided one other thing. Her own goal and desire. Solomon's journal was his personal treasure and when she fills its pages it will be hers too. So, she'll place it among the greatest treasure the world has ever known, the One Piece. With her wolf brother, Deldro, at her side, Bel set off on her adventure in Solomon's memory.

Bel is quite strong and can hold her own in close quarters. She's mostly self taught so her fighting style is rough, though elegant, so a more proper trained opponent may have an edge on her. However, she's a quick learner and knows how to adapt.

Bel uses razor sharp rose petals to attack her enemies within a few meters of her. She also often uses this as an opening surprise attack, using the petals to disguise her approach, making it seem like she appeared out of nowhere.

Bel creates a long vine covered in thorns and uses it to attack. She can summon two, one in each hand.

@Vongola_Hasayo Not to burst your bubble, but once I've decided on the participants, I'll let you guys decide on who the captain is gonna be.

Well, you certainly seem to have put more thought into this than most OP games that go out there, and even took a similar approach to what I did in my old OP game in regards to choosing the captain, and setting up crew relationships ahead of time. You can consider me interested. I've made about a thousand different OP characters so it's just a matter of choosing who I want to translate over here. Ideally I'd like to bring back my favorite, Captain Bartholomew K. Runch aka Cap'n Krunch, the "Cereal Killer" with his cereal based devil fruit, but his story won't work if he can't be guaranteed captain and if someone else is going for cook then I'd rather leave him on the table. That still leaves a buuunch of options though.

Edit: Might I suggest a tweak on the CS? A “job” or “position” category to denote what they do for the group? Obviously the captain/first mate won’t need to be something there but the actual jobs like cook, navigator, main fighter, swordsman, etc.

@ProPro@Juro I was wondering about this myself, which is why I've hinted at Fletcher being the crew's Weaponsmith in his Abilities Section.

I’ve got two ideas at the moment, what would people prefer to see?
1) A Fishman shipwright that can repair the ship on the go from underwater, that fights using a carpenter’s saw as a swordsman.
2) A mad scientist doctor that develops crazy drugs and poisons for combat enhancement, with a zoan devil fruit that turns her into a humanoid virus?

I have a few very rough ideas for potential characters. Looking them over, though, it turns out I have a lot of DF-based ideas here. I may want to broaden my horizons to other options.

The first one is basically somebody making use of the Bomb Bomb Fruit for much more varied uses than just "snot explode lmao". At this stage, though, that conflicts with Kalas' idea, and to be frank, I'd much rather avoid putting myself in direct conflict for a character spot with specific others.

The second would be somebody starting off without a Devil Fruit, making use of their innate power instead, but then later on acquiring a DF power for themselves. My powergaming self would really quite like that to be the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Daibutsu, but it's been discussed already why that might be disagreeable, so perhaps it'd be best to avoid such a thing if I go with this.

A third option would be some form of Logia user. I like Logias conceptually, but you've already stated that those may be concerning too, which puts it in the same problem area as the Daibutsu, albeit without the delay of acquisition to help ameliorate power scaling concerns.

Or I could go in as King Louie the Giant, ousted from his position ruling over a nation after accidentally eating the Ape-Ape Fruit, Model: Gigantopithecus. The gimmick, you see, is being as ridiculously massive as giant-ly possible. That, however, seems like more of an NPC concept than anything else, and may make sailing around much more difficult as a result.

Lastly, I could just go with a Paramecia of some sort. The Arms-Arms Fruit isn't bad, or I could make use of somebody who can drill very effectively.
